Four Fold increase in the market size of renewable energy

industry anticipated by 2022 as of now. Platter full of fresh

business opportunities in line for the value chain players.

Planned Renewable Power

Capacity Aspirations of India by

2022

A movement towards a “zero carbon world” that has been observed in India as well over the last

decade is seen to be even more aggressive in past 2-3 years, which might transform the energy

landscape of the country at a broader scale. With India being keen on fostering the development

of renewable energy potential, it has gathered lot of attention from the international and domestic

players.

With no time, the RES industry in India has gain

momentum by enrooting serious flow of funds of above

USD 20 Billion from domestic as well as global market till

the last fiscal (FY’2015-16). It is pertinent to note that

during 2015, India was ranked among the top 5

developing countries of the world for highly investing into

RES, courtesy the flow funds into the solar facet. The

initiatives taken by the Indian government to push the

solar industry has really worked well in pulling more than

decent investments into the domain. It is significant to

note that the grid connected solar power projects have

safely secured above USD 6 Billion of investments till

May 2016 with an estimated installed capacity of 7.5 GW.

Not only this, but the over all RE business potential in India

is likely to offer a huge market size of more than USD 200

Billion within seven to eight years down the line.

Not only for solar, but India’s quest for harnessing more of all green energy

sources has surpassed a major milestone this May, when the total RE capacity

of India by reaching to a level of 42,850 MW in May 2016 overtook the

cumulative portfolio of large hydro power projects in India. Wind energy being

the largest contributor , supports nearly 26.8 GW to the existing RE capacity.

However, the segment witnessed a stealth mode in terms of investments over

the last 16-18 months. But, given the planned capacity addition for wind in

upcoming years, the segment still holds an investment potential of close to USD

80-85 Billion by 2022.
