Background

The Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnosis (OPD-2) is internationally established as one of the maininstruments available for clinical diagnosis and scientificresearch, being frequently used as an auxiliary tool inthe selection of therapeutic interventions.

Aims

To assess inter-rater agreement for the different axes of the instrument when scoring clinical interviews.

Method

Sample

To assess inter-rater agreement were used interviewsof seventeen subjects 52 interviews.

Measures

- Socio-demographic questionnaire- Clinical interviews based on the OPD-2 protocol

- Checklist of OPD-2

Results

Axis IV - Structure is one of the axis on which it had thehighest inter-rater agreement (0,75).

Axis I - "Experiences and prerequisites for treatment,"obtained a concordance of 0,81. However, only 21items were considered.

Axis III - Conflict is the axis that has lower inter-rater agreement.

Discussion

The OPD-2 is an instrument that has a reasonable, good agreement inter evaluators.

Axes in which there is greater agreement  Axis I  and Axis IV , which may be due to be axes more objective,

observable criteria as assessed directly, the relationshipwith the patient.

The lower reliability of  Axis III  – Conflict  can be relatedto an more psychodynamic axes, in which hypothesesare formulated based on the interpersonal relationshipswith the patient, which makes a more subjective axis.

Should be emphasized that the quality of the examinedmaterial, as well as the evaluator’s clinical training andexperience, play an important role in the quality of

subsequent evaluations.
