Local Athletes Shine at State Relay ChampionshipsLittle Athletics NSW State Relay Championships
were held last month at the Campbelltown Athletics Stadium in Leumeah. It was the largest event on the Little Athletics NSW calendar in terms of competitors, with many local junior (U8 to U11) and senior (U12 to U17) athletes competing in relay events as well as Shot/Discus and Long Jump/High Jump.
Local club, Camden Little Athletics, was well represented at the event. Under 11 Boys athlete, Zac Gibson, competed in the 4 x 100m Relay. The team came 4th in their heat and just missed out on a place in the fi nals. “I like Little Athletics because I get to meet new friends from many of the diff erent clubs” said Zac.
Zac’s Mum, Melissa, has four children involved in Little Athletics with the club. “It’s great because they’re all at the one location in the outdoors in a very family friendly environment” said Melissa. If you are interested in your children joining Little Athletics or would like further information, you can contact Camden Little Athletics at www.camdenathletics.org.au.

Here we are, with our SECOND publication and our LAST for 2015. We return in February 2016.
Someone once told me, that as we get older, each year passes by faster. The reasoning said to be behind this is mathematically based , in that the older you become, each year represents a smaller and smaller portion of your life. When you are ONE, a year is your whole life , whilst when you are 40, one year is only a small fraction of your life (1/40th)and each year seems to pass faster.
An interesting, possibly useless fact!Spare a thought for those that are
entering this Festive Season with emptiness and a heavy heart, whether it’s the first year or a repeat of many without that special someone, the pain seems to remain the same.
Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.
Enjoy your Community News and Merry Christmas from US to YOU!

Local families celebrated with a picnic as Mayor of Camden, Cr Lara Symkowiak, together with AVJennings, offi cially opened Clifton Park at Arcadian Hills, Cobbitty recently.
An offi cial ribbon cutting ceremony by Mayor Lara Symkowiak and Emma Coverdale, AVJennings Marketing Manager NSW, marked the occasion. Residents christened the new park with a fun family day out including a mini country market, live music, baby animal farm, face painting and sausage sizzle.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Lara Symkowiak, said, “I am honoured to offi cially open Clifton Park. Thank you to AVJennings for working in partnership with Camden Council to deliver such a fantastic green space for residents of Arcadian Hills and the wider community. Camden is a great place to live, work and play and off ers wonderful open spaces for our community to enjoy – and Clifton Park is no exception.”
Emma Coverdale, AVJennings Marketing Manager NSW, said she is proud to have contributed to delivering this beautiful public amenity that can be enjoyed for years to come.
“The park is a thoughtfully designed area for residents and local families to enjoy. With sheltered picnic areas, walking paths, an outdoor fi tness circuit, children’s playground and off -leash dog area, it’s a friendly inviting place where friends and families can meet, relax, have fun and spend quality time together.
Open spaces such as this are an important part of building communities where friends and neighbours can come together, share experiences and make happy memories. We were delighted to see such a strong turn out with over 200 people enjoying the amenity Clifton Park has to off er,” added Ms Coverdale.
Arcadian Hills is well on its way to becoming a thriving neighbourhood. Stage one has completely sold out, and only a limited number of AVJennings freestanding and semi-detached homes remain for sale in stage two. Prices start from $660,000. In addition, 17 land lots released for sale on the morning of the park opening sold out over that weekend.
Arcadian Hills provides the perfect blend of country serenity with an urban way of life. It’s located nearby to the Camden town centre, newly opened Oran Park shopping centre and the proposed South West rail link corridor. Set against a backdrop of rolling green pastures and a picturesque heritage dam, Arcadian Hills off ers a range of modern living options to suit a variety of needs and budgets.
For more information on Arcadian Hills, please visit www.avjennings.com.au or call 131 878.

At this time of year we get to the time when everything starts to spin a little faster. It's the count down to Christmas. Kid's holidays are approaching, Christmas parties abound at work, in social groups, family gatherings, and it's all spin, spin, spin, until fi nally.. in some foreign land we get to the break and a lucky few collapse for a couple of days.
Like you we believe this isn't what life's all about. Sure it's great to see the kid's Christmas concert. Getting family together is good for some of us - hard for others. There's goodness in a celebration with work colleagues after a hard year. A part of life, but not the fullness of life.
Real life is found in great relationships. Real life is found in a great community. Real life is found in Jesus.
Which all sounds great but.. where do we actually get all of that? Not on the shelves at Woolies. At NewLife Anglican we're keen for everyone to have a taste of that life so we're off ering Oran Park a present - the Oran Park Community Carols. We ran our fi rst carols three years ago and 250 people came. Last year we saw over 1600 local mums, dads, grandparents, retirees, friends and families join us on the grass at Gardner Reserve (opposite the church).
This December on Saturday 19th we'll be doing it for the fourth time and you're invited.
From 5:30pm we'll have jumping castles, face painting, a climbing wall, and a petting zoo for the kids - all totally free.
We'd love you to bring a rug and your singing voice as well as some cash to take advantage of our piping hot BBQ sausage sandwiches, icy cold drinks, as well as our vendor's great coff ee and ice creams.
On the night we take up a collection for the Cobbitty RFS to help our local fi ries. And.. we fi nish the night at 9:15pm with one of the best local fi reworks displays you'll see. So as the world begins to spin - keep this date in your diary. More details: www.facebook.com/OranParkCommunityCarols

