My Brothers and Sisters, The celebration of the Eucharist, the Liturgy, is the one thing we do each week as the People of God to offer praise and thanks to God and to deepen our communion with Him and with each other. The Eucharist (the Liturgy) is the greatest act of worship and prayer that we have in the Church. In its Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, the document from the II Vatican Council states that the pas-tor "must promote the liturgical instruction of the faithful and also their active participation." It is a good practice

from time to time, to look at what we do each week and 'evaluate' our-selves and see if we are doing our best --- or perhaps there are improve-ments we could make. I think our liturgies are well done here at All Saints. I also believe we could make some improvements and deepen/increase our understanding of the liturgy. We ought to love the liturgy: do you? It should draw you in the an unbreakable union with God and your fellow parishioners. Does it do this? Are our liturgies all they are intended to be, or can we "raise the bar”? Over the next several weeks let us take a long, loving look at how we celebrate our liturgies. How can we increase our understanding of what it is all about. In the coming weeks there will be several inserts in the bulle-tin, beginning this week-end, and several homilies intended to help us deepen our understanding and love for the liturgy/Eucharist. Our Liturgy Committee is working to help us understand and celebrate the liturgy bet-ter. Please help us. Read and study carefully the inserts that will be in the bulletin. Reflect prayerfully on what the liturgy is intended to accomplish. I trust that everyone will co-operate as we work toward building a more prayerful and grateful community of faith. Blessings, Msgr. Adam

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JAMES BOUTEN Several weeks ago we learned that our parishioner, JAMES BOUTEN, died suddenly from a heart attack. Many of you will remember James as the man who gave so much of his time, talent and treasure to caring for the yards here at All Saints. Almost every Saturday, James was here caring for the gardens, the flower beds and the Grotto Garden. He had a great love for the parish and took great pride in making grounds look "great!" He attended the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Mass each week and often helped as an usher. To find a person who loved his Church and his Catholic faith more than James would be a LONG search. At one time James was homeless. He lived for awhile at Star of Hope Mission...all the time coming to work here at All Saints on Saturdays. Living conditions there became unacceptable for him. He had no home. After consultation with Rose Mary Badami, we were able to get him into Magnificat House. He was happy there for several years until his death on September 2nd. We will miss (already miss) James and the pleasant gentleman that he was. The weeds are growing in the garden and James is not here to weed them out. More workers in the Gardening Society will be needed. There will be a memorial Mass for James Bouten on Saturday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church. All Are invited to come and honor his memory. His funeral was held at his family home in the northern states. May God grant him eternal rest and peace. Blessing Msgr. Adam

THANKSGIVING DINNERS SPONSORED BY FOOD PANTRY Groceries required to make a complete Thanksgiving Dinner will be given this year to approximately 100 families who are clients of the All Saints St Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. If you want to sponsor the cost of a turkey also, please include a $10 Gift Card from your grocery store.

The approximate cost of these items is $10 to $15. If you would like to personalize the bag by adding items that are a part of your family tradition, please do so.

Please return the bags to the church no later than the weekend of November 15th / 16th. The meals will be distributed to the families beginning November 17th.

Embark on a Pilgrimage with Mary You will experience a biblical walk through Mary’ life. Partici-pants will understand why Mary is an essential part of our Faith. Dr. Sri leads this DVD narrative on Mary’s life with visits to the places where key events occurred in the Holy Land. Dr. Sri seeks to introduce Mary to the viewer at a personal level through scripture, history and the Jewish cultures. It will reveal the sorrows, anxieties, and joys Mary had which speak to us in our journey of faith today.

St. Anthony Mary Claret, Claretian archbishop and founder. Anthony was born in Salient in Catalonia, Spain, in 1807, the son of a weaver. He took up weaving but then studied for the priesthood, desiring to be a Jesuit. Ill health prevented his entering the Order, and he served as a secular priest. In 1849, he founded the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, known today as the Claretians, and the Apostolic Training Institute of the Immaculate Conception, Claretian nuns. From 1850 to 1857, Anthony served as the archbishop of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. He returned to the court of Queen Isabella II as confessor, and went into exile with her in 1868. In 1869 and 1870, Anthony participated in the First Vatican Council. He died in the Cistercian monastery of Fontfroide in southern France on October 24, 1870. Anthony Mary Claret had the gift of prophecy and performed many miracles. He was opposed by the liberal forces of Spain and Cuba and endured many trials.
