DUBAWI COLT CLOSESORBY IN STYLE AT i1.4M

By Emma Berry

The perfect finale to the 2016 Goffs Orby Sale was provided

when the standout of the Wildenstein family's yearling dispersal,

a Dubawi (Ire) colt out of Classic heroine Beauty Parlour (GB)

(Deep Impact {Jpn}), became the sole yearling to breach the

million-Euro mark when selling for i1.4 million to John

Ferguson.

"This has to be the pedigree of the year in Europe," said Henry

Beeby from the rostrum as he urged Ferguson to counter bids

from a Goffs representative standing alongside Joseph Allen

during a protracted bidding duel for the first foal of the 2012

G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches winner.

Beauty Parlour herself will come under the hammer during the

November Sale at Goffs when she will be offered in foal to

Kingman (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) in the concluding part of

the Wildenstein Stables Dispersal which is being handled by The

Castlebridge Consignment. As the Orby Sale drew to a close, her

Dansili (GB) half-sister (lot 471) drew a bid of i270,000 from

Geoff Turnbull of Elwick Stud--the owner of GI Arlington Million

winner Mondialiste (Ire) (Galileo {Ire})--and was swiftly followed

into the ring by Beauty Parlour's show-stealing colt (lot 472).

Heading for the door and his plane back to England as soon as

he signed the docket, Ferguson had time to issue the briefest of

appraisals of Sheikh Mohammed's latest acquisition, saying,

"Lovely horse, great pedigree, you know the rest." Cont. p2

FIRST-UP RUNNERS ADD SPICE UNDER THE

LIGHTS by Alan Carasso

Two of Australia=s most-beloved sprinters, the locally based

Chautauqua (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}) and Queenslander

Buffering (Aus) (Mossman {Aus}) add a world of intrigue to the

first Group 1 event of the new racing season at Melbourne=s

Moonee Valley Racecourse in Friday=s G1 Moir S.

Both talented runners represented their country with flying

colors on the international stage in 2015. Chautauqua put

together a streak for the ages late last term, finishing second in

the G1 Newmarket H. while giving away tons of weight in March

before a scintillating defence of his title in a soft-turf renewal

the G1 T. J. Smith S. at The Championships Apr. 2.

The popular gray gelding turned in yet another breathtaking

performance in the G1 Chairman=s Sprint Prize in Hong Kong

May 1, coming from no-man=s land to record a somewhat

improbable neck success. Cont. p10

SESSION TOPPERS

Goffs Orby cont.

And indeed the rest is self-explanatory for a colt by one of the

world's best stallions out of a Group 1 winner by the most

dominant sire in Japan. Throw into the mix an Australian

champion, Might And Power (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ})--a half-brother

to Beauty Parlour's dam--and you have a colt with international

appeal as a stallion prospect should he fulfill his genetic destiny

on the racecourse.

Joseph Allen may have been denied on the top lot of the day

but, signing in the name of White Birch Farm, he earlier had

managed to recruit the second-most expensive of the

Wildenstein yearlings, lot 461, a Dansili filly out of the G1 Prix

Maurice de Gheest winner Porlezza (Fr) (Sicyos {Fr}). The

hammer fell for the half-sister to G3 Prix de Cabourg winner

Pontenuovo (Fr) (Green Tune) at i360,000.

International Presence Felt...

A strong start to the second session of the Orby followed by a

dramatic climax ensured that the sale as a whole saw a 2.5%

increase in turnover to i39,925,000 from 363 yearlings sold--10

fewer than last year and including the Wildenstein yearlings--for

a clearance rate of 84%. At i109,986, the average was up by 5%

and the median rose by 8% to i67,000.

The set of figures for the second day alone recorded turnover

of i19,238,000 for 174 horses sold at an average of i110,563

(+2.5%) and median of i60,000 (-3%). The 17 Wildenstein

yearlings fetched i2,726,000, selling at an average of i160,353

and median of i50,000.

As the sale concluded, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby

commented, "Twelve months ago we were reflecting on a

remarkable Orby Sale with no

less than four yearlings

realising over i1 million. That

we have made proper

advances in both average and

median this year with a single

millionaire is testament to the

depth of the trade over the

two days which is also

highlighted by a very good

84% clearance rate."

