from New Product Introductions
• Predictable and Sustainable Product
and Process Innovation
• Lower Total Cost of Ownership of
Enterprise PLM platform
• Reduced Implementation Risks
Leveraging Oracle’s Application Integration Architecture (AIA), the
Oracle Design-to-Release Integration Pack for Agile Product Lifecycle
Management(PLM) for Process and Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM)
delivers seamless synchronization of product content between
distributed product development and manufacturing organizations,
enabling your enterprise to accelerate time to market for new
products and reduce costs, while improving product quality and
minimizing supply chain disruptions.
End-to-End Design-to-Release Business Process
This Design-to-Release Process Integration Pack (PIP) is a pre-built, best practice integration
process that is also configurable and extensible to meet your unique process needs. Based
upon open standards-based Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), it is designed to enable
seamless synchronization of your enterprise product record and recipes across your supply
chain and extended product network. Out-of-the-box, this integration supports enterprise
processes that connect the PLM product record and recipes in Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle
Management for Process with Oracle E-Business Suite Process Manufacturing.

Figure 2 - New Formula/Recipe Introduction Process Flows
The core enterprise processes supported by the Design-to-Release PIP cover the introduction
and update of finished goods, raw materials and formulas, which enable transparency and
collaboration between the product development and manufacturing functions.
The PIP delivers an out-of-the-box best practice process, supported by standard
configurations and data mappings. Following the ANSI/ISA-88 standard for recipes types,
this process allows for the creation of the General or Site Recipe in PLM for Process
followed by the syndication to OPM. If the General Recipe is syndicated to OPM it can then
act as the foundation for site-specific variations.
Seamless Manufacturing Release
This PIP supports the seamless exchange of item and formula content between Oracle Agile
PLM for Process and E-Business Suite for new item and formula introductions as well as
updates. These best practice processes orchestrate a near real-time and highly responsive
design-to-manufacturing release process, from Agile PLM for Process to Oracle Inventory
and Oracle Process Manufacturing.
The New Item (Raw Material and Finished Good) Introduction and Update processes allow
for the authoring of items in Agile PLM for Process and synchronization to Oracle Inventory
items, where further data enrichment may occur. When an item has reached an end-of-life
stage in PLM for Process, a notification is sent to Oracle Inventory to take appropriate
action.
The New Formula/Recipe Introduction and Update processes allow for the creation and
versioning of recipes in Agile PLM for Process and synchronization to Oracle Process
Manufacturing formulas. These formulas can be copied and modified in OPM to include
site-level variations, and recipes can be further created based on the formula and
supplemental routing information.
These processes are triggered by the standard Agile PLM for Process workflow capabilities
which can be configured to meet specific customer needs.

Predictable and Sustainable Innovation
Early visibility of better quality data leads to a smoother design hand-off between Product
Development and Manufacturing, resulting in significant improvements in time-to-market
and time-to-volume metrics. It also has a positive impact on margin, cost, and quality with
reduced disruption on the supply chain, when new products are introduced or product
updates are released to other enterprise functions, including Materials Management,
Procurement, etc.
At the core of the integration is an architecture that allows for the adaptability and reusability
of core business processes. The Oracle Application Integration Architecture provides the
flexibility to easily modify existing processes to enable:
• Re-configuring business processes using reusable objects and services
• Extending the process to additional applications without re-coding the integration
• Protect your changes across upgrades. When upgrades are performed on the
integration or connected Oracle applications, your changes will be carried forward
Configurable and Extensible
The integration process and architecture supports a robust configuration, process monitoring,
and error handling framework, enabling business and IT users alike to actively manage the
process and reduce latencies typical to a cross-application process. This utility leverages the
Oracle Fusion Middleware Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) Process Manager.
Also included in the solution is a user-friendly configuration capability for defining domain
value mappings that allows business and IT users to define and manage value maps for key
elements (attributes, organizations, etc.) supporting the business objects being synchronized.
Domain Value Maps (DVM) leverage the Fusion Middleware Service Oriented Architecture
Suite and is highly configurable and extensible to customer-specific mappings.

The Oracle Advantage
Built on the Oracle Application Integration Architecture framework, the integration includes
everything you need to rapidly enable service-oriented applications—from business
processes to common objects and services to SOA Governance—at a greatly reduced cost.
AIA Process Integration Packs are designed to be easily extended to evolve as your business
changes, allowing you to respond to customer and market needs with greater agility and
flexibility. The result is a complete end-to-end solution designed to give you faster time to
benefit and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).
For more details on AIA or the Design-to-Release PIP visit http://www.oracle.com/aia.
Bottom Line: Lower TCO for your Enterprise PLM Platform
Unlike traditional point-to-point integrations, typically based on proprietary third-party
technologies, the Oracle Design-to-Release PIP represents a SOA-based integration built on
open standards. Since this PIP is owned, sold, and maintained by Oracle, customers will not
have to incur the risk or cost of a one-time 3rd party integration.
The Design-to-Release Process integration is also the first step towards building a highly
configurable, extensible, and sustainable platform to support Oracle’s next generation,
integrated Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management solutions, connecting your PLM
platform to your Oracle (and 3rd party) CRM, SCM and ERP systems to accelerate
innovation and increase profitability.
