When lhe Color Guard Unit approaches the stands to Post Colors, theycome to a Halt Upon the command Post Colors, March, the Guard and DrillCaplain will come to Present Arms and rvrll remain so until all Flags are postedand the Flag Bearers are back in ranks. At thrs time, the Drill Captain will givethe command, Order Arms.

d. Flags are posted and retrieved one at a time, American, first, Canadian, ,second, Mexican, Third and Panamanran, Fourth.

8.1 Position of the Colors at the Carry:

At the carry, the ferrure of the staff is rested in the socket ot the sring. Thesocket is below the uaist and adjusted to ensure that the linals of all colors-are atequal heighl. The starf is grasped with the right han<r (even with rhe nnuth) andrnclined slightly to the fronl with the reft hand securing the ferrule in the socket.The reft hand may be posirioned immediarery berow the dght hand to more securethe Colors on a windy day.

7.1 Posrtion of lhe Colors at the Order

COMPETITIVE ORILLS

3.7 Tne position ol each team lor scheduled tim ol drilts. shall be determinedby a drawing under the direction o, the Dnll Committee, prior to lhe commenceruentof the Competitive Drills. All Orill Captains or Directors, 0f the competing unrtsshould report to the Onll Cornmrttee, al the dnll area, al least 30 minutes pnor lothe commencement ol lhe Drills for the drawing.

3.2 Each team compeiing in the Competitive Drills shall be prepared lo enter thedrill area at their scheduled lime.

3.3 The First Movernent on the drill floor shall be to present the team inCompany Front, and at atlention, before the Presiding Judge.

3.1 The Drill Captain or Oirector, will then salute and report to the PresidingJudge, that his leam is ready for competilive drill. He will proceed wtth the drill onlyafter receiving orders, lrom the Presiding Judge, to proceed wtth the drill.

3.5 Each Team will be permitted a nnximum of 12 minutes. from the time theyreceive orders from the Presiding Judge to proceed until they complete their drilland relurn, in Company Front, before the Presiding Judge, and report that theyhave completed their drill. Any time over the allotted tinre will constitute a penaltyof 1 point for each 10 seconds.

3.6 Dnll will be judged on the basis ol (a) general appearance, ability andleadership of lhe Drill Captain or Director; (b) the appearance and ability of otherofficers or guides; (c) the appearance, alignment, cadence and profciency of thernen-in-line; (d) the intricacy of the display rnvements; (e) the rnovements: (0complication of movernents; (g) the perfection with which the nnvernents areaccomplished; (h) the compleleness of the movenents: (i) the genenl appearanceof the unit. The judging will be done by lhree (3) or nrcre experienced iudges, thescoring will be based on a total of 100 points. Score cards will be signed by theindividual judges and handed lo the lellers at the Judges'table The tellers will addand veriff the scores after each drill. Each Drill Caplain or Director wrll later befurnishe'J a summary of the score of his team.

3.7 No Drill Captain, Director, nor member of any competing team will hold anypractice dnll after the drill begins . The principle involved here, is one of honor andsponsmanshtp.

3.8 The presentation of avrards arrd trophies for the Competitive Drills will bemade at the lime and place designaled by lhe IALOH or Association Commander.

JUDGING

4.1 There shall be t'ro (2) phases ol judging:a. Personal inspeclion of all competing LOH Unrts shall be done by

one of lhe judges available. All Unils will assemble at the assignedarea al least thirly (30) mrnutes prior lo competltion trme for thrs inspectronand remain in place until all padrcrpating Unils have been rnspected.

b. The second phase of judging consists ol the mandatory drillmovements as outlined in Soction 2.6 (a-g) and Section 2.6 (ag).

1.2 There shall be at least three (3) or more iudges located on lhe pad to viewall movements by the compeling Unit. The Drill Rule Committee will designatepositions for judges lo review.

{.3 The judges for all compefition may be Military Judges when aViilabte at nocost . Member of the LOH nny be used as judges if they have been a teammember, Drill Captain or Direclor and have no direct relations with any competingUnit . No member of lhe Drill Rules Committee may act as a Judge or Inspector .This is necessary lo ensure fairness.

1,4 The score sheet to be used by the judges is the one adopted by IALOH orShrine Association, when applicable. All score sheets will be totaled and signed byeach judge and will be tabulated in the presence ol the Drill Committee . Everyparticipating Unil wrll be lumished a copy of the completed score sheets.

{.5 The number of nobles nnking up a competition t eam will not add or delractfrom scoring. Judges will only score based upon the bearing of each team anderecution of the movements.

4.6 Trophies wilt be awarded for 1r. /d and 3d place . There will be acomplimentary trophy awarded to all other compeling Tearn or Units. Trophiesshallbe purchased by IALOH for all Units.

SPECIAL RULES FOR THE COLOR GUARO

6.1 The LOH Color Guard for competition purpos€s consrsts of Four (4) flagbearers and Tvro (2) guards. In lieu of a Drill Captain, a Color Bearer may give thenecessary commands for all movenrenls.

5.2 (A) To align lhe Unil al Normal Interval, lhe commancls are DRESSRIGHT, DRESS and READY FRONT On the command ol execution FRONT, eachmember returns sharply to the posrlion of ATTENTION.

(Bl To align the Unit at Close lnterval, lhe commands are at CLOSEINTERVAL. DR€SS RIGHT, DRESS and READY. FRONT. On rhe command oferecution FRONT, each member returns sharply lo the position of ATTENTION.

DRILL TEAM & COLOR GUARO COMPETITION

2.1 The IALOH Drill Rules Committee will call a meeting of all Drrll and ColorGuard Captains or Directors and Judges prtor to competition. Questrons by eltherwrll be resolved by the Commrttee at the tirne. Each leam will draw a number todetermine trme ol dnll.

2.2 The competrtion pad will be chosen by the host LOH Unil, il thete is no hostLOH Unit. the IALOH or Assoctation Commander will appoint one.

2.3 The ideal srte of the competition pad is 100 r 150 feet, depending 0n lheavailability of space. The perimetet should be marked so that all competing Unitsvrill have an area designated for entry on the pad. A Unit marching beyond anypart of this perineter during competrtion will be assessed Two (2) penalty points

2.4 A maximum time of Tvrelve (12) minutes shall be allocated to eachcompeting Unit. Any time over this arlount will be cause for a penalty of One (1)poinl for each 10 seconds to be deducted from the overall scole.

2.5 The mandatory movements to be used during Pad Competition are listedherein . Each LOH Drill Team parlicipating must perform the nrovements listedbelow:

a. Reprting the Drill Team ready for competition to the PresidingJudge;

b. Column (Squatl) Left and Right Turn;

c. To the Rear March Two (2)limes;

d. Left and Right Oblique;

e.- Left and Right Flank;

Movements b through I may be done whenever lhe Drilt Captain desires.

NormalColor Guard marching step is the half-step . ful step may Oeused, but must be used throughout the &ill excepl during change ofdirection movements.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 The infornration listed herein will apply to all Color Guard and DrillCompetition that may corne under the judsdiction ol the Internalional AssociationLegions of Honor ( IALOH). They will be used in compelition and encouraged foruse in any Ceremonies spnsored by IALOH.

1.2 One of the objectives of the IALOH is to pronnte respect and courtesy forthe National Colors of the United States, Canada, Merico and Panann. One wayto achieve this goal is by setting an erample.

1.3 All National Flags wrli be adorned with its National Symbols:a. American - Eagle (With no Fringe).b. Canadian - Maple Leaf {With no Fringe).c. Merican - Spear (With no Fringe).d. Panamanian - Spear (With no Fringe).
