On Saturday, August 3rd, Opportunity House Athletics’ teams Heat and Thunder
traveled to Elgin to compete in the district softball tournament. Both teams played
two games each and won both games to earn gold medals and advance
on to the state competition.
A few athletes also participated in the skills competition that tested their skills in
four categories: running the bases, fielding the ball, hitting and throwing.
Congratulations to Mark Clausen and Alvin Haynie on their gold medals and Jason
Ingram on his silver medal!
Heat and Thunder will compete in the Outdoor Sports Festival in Decatur
on September 7th. Good luck, Heat and Thunder!
Make a difference and purchase your tickets from Aktion Club!
A portion of the proceeds will go to Aktion Club and towards the
ingredients used at the Make A Difference DKC Mobile Pack event.
The $10,000 winner will be selected at the end of the event on
November 17th and does not need to be present to win.
For more info, contact Kelsey in Rec!
On the morning of Sunday, July 14th, Aktion Club members went to Jonamac
Orchard to volunteer at the rest stop for Biking with Beanzie. There was a constant
stream of visitors that popped in to enjoy some of the many snacks and water or
Gatorade offered to the riders. Aktion Club has volunteered at Biking with Beanzie
for several years and it is one of our favorite volunteer activities!
Aktion Club is also getting ready to elect their new club officers for the
2020 year, which is right around the corner!
Also, be on the lookout for more information about an upcoming pet supply drive
that Aktion Club will be hosting in September and October. There will be a box at
the main building for pet food and toy donations that Aktion Club will deliver to
Tails Humane Society in October!