As we know Christmas 2015 means diff erent things to diff erent people: for some it is a time to spend with family and friends; whereas, for others it is a time to spend another Christmas alone without the presence of those they love most. For some, Christmas this year will be fi lled with emotions of grief and sorrow, as they
remember loved ones who have died recently; whereas for others this day is the start of a hope fi lled future as they witness children and grandchildren celebrating their 1st Christmas.
For some, Christmas 2015 is fi lled once again with mixed emotions, as they look towards an uncertain 2016. Whereas for others, like those from our local community serving in the many war torn regions of our world this Christmas will be celebrated amidst violence and bloodshed.
For some, Christmas 2015 is another year to continue the traditions that have been passed on for generations. Whereas for others, like the parish community of St Mary MacKillop Oran Park (that began on 22 June this year and I am blessed to serve as their Parish Priest) this Christmas is a time of ‘new beginnings’ as we celebrate Christmas together for the fi rst time (with Christmas Masses that will be held outdoors at 5pm and 8pm on Christmas Eve at St Justin’s School, 94 Oran Park Dr, and at 8am on Christmas Day at St Mary Mother of God Church, Leppington)
Though no matter what Christmas 2015 means to us, and no matter what emotions and feelings, hopes and fears we bring to this Christmas; you and I are reminded by the events of the 1st Christmas - when a small, poor child that Christians name as ‘the Son of God’ was born - that Christmas is not simply about the presents and the parties (however special these may be) but an opportunity for all of us to strive to promote amongst our families and friends and our neighbourhoods those values that are so central to this special time of year – like love, peace and goodwill to all. Merry Christmas to one and all.

Does Your Teacher Take the Cake?Buying Christmas presents for friends and family is hard
enough, but buying a gift for teachers can sometimes be daunting.
Michel’s Mount Annan Store Manager Cassandra Johnstone is asking Harrington Park and Oran Park residents to head to their Facebook page to nominate their favourite teacher to win a Christmas hamper fi lled with tasty treats.
Cassandra said their competition is about rewarding local teachers for all of their eff ort and hard work they put in throughout the year.
“Most teachers have to spend their holidays preparing for the next school year, they deserve to take a break and enjoy a sweet treat,” Cassandra said.
Cassandra said the Christmas hampers they are giving away will be fi lled with tasty treats from Michel’s new Christmas range.
“The new range includes favourites like our homemade Gingerbread House, and new Chocolat Christmas Pudding, Chocolat Berry Pavlova and Chocolat Indulgence Surprise Cake.”
Michel’s Patisserie’s new range of Christmas delights are perfect for parents who are searching for a suitable food related gift for teachers.
“Not all parents have the time to handcraft gifts for their teachers, but most still like to get them something personal that they can enjoy over the school break,” Cassandra said.
“We are happy to be able to give parents a suitable gift for teachers that their entire family can enjoy.
“It is important for parents to remember teachers do not expect a gift, most are happy with a handwritten card or note and will appreciate anything that is given to them.”
For more information about Michel’s Patisserie or to see their full Christmas range of Patisserie delights visit www.michels.com.au.

Private Home Buyers and Sellers, Meet Your Online Matchmaker
The new online venture Virtual Knock aims to make private property sales easy and aff ordable.
Harrington Park locals Michael and Melissa Preston have always loved buying and selling properties privately, however the greatest challenge has been in fi nding the right seller or buyer at the right time.
After hours of knocking on doors in the area they wanted to buy in, the couple envisaged an easier way: an online buyers’ registry that would connect ideal buyers and sellers instantly.
The result is Virtual Knock, the new Australian property portal that is completely free for buyers and only $299 for sellers to list their property for up to 12 months.
Both parties can enjoy greater fl exibility with inspections and terms of sale, without the need to pay thousands for agent commissions or costly advertising campaigns.
Michael has some tips for those looking to buy or sell. “Private property sales can provide a better experience for everyone involved. For buyers, the property inspection is the perfect time to ask the homeowner directly about schools, public transport and the general neighbourhood, as no one knows the area better than them.
“For sellers, it’s a great chance to highlight your property’s most desirable features and to directly contact interested buyers without delays from middlemen. Focus on using good quality images and a detailed description to portray your property in its best light.”
Buyers and sellers can visit www.virtualknock.com.au to register.

Protecting Your Lifestyle in the Face of Disaster
Like many people, you probably work hard and enjoy the benefi ts of a comfortable lifestyle as a result. Have you ever considered what would
happen if you were unable to work, or if your fi nances were adversely aff ected by an unforeseen disaster? Don’t let all your hard work go for nothing – take steps to protect your family’s future.
Insurance is the best way to protect your lifestyle and help ensure that no matter what happens in the future, you and your family will still be able to enjoy the standard of living you are used to. In spite of the need for insurance, research undertaken by advocacy organisation Lifewise suggests that only 31% of Australians have income protection cover.
Your income is the key to being able to maintain your lifestyle, and for a large number of us, if we were to lose our source of income either through unemployment or being unable to work due to illness or injury, our lifestyles would be seriously aff ected. Have you considered what would happen to your family if you were unable to earn an income?
There are a number of diff erent insurance options that can help you protect your fi nancial future, including income protection and total and permanent disability insurance (TPD). Life insurance is also essential if you have anyone who depends on you fi nancially. In the event of your death, having suffi cient cover on your life insurance could mean that your family would be in a position to pay off any debts and maintain their standard of living after you were gone.
You work hard so that your family can enjoy life. Make sure that lifestyle is protected into the future!
