Barr Library’s Authors at Your Library series is just one of the many new programs the Library has been able to oer since expanding in size last year. This series is designed to introduce patrons to authors of all types. This Summer the Library is focusing on bringing in several authors to discuss their books and writing careers.

"We want to give our patrons access to a world of ideas and new programs," said Library Director Michael Steinmacher. "Adding a new multipurpose room and teen room has allowed us to oer such programs as the Author Series, as well as, homeschooling meetings, book groups, Sit n' Stitch, Teen Hour, NBTweeners, Skype with Your Soldier and Soldier Story Time."

This Author Series features something for everyone. Each program is free and will feature a session with the author discussing their work, an opportunity for participants to ask questions, and concludes with a book signing. Limited numbers of copies of each author’s work will be available for sale at the program.

JOSH ELDER will be speaking about his work in graphic novels and comic books on July 16 at 2:30 PM.

MICHELLE WILLINGHAM, a romance novelist, discusses “the birth of a book” on July 21 at 6:30 PM. MICHELLE CUTHRELL, a Military spouse, recounts coping with deployment and oers insight to Military Families on August 18 at 6:30 PM.

DOUG STANTON, a New York Times Bestselling Author, will appear September 14 at 6:30 PM. Stanton's gripping In Harm’s Way recounts the terrifying and tragic sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, and Horse Soldiers, about a band of Special Ops troops riding into combat against the Taliban in the days following 9/11. Tickets are free but required for his program. Tickets can be picked up at the Library starting July 18.
