Red Eared SlidersMediumtolarge sized turtle capable of reaching lengths of 7 to 9" in males & 10 to 12" in females. Native to the southern U.S. and are considered an invasive species because pet owners under estimate their size and dump them into near by ponds.
Question:1. Why are these turtles called "Red Eared Sliders?"
2. These turtles reproduce sexually. If a skin cell of the turtle contains 50 chromosomes, how many chromosomes are contained in its egg cell? What is the name of the of the process that leads to gametes?
