We continued to take long shots as we thought our previous photos were effective, however we went to a different location and slightly closer to Abi this time, in order to give the effect that the supernatural force is watching the character.

This location of the forest was

interesting as there was a broken tree

leaning onto another, creating a broken and chaotic

cross-over effect. This sense of havoc

reflects the genre of the film, due to the

peril that the sisters (Evie and Morgan)

go though.

• We’d taken a lot of long shots and medium shots, so we wanted to experiment with close-ups in order to focus on the facial expression of our model more intensely.

• Placing Abi behind branches gave the sense of being trapped, and the chaos of the intertwining branches enhanced this idea. It was key to use our settings to display a sense of havoc, danger, isolation or being trapped, because all of these emotions are strongly displayed in our trailer.

• We asked Abi to look into the distance for some of the photos to portray her character as brave and an adventurer, whilst also asking her to look slightly out of breath by parting her lips, to establish the fact that she’s in danger.

• For other close-ups we asked Abi to look directly at the camera, because I’d seen throughout my magazine and poster deconstructions that the model often uses direct eye contact in order to pull in the viewer emotionally.

• We tried taking photos in a variety of different places but a lot of them ended up looking the same, which is one of the reasons why we are planning on re-taking our photos.

• We need to find more specific locations where we can use the scenery to our advantage, as opposed to just repeatedly taking shots simply displaying the forest location.

• We need to find more locations like the photo on the top left corner- we used the branch creatively to frame Abi’s face, resulting in the idea that something is lurking underneath the trees watching her.

• Another reason why we are re-taking photos is because, despite the setting being eerie, it would be even creepier if it was dark out. The light seeping through the branches in these photos appears too bright and happy for the genre.
