Welcome Buckeye!

By taking your next step at The Ohio State University at Lima, you become part of an academic tradition that leads the way in shaping tomorrow’s world. Ohio State’s orientation program is designed to get new Buckeyes off to a strong start to ensure success.

At orientation, you will:

• Learn what is expected of you as an Ohio State student both in and out of the classroom

• Attend group advising sessions to learn more about your area of study and to schedule classes

• Meet other incoming Ohio State students

• Become more familiar with campus

• Complete university business, such as getting your BuckID card and consulting with Student Financial Aid

• Receive your technology kit

Student orientation attendance is imperative for success. While students are required to attend, family members are strongly encouraged to participate in all orientation activities. This guide will be your resource for a successful orientation.

Buckeye Tip Eat a hearty breakfast to make sure you are energized for the day!

*All new freshmen will be charged a $50 registration fee that will be assessed on the first semester statement of account.

Register for orientation 1. Visit scarletandgray.osu.edu and enter the RSVP code above2. Select an orientation date3. You will receive confirmation via the e-mail used to register. Please

print your confirmation as this information will not be mailed.

Complete required placement tests • All placement tests must be taken five days prior to orientation.

Please review your testing information listed above to determine your testing requirements

Check your Ohio State e-mail regularly• Visit lima.osu.edu and click “Webmail” (upper right corner)• E-mail will be used for official University correspondence

Access Buckeyelink • Login at buckeyelink.osu.edu• Complete to do list items (right side)

Send all CCP, transfer, and AP transcripts to Ohio State • If you would like to receive college credit for classes that you have

Organize items to bring to orientation • A picture ID (driver’s license, state ID. or passport) • OSU ID Number • All college transcripts, during or after high school, of any

Prepare to receive your technology kit • As part of the Digital Flagship, an initiative to support

your learning and life at Ohio State, you will receive a technology kit that includes an iPad Pro, Smart Keyboard, Apple Pencil and a protective case1. Create an Apple ID — find more information and

helpful links at go.osu.edu/dfappleid2. Sign the Student Technology Agreement — the

agreement is an overview of what it means to accept the iPad as an Ohio State student and you will receive an e-mail to electronically sign the document

Mathematics Placement Test • Required for all entering freshmen, including students

with AP or transfer credit • This can be taken online or in the Philip A. Heath

Center for Teaching and Learning (Learning Center) • Your required placement test B or D is indicated in

the Orientation Information Bar Mathematics Placement Test (online directions)

1. Visit go.osu.edu/mathplacement to take your placement test (either B or D), review sample problems, topics covered, and testing instructions

2. Upon completion of the placement test, you will receive a math course code that indicates your placement level and link for more information. You will use this code to register for the appropriate math course at orientation.

3. If your test results are a “U” (undetermined), you will need to re-test at the Learning Center. Online exams may only be taken once.

All placement tests are available in the Learning Center, Galvin Hall 310, and take approximately two hours.

To schedule, call 567-242-7310.

Placement testing is NOT available day of orientation.

English Placement Test • Test requirement indicated in the Orientation

Information Bar as “Yes” if you need to take this test

• Students with AP or transfer credit should contact Academic Advising to confirm requirement

• Contact the Learning Center to schedule your English Placement Test (no online test available)

Advanced Placement (AP) Tests• Please send AP test scores to Ohio State and

bring a copy to orientation. (Contact the Advanced Placement Program at 1-888-CALL4AP to have an official copy sent)

• If you come to orientation before the AP scores are available, you will schedule courses based on your placement results

• Once AP results become available, we can adjust your schedule accordingly

Disability Accommodations • Students with disabilities should contact Karen Meyer

at 567-242-7194 to make arrangements for testing

All placement tests taken at the Learning Center or online must be completed at least five days prior to your scheduled orientation.
