1. How reversing is done in my ship?

(I explained its by altering the position of the fuel p/p cam follower) Further asked how this

altering of position of cam follower is done.

2. Asked me to explain this with the help of thr maneuvering dia.

but the surveyor was not fully satisfied he wanted a detail dia!3. By seeing the dia: Explain the reversing procedure with this dia. Explain about the

interlocks. What if T/G is engaged? What will happen to the air?

4. VIT? Explain in detail.

Result: 'Come next time' !

For cal of CO2 bottles

1kg of co2 = 0.56 cub.m in volume

1 bottle = 45.2 kg

I think The below mentioned calculation gives u no of 45.2 kg bottles req for flooding the space (cant provide any refrence CROSS CHECK IT WITH OTHER SOURCES... )

30 % for cargo space = 0.3*gross volume of cargo space

the plant is shut down.The valve should be opened when the inert gas plant is shut down to

prevent leakage past the non-return devices from building up any pressure in the inert gas line

i dono fa sure bro..but some boilers do hav oil sensons inside boiler!! n u can also see oil traces

in d hot well as d drain of steam trap!! n if d oil traces r less in boiler do scum blow down,

increase d chemical dosage to keep alkalinity n phospate in max level!! if oil level s too much, uhav to do alkali blow out usin trisodium phospate or magnesium sulphate!!

1. check for the oil condition(colour ,smell and source of contamination)

2. remove the bottom plug and keep a filter while draining to see any metal particles.

3. check for hot spots on the crank shaft

4.check for any signs of metal contact.

... 5. check for any movement of the bearing from its position.

6. check for axial clearance of connecting rod.

7. check for the cranck shaft driven lobe oil pump weak link8. check the crank case breather line.

9 .check connecting rod bolts tightness

10. check for the signs of connecting rod bolts extention.

11. check the connecting rod bolts for any damage and check lashing.

12.check lube oil filter for particles.
