What is an MBA?

• Masters of Business Administration• Post-graduate degree awarded to those who have mastered the

study of business

• Students study the theory and application of business and management principles

• Typical coursework includes the study of accounting, economics, human resources, marketing, finance, operations, project management and strategy

• Does not require an undergraduate business degree

Is an MBA Valuable?

The Oregon State MBA – Program Components

• MBA Foundation Knowledge (3-15 credits)• Pre-MBA coursework for non-business majors• Accounting/finance, marketing/management, sustainable business

operations, business/legal environment • Students may be able to opt out of some foundation courses if they

have received equivalent on-the-job training• Students can take foundation courses at OSU, online and/or at a

local community college

• MBA Core • Skills and knowledge every OSU MBA graduate must have• Curriculum includes coursework in Financial/Cost Analysis, Business

Law, Finance, Leadership, Business Analysis, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Strategic Management, Information Systems, Quantitative Methods, and New Product Development

Minimum Admissions Requirements

• To be eligible for admission, students must meet the following criteria:• GPA

• At least a 3.0 from a regionally accredited college or university • If under a 3.0, advisors can work with applicants to determine eligibility on a

case-by-case basis

• GMAT (or GRE)• Minimum 500 overall score• Minimum 20% on verbal, quant, IR and writing sub-scores• We can provisionally admit an applicant w/o a GMAT score:

• You can complete up to 9 credits, then must submit a valid score • We may waive the GMAT if an applicant has already earned a Master’s degree• We will waive the GMAT for any PhD student who has completed their

comprehensive exams• See website for more details on GRE minimums (304, 30% percentile, 3.5+ on

AWS)

• TOEFL (international applicants)• 575 on paper based OR 7.0 on IELTS OR 91 on internet-based version (iBT)

with all sub scores at or above 22• Applicants must achieve minimum TOEFL score before they are allowed into

any MBA classes

Preferred Admissions Qualifications

• GPA• 3.0 or higher in business or technical field

• GMAT (not GRE) • 600+ with strong performance in all sub-sections

• Professional experience• Job(s)• Internship(s)• Volunteer experiences