He continued, "The most notable aspect of Orby >16 has been

the depth of the buying bench with our regular supporters from

Ireland, Britain, across Europe and further afield finding strong,

top-of-the-market competition from a number of new investors

from USA, the Far East and Australia following concerted and

proactive marketing campaigns by our international agents and

the team at Irish Thoroughbred Marketing. As we worked to

attract them, we did so safe in the knowledge that the catalogue

had advanced again as vendors continue to send us a greater

share of their best and those that did so reaped the reward of a

truly international sale. As ever, we are indebted to each and

every one for entrusting us with their yearlings and will only

redouble our efforts on their behalf with every sale to repay

their faith in the Goffs service."

Bolger Family To The Fore...

Outside the Wildenstein yearlings, a New Approach (Ire)

half-sister to five black-type performers all by Galileo (Ire),

including dual Group 3 winner Cuis Ghaire (Ire), was the

highlight of the main section of day two of the Orby Sale when

sold by breeder Jim Bolger from his Redmondstown Stud for

i675,000.

The new owners of lot 250 remain a mystery, with buyer Ross

Doyle stating simply, "She's a very nice filly with a fantastic

pedigree who has been bought for a partnership."

That pedigree includes three siblings who have all come close

to Group 1 glory, with the aforementioned Cuis Ghaire having

been runner-up in

the Irish 1000

Guineas while her

sisters Gile Na Greine

(Ire) and Scintillula

(Ire) were second in

the G1 Coronation S.

and G1 Moyglare

Stud S., respectively.

The list of well-bred

European fillies

heading towards the paddocks in Japan will eventually be

enhanced by lot 358, Mountarmstrong Stud's daughter of

Shamardal out of the top-class racemare Alexander Goldrun

(Ire) (Gold Away {Ire}), who was bought on behalf of Koji Maeda

for i600,000 by Hiroshi Fukuda.

"She'll be coming back to Japan and has been bought with the

long-term plan of breeding," confirmed the agent on his first

foray to Goffs.

Alexander Goldrun, a five-time Group 1 winner in four

different countries for Noel O'Callaghan, played a leading role in

last year's Orby Sale when her as-yet unraced Frankel filly, now

named Goldrush (Ire), sold to China Horse Club for i1.7 million.

Zayat Stables Declare Intent...

Members of the first crop of War Front's top-performing

European runner Declaration Of War have found favour this

week and none more so than lot 272, the first foal of the

Listed-placed winner Sleeping Beauty (Ire) (Oasis Dream {Ire}), a

daughter of the Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nightime (Ire)

(Galileo {Ire}). The bay colt will be following his father across the

Atlantic after being bought for i475,000 by Zayat Stables.

"I loved this colt," exclaimed Justin Zayat, who is enjoying a

first visit to Ireland and, in partnership with Justin Casse and

David Ingordo, added another four yearlings to his family's string

of horses in training for next season, including a Kodiac (Ire) filly

out of Alexander Queen (Ire) (King's Best) and from the family of

Dandy Man (Ire) (Mozar {Ire}) for i360,000.

Referring to the colt, Zayat added, "He'll come back to America

and will go into pre-training at Ocala while we decide who will

train him. This is the first Declaration Of War we've bought,

which is exciting, as he's obviously a son of War Front and we're

expecting big things from him." Cont. p4

Goffs Orby cont.

Another operation to put their faith in Declaration Of War was

Juddmonte, whose solitary Orby purchase was lot 438, the

second foal of G2 Rockfel S. runner-up Cochabamba (Ire)

(Hurricane Run {Ire}), bought from Clare Castle Stud for

i350,000.

"She's from a family Prince Khalid knows really well and is a

gorgeous filly," said Lord Grimthorpe of the filly who traces back

to top producer Peace (GB) and is closely related to one of the

better 2-year-olds of this season in Global Applause (GB)

(Mayson {GB}).

Back In Form...

