FOCUS Groundwater Opinions
FOCUS Groundwater report (2009) (SANCO/321/2000 rev 2)
• Working document for use released on: http://focus.jrc.ec.europa.eu/
• Mandate for two Opinions on the FOCUS report received from Commission
11
FOCUS GW Opinion A (Lower tiers)
• For Opinion A it is requested whether: • the recommendations are consistent with the state of the art of
science in this field for the elementary (tier 1) assessment; • the proposed procedures for elementary assessments are
scientifically robust enough for the intended use; • the proposed changes in elementary assessment scenarios and
model parameterisations for elementary assessment are adequate; • the shells and tools that have been released via the agreed version
control procedure deliver the intended elementary assessment.
12
FOCUS GW Opinion B (Higher tiers)
• For Opinion B it is requested whether: • the recommendations are consistent with the state of the art of
science in this field for the tiered approaches and higher tier assessments;
• the proposed procedures for including higher tier experimental results in the assessment procedure are scientifically robust and consistent with a tiered approach;
• the report is presented in a way that facilitates communication of the methodology for exposure assessment of groundwater;
13
Timing
• Opinion A on lower tier assessment foreseen for adoption in February 2013
• Opinion B on higher tier assessment foreseen
for adoption in June 2013
