• The Youth Day commemorates a student demonstration in Beijing on May 4, 1919 held after the "rights" to Tianjin were handed over from Germany to Japan. The demonstrations gave birth to the nationalist “May Forth” Movement. It is marked in many places with large displays of flowers and is part of the May Day golden week.

apparently having been attracted by Li’s