Form Bloodstock returned to the fray after a successful first

session to buy a well-related colt from the final crop of High

Chaparral (Ire) (Lot 266) for i450,000.

The first foal of a winning half-sister to the Wertheimers'

champion miler Gold Away (Ire) (Goldneyev), the colt was bred

by his consignor David Nagle of Barronstown Stud who bought

his grandam Blushing Away (Blushing Groom) for 300,000gns

back in 2002.

"He's for Mary Slack and will likely be trained by Mike de Kock

back in South Africa but nothing is set in stone," said agent

Jehan Malherbe.

The same price was also given for Croom House Stud's

Shamardal colt out of Ashley Hall (Maria's Mon) (lot 383), the

dam of this year's Listed Windsor Castle S. third Pedestal (Ire)

(Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and a half-sister to GI Toyota Blue Grass S.

winner Bandini (Fusaichi Pegasus). The late April colt was the

pick of Charlie Gordon-Watson and he will race next year in the

silks of Sheikh Joaan's Al Shaqab Racing.

Fillies In Demand...

An early highlight in the session came when Roundhill Stud's

sister to dual Group 1 winner Rizeena (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) (lot 258)

went the way of Blandford Bloodstock's Richard Brown for

i410,000.

"I can't say who has bought her but he's a patient owner and

this filly will be more of a 3-year-old type. She's a tall scopey filly

and will be given plenty of time," Brown commented.

Bred by Bobby and Honora Donworth from the Statue Of

Liberty mare Serena's Storm (Ire), Rizeena was the star

performer in the final years of Clive Brittain's training career,

winning the G2 Queen Mary S. and G1 Moyglare Stud S. at two

before returning to Royal Ascot to land the following year's G1

Coronation S. for owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum.

Serena's Storm's half-brother Puissance De Lune (Ire)

(Shamardal) was exported to Australia where he won twice at

Group 2 level and now stands at Adam Sangster's Swettenham

Stud.

Wesley Ward will train lot 351, an

Invincible Spirit (Ire) half-sister to five

winners out of the Diesis (GB) mare

Zuniga's Date and consigned by

Owenstown Stud. Gatewood Bell signed

the ticket at i400,000 on behalf of her

new owners Jim and Fitri Hay and said,

"We were underbidder on a couple of

yearlings yesterday and there's been a

bunch of nice horses here. We've missed a

few times but we're very pleased to have

bought this one."

Horses In Training Bring Curtain Down...

An unusual hiatus between the Orby Sale and the two-day

Sportsman's Sale which starts today was provided by 41 horses

in training as the Wildenstein Dispersal continued at Goffs.

Dubawi again provided the leading light for this section when

unraced 2-year-old filly Pavini (Fr) (lot 478) sold from John Oxx's

stable for i600,000 to White Birch Farm. The daughter of G2

Prix de Pomone winner Peinture Rare (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) was

not the only member of the draft to be signed for by Joseph

Allen, with lot 493, Achibueno (Fr) (Dansili {GB}), also attributed

to White Birch Farm at i300,000.

Patrick Lawley-Wakelin went to i350,000 on behalf of Robert

Evans for Bengala (Fr), a 2-year-old daughter of Pivotal (GB) and

champion racemare Bright Sky (Ire) (Wolfhound).

"I loved her and so did Mr Evans," said the agent. "He really

liked her pedigree and the fact that she is inbred 3 x 3 to

Nureyev was the most important thing for us. She will stay here

in training with John Oxx and we hope that Pivotal will work well

with Tonalist down the road." Cont. p5

NOTHING BUT NETGoffs Orby cont.

Alan Quartucci of American-based Northshore Bloodstock

signed for three juvenile fillies from the dispersal headed by lot

511, Asterina (GB), a Dalakhani (Ire) half-sister to Listed winner

Akatea (Ire) (Shamardal) who fetched i270,000.

Fully 40 of the 41 horses in training offered were sold for a

total of i3,113,000 at an average price of i78,325 and median

of i40,000. This brought the

tally for the first half of the

Wildenstein Stables Dispersal

to i5,859,000 with the 57

horses bringing an average of

i102,789 and median of

i40,000.

