Aims: Improve the staff competences / expertise
with CPD for specific staff within the STEM subjects of Science, Maths and Technology
Improve the teaching and learning within these subjects so that more students take these subjects at Level 2 and Level 3 where appropriate
Curriculum modified accordingly

Measuring Impact: KA1 Narrative report completed by all staff EU Survey completed by all staff All staff received a Europass Mobility Certificate for their
work Feedback also given by staff on our e-phoenix newsletter All staff gave very positive outcomes in terms of their
feedback and welcomed the opportunity to improve their practice
Staff used this experience in their evidence base as part of their performance management

Product Design from September 2016 (more girls choosing the subject) Potentially 23 Y11 students chosen to study A level Technology Product
Design (staffing has been modified) from September 2016 Potentially 28 students (two groups) chosen to study A level Physics
(staffing has been modified) from September 2016 Potentially 50 students chosen to study A level Maths (staffing has been
modified) from September 2016 Level 3 Core Maths qualification to be offered to Y12 students from
September 2016 Bid accepted for our school to be part of the Mastery Mathematics

Measuring Impact, Maths: Y11 Level 2 Further Maths qualification Aspire project Various UKMT challenges (in school we do the annual quiz with Y9 and
Y11, and we sent a 6th form team to a competition at Sheffield University) Pop Maths quiz at Sheffield Hallam every year, Y7-Y13 Fun Maths Roadshow with KS3 Y9 Gifted and Talented program at Sheffield University and SHU (annual
programme of 6 sessions run on Saturday mornings) Y11 Maths ‘’inspiration” trip Parental Engagement sessions (Y7 and Y11 so far, Y9 to come) Y6/7 annual quiz Y6 after-school sessions

Measuring Impact, Science: STEM Club: weekly club for Y8 HA pupils supported by Y9 Stem Mentors.
Various projects throughout the year involving the STEM subjects e.g. current chicken hatching activity.
Engineering Extravaganza: day of engineering challenges for the Y8s STEM club members. Hosted by Rolls-Royce at the AMRC to promote engineering careers.
Exploring STEM for Girls: half day of activities to promote STEM study and careers to girls and CPD course for staff. We took Y9 girls, 52% of which were from our PPG cohort.
British Science Week: five talks by STEM professionals on various subjects e.g. chemistry of venoms. All year groups involved Y7-Y12/13.
Science Club: weekly Y7 club to promote Science study and enjoyment.

Measuring Impact, Technology: Road Safety badges – designing and modelling. Getting them
made and selling them in school. Road safety film – creating road safety films and editing them. Pin Hole Camera. Wooden frames for photo taken with PH Camera. Copper project – making sculptures out of copper and
enamelling them. Eggucation – hatching chicks from eggs brought in from a
farm. Rocket Science.