Concluding his appraisal of

the sale, Henry Beeby said,

"Of course today had an

added dimension with the

first part of the Wildenstein

Stables Ltd Dispersal and we would like to again record our

thanks to David Wildenstein for choosing Goffs. We do not

underestimate the significance of our appointment and are

delighted to have generated so much interest in the iconic

pedigrees that came under the Goffs hammer today headed, of

course, by the sales top price of i1.4 million and then some

very lively bidding for the older horses that finished the day. We

look forward to Part 2 in November with a truly mouthwatering

collection of broodmares, fillies and foals; rarely is such a

superior selection of thoroughbreds offered for sale at public

auction and the Goffs Team is incredibly proud to do so in our

150th Year."

"Well I had three fillies on my list for today--one was the session

topper, one I was lucky enough to be able to purchase (lot 351),

so I guess my pick would have to be the remaining one which

was the Iffraaj filly at Cregg Stud. She was a very pretty bay with

a sweet attitude and outlook to her. The pieces were in the right

places as far as I was concerned and she just had that athletic,

fluid swagger I like to see. Let's be honest--all of these horses will

look expensive and overvalued until they find the winners circle

but she seemed like one bought right to me. We were run down

in the Queen Mary a few years ago by a Rabbah-owned Iffraaj

on Rathmoy," said Lanigan, referring to the move back to the

newly refurbished yard previously occupied by Neville Callaghan

and his son Simon, now a successful trainer in California. "The

work that has been carried out there is really truly magnificent.

There are 78 boxes and superb facilities so it couldn't be much

better. I'm hugely excited by the move. We've had a great time

at Kingsdown which is a wonderful yard and are grateful to Mr

Nielsen for his support over the years. What I also like is that is

that the yard is at the top end of the Hamilton Road making

access to Bury Side so much more convenient. I hope to be

there for many years to come."

Lanigan will be returning to his roots in Newmarket, where he

also previously worked for the late Sir Henry Cecil. He also

trained from nearby Revida Palace for over four years.

Added Alan Cooper, racing manager to the Niarchos Family,

"We are delighted that David has leased such a fantastic yard in

Newmarket and we wish him well. The Niarchos Family has

always been pleased to support David."

MULLINS SPLITS FROM GIGGINSTOWN HOUSE The world of National Hunt racing was rocked on Wednesday

morning when it was announced by Willie Mullins that he would

no longer be training for Gigginstown House Stud.

Ireland's perennial champion trainer, Mullins' dominance of

the sport is so great that he was nearly crowned the leading

handler in Britain last season and was only denied by Paul

Nicholls on the final day.

Gigginstown have been the growing force in the National Hunt

scene in recent years

and claimed the owners'

championship in Ireland

for the fourth time

during 2015-16.

However, the two

parties have agreed to

go their separate ways

after Mullins raised his

training fees and

Gigginstown, which is

run by Ryanair's Michael

O'Leary and his brother, Eddie, refused to pay the new rate.

Gordon Elliott, who trained Don Cossack to win the

Cheltenham Gold Cup for Gigginstown in March, will be one of

the trainers to benefit from the split.

Mullins told At The Races: "We're parting company--it's

basically over fees, I imagine. I put up my fees for the first time

in 10 years and Gigginstown chose not to pay them. That's it,

we're just parting company. I'm not willing to try to maintain the

standards I have [without putting the fees up], so that's the way

it is."

In a statement released to RTE Sport, Gigginstown said: "As

Gigginstown House Stud has been unable to reach agreement

with Willie Mullins on an increase in training fees, we have

agreed--with considerable regret--to move the Gigginstown

horses to alternative trainers for the coming 2016/17 season.

Gigginstown wishes to sincerely thank Willie and all the team at

Closutton for the many Grade 1 races we have won together

over the past seven years. We hope that an agreement can be

reached at some time in the future which will allow Willie to

resume buying and training more graded winners for us. While

we part at this time with regret, we wish Willie and all the team

at Closutton continued success."

The combination have enjoyed Cheltenham Festival success

with the likes of Sir Des Champs and Don Poli in previous years,

while Valseur Lido, Outlander and the hugely-promising Apple's

Jade all achieved big-race glory in the maroon and white silks

last term.

Of all National Hunt trainers on both sides of the Irish Sea,

though, Mullins is possibly best placed to cope with the loss of

60 horses.

His stable stars such as Annie Power, Faugheen and Douvan all

wear the pink and green colours of Rich Ricci, while Graham

Wylie can also look forward to the season thanks to Yorkhill,

Bellshill and others.

Mullins went on: "Everyone that comes into my yard is treated

the same. I see enough people going to the wall in Ireland all the

time. We've evolved our methods of training, which obviously

costs a lot, and we're not prepared to sacrifice that. They've

been very good to us over the years, they've bought some

fantastic horses and there's a fantastic team of horses going to

whoever is going to get them, I don't know where they are going

to go. It's only been in the last few hours this has come about. I

wish them the best, it's the way it is, we move on. Whoever gets

the horses will be a big challenge to me being champion trainer,

they are a fantastic team of horses. They'll be very hard horses

to replace. Even with all the money in the world, lots of people

try to buy horses like that, but sometimes they just happen.@

Paddy Power make Elliott their new favourite to be champion

trainer for the first time at 8-11, with Mullins available at evens.

Elliott's arrivals will include Gold Cup third Don Poli.

HEARTBREAK CITY SHOOTS FOR CUP Heartbreak City (Fr) (Lando {Ger}) is to be prepared for the G1

Emirates Melbourne Cup after Australian Thoroughbred

Bloodstock bought into the Ebor winner.

Original owners, Here For The Craic Partnership, have retained

an interest in the 6-year-old who will be trained for the 'race

that stops a nation' by his current handler Tony Martin.

Heartbreak City was allotted 117 pounds for the Flemington

showpiece on Nov. 1, when the new part-owners will hope to

win the showpiece event for the first time after near-misses

with Jakkalberry (Ire) (Storming Home {GB}) (third in 2012) and

Dandino (GB) (Dansili

Confirmation that

Heartbreak City is heading

to Australia means the

Lando gelding will not run

in the Betfred Cesarewitch

at Newmarket on

Saturday week.

"An Australian group

have got involved, I don't

know what percentage,

but the original men are still very much there," said County

Meath-based Martin. AHe was in the Cesarewitch, he was in a lot

of things, but the intention is to set him qualified for quarantine

and send him for the Melbourne Cup. It's a handicap. He's in off

a racing weight and he has a right to be there."

Martin added: "As for who will ride him, the people out there

have put forward about six names in the frame. There's nothing

confirmed. We'll be listening to their advice and see how we go.

Our men are still very much involved. The intention is to go to

Melbourne and take it from there."

AIR FORCE BLUE TO ASHFORD

Last season=s European champion 2-year-old Air Force Blue

(War Front--Chatham, by Maria=s Mon), described by trainer

Aidan O=Brien as the best juvenile that he has ever trained, has

been retired from racing and will stand at Coolmore America=s

Ashford Stud in Kentucky. Air Force Blue=s stud fee will be

announced at a later date.

AWith the exception of Frankel, who has made such a brilliant

start to his stud career, Air Force Blue is Timeform=s

highest-rated juvenile in nearly 20 years. In fact, he=s the

highest-rated juvenile ever from the Danzig line,@ Ashford Stud

Manager Dermot Ryan said.

From the extended female family of W.T. Young=s champions

Flanders (Seeking the Gold) and Surfside (Seattle Slew), the

$490,000 KEESEP yearling purchase was campaigned by Susan

Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith to victories in last

year=s G1 Dubai Dewhurst S., G1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National

S. and G1 Keeneland Phoenix S. Air Force Blue=s dam Chatham, a

multiple stakes placed Overbrook homebred, was purchased by

Arthur Hancock=s Stone Farm for $190,000 while in foal to Arch

at the 2009 Keeneland November Sale.

AArthur Hancock has bred many very good horses over the

years and all of our team loved Air Force Blue when we saw him

as a yearling at Keeneland,@ Ryan added. Cont. p3

CHROME READY TO ROLL IN AWESOME AGAIN Taylor Made Farm and Perry Martin=s California Chrome

(Lucky Pulpit) will face six rivals when he goes for sixth straight

victory in Saturday=s GI Awesome Again S., a AWin and You=re In@

event for the GI Breeders= Cup Classic to be held five weeks later

over the same Santa Anita oval. The champion will break from

the rail in the seven-horse field.

AHe galloped a mile and five-eighths this morning,@ said Alan

Sherman, son of and assistant to trainer Art Sherman. AThe

horse is very happy. Everything=s going great.@

California Chrome won two-thirds of the Triple Crown in 2014

and was named champion 3-year-old colt and Horse of the Year

that season. Sherman thinks the strapping chestnut is even

better now as a 5-year-old.

AI think he=s better now than he was before the Kentucky

Derby,@ Sherman confirmed. AHe=s definitely a bigger, stronger

horse than he was when he was three.@ Cont. p3

Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards presented by

Godolphin, are now available on the TIEA=s website,

www.godolphinusawards.com.

The three finalists are detailed below. To watch their videos,

Everett >Powell County= Charles

Groom for Stone Farm, Paris, Kentucky

Nominator: Arthur Hancock

Everett Charles, known to his co-workers as >Powell County=

after the county in which he was raised, has worked at Stone

Farm since 1980. Since then, he has worked with horses at all

stages of life: foals, weanlings, two-year-olds, mares and

stallions. But his concern and care for the Ababies and mamas@

is what he finds most rewarding. His loyalty, passion, humility

and undeniable horsemanship are just a few reasons why Powell

deserves to be considered for this award. On the horses in his

care, Powell said, ATake care of them like you would your own

family because they are part of your family.@

Leon Hamilton

Foreman, Ashview Farm, Versailles, Kentucky

Nominator: Wayne Lyster

ALeon has worked for Ashview Farm for more than 35 years,@

wrote Lyster in his nomination letter. AWhether it=s handling

mares and foals, breaking young horses or driving the van, Leon

has done it all. He=s been a mentor to countless people who

have worked under him and beside him. There is nobody you

would rather have there to help you than Leon. Simply put, Leon

has the best hands with a horse that I have ever seen; strong

and gentle.@

AIt=s a great honor to be chosen as a finalist out of so many

people. It=s really overwhelming for me to be a finalist,@ Leon said.

James Sebastian

Handler, mares and foals, Claiborne Farm, Paris, Kentucky

Nominator Walker Hancock

James Sebastian started at Claiborne Farm in May of 1966.

At 75, he is the oldest employee to work with the

thoroughbreds. AHis wealth of knowledge and experience means

we trust James to do the usual unusually well. He embodies the

characteristics required for a farm employee dedicated to

breeding excellence. We have a running joke that James must

hold the Guinness World Record for foals delivered--we

estimate around 10,000 in his lifetime,@ said Hancock.

AI love Thoroughbreds. I love everybody out here. The

Hancocks are about like my own family,@ said James.

The Dedication to Breeding Award is presented to an

individual farm employee who has shown talent in

Thoroughbred breeding horsemanship, consistency and

reliability in a farm role. They must have at least 10 years of

service in the breeding industry and must be pivotal in his or her

employer=s success. The top three finalists, plus a guest, are

invited to attend the ceremony Oct. 7 at Keeneland. The winner

receives $10,000 and a trophy, and the runners-up win $2,500.

TOUGHEST 'OMBRE (c, 3, Tale of the Cat--True Sensation

{MSW, $308,486}, by Itaka) showed an immediate affinity for

the turf, breaking his maiden at fifth asking in his first try over

the surface at Tampa Bay Downs Mar. 4. Seventh in Aqueduct=s

Woodhaven S. Apr. 23, the bay set the pace and held on to be

fourth at 101-1--beaten less than a length--in the GIII Pennine

Ridge S. here June 4. He found 10 furlongs to be too far when

12th in the July 9 GI Belmont Derby, and recently carved out the

fractions before fading to fifth in a nine-panel off-the-turfer at

the Spa Aug. 14. Removing blinkers here as a 7-1 shot, the

Maryland-bred secured an ideal spot in midpack as a trio of

leaders tussled through a swift half-mile in :45.61. Put to a drive

on the turn, Toughest >Ombre uncorked a prolonged rally on the

rail and forged to the front in the final furlong to triumph by 3/4

of a length over Cave Johnson (Broken Vow). The winner=s dam

won three stakes races and has a weanling colt by Line of David.

HIGHWAY STAR (f, 3, Girolamo--Stolen Star {MSP, $210,544},

by Cat Thief) won her first two starts over this strip May 30 and

July 13, respectively, and traveled north to Saratoga to finish

fourth over a grassy mile in the New York Stallion Series S.

Aug. 11. She made a move for the lead and leveled off to check

in third going nine panels in the Fleet Indian S. at the Spa Aug.

26. Prominent from the outset as the even-money favorite, the

chestnut chased the pace from the outside through a half-mile

in :47.18 and moved closer on the turn. Gaining control in upper

stretch, she edged clear to post a 2 3/4-length victory over

Tahoe Tigress (Stephen Got Even). Lifetime Record: SP, 5-3-0-1,

HAMPTONS HOLIDAY (c, 2, Harlan's Holiday--Charlotte's Rose,

by Street Cry {Ire}) rallied from well back to finish third in a

5 1/2-furlong dash at Saratoga July 28 and closed into a slow

pace to report home second when extended to seven furlongs

there Aug. 29. Adding blinkers here, the bay raced at the front

of the second flight behind a quarter-mile in :22.46 and began to

advance along the rail on the turn. The colt quickly took second

turning for home, set sail for the tiring pacesetter and moved

clear to score by 1 1/4 lengths. First-timer Sicilia Mike

(Girolamo) closed well up the rail to complete the exacta. The

winner sold for $90,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling and

progressed to go for $165,000 as an OBS April juvenile. His

second dam is GISW Island Sand (Tabasco Cat). Lifetime Record:

CASHCONSIDERATIONS (f, 3, Super Saver--Latin Lynx, by Forest

Wildcat) finished fourth on debut going six furlongs at Saratoga

Aug. 17 and recently set the pace and faded to check in a distant

third in a nine-panel off-the-turfer at the Spa Aug. 26.

Surprisingly allowed to drift up to odds of 5-1 from her 5-2

morning-line quote for a barn that excels with turf runners, the

dark bay tracked the pace in a tight spot between horses

through a half-mile in :50.08. Patiently handled as the field

cornered for home, Cashconsiderations shifted outward to find

a clear path and finished with a flourish to score by a length over

pacesetter Town Fair (Speightstown). The winner, a $230,000

KEESEP yearling, is a half to GI Alfred Vanderbilt H. winner Sean

Avery (Cherokee Run), GISW, $398,640; W W American (Quiet

American), SP, $153,039; and Ingrid (Gemologist), an impressive

first-out maiden winner at Saratoga Aug. 24. Lifetime Record:

BUTTON MY BUTTON (f, 3, Colonel John--Encore Saritta {SP,

third on debut sprinting five furlongs over the turf at Delaware

July 21 and was hammered down to 6-5 favoritism for this first

try over a synthetic track. Racing in midpack behind a quarter-

mile in :22.64, she made steady progress on the far turn and

closed up the rail to win going away by 5 3/4 lengths. Yes Sir Mr.

Kato (Mr. Katowice) won a photo for second. The winner=s dam

More Than Ready) worked steadily in preparation for this career

debut at Churchill Downs, culminating in a bullet five-furlong

gate breeze in 1:00 flat (1/14) Sept. 21. Pounded down to 1-2

favoritism for a barn that has enjoyed considerable success at

this meet, the bay pressed the pace from the outside through a

quarter-mile in :22.88, shook clear on the turn and romped

home 13 1/4 lengths in front. Fellow first-timer

Chocolateicecream (Wilburn) finished second best. Will Call is

in midpack on the outside behind a half-mile in :49.14 and
