I’ve been thinking... by Dr. Chuck Hampton, Transition Pastor

I can smell the turkey and dressing and taste the sweet potatoes already! Thanksgiving month has finally arrived with all the trimmings! What a great privilege to use this month to display appreciation to our Great Provider, the Lord Jesus!

And we all know what follows on the heels of the Thanksgiving season, the Christmas Festival! Tickets to this weekend of worship to the King of Kings will be available starting Sunday, November 13. Our Operation Christmas Child Program will also be Sunday, November 13, at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary. This is a joyful occasion when we engage in missions to all the little children of the world. It is our great privilege this year to be the official Operation Christmas Child Collection Center which will be open Monday, November 14-Monday, November 21 at the Lodge.

Our monthly Men’s Luncheon will be on Monday, November 14, at 11:30 am in Fellowship Hall. David Pannell, writer for the Daily Journal and Pastor of Common Ground Christian Church in Wren will be our guest speaker.

The Deacon Ministry will be hosting an Ordination Worship Service on Sunday, November 20, at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary. We will be ordaining our new deacons and J.B. Long in the

Pastoral Ministry. This is an extra special time for these guys and our HBC family in this worship event dedicated to the service of Jesus. Please note that Wednesday will be on Tuesday, November 22, during Thanksgiving Week. The meal will be at 4:45 pm with Prayer Meeting and Bible Study at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Finally, Sunday, November 27, will be the celebration of the entrance of our Lord Jesus’ into our hurting world with the Advent Wreath Fellowship at 5:00 pm in theFellowship Hall. This is a meaningful time of transition from the season of thanksgiving for His provisions to the time where we celebrate His birth! By the time we finish with November, we will be hungry! Deb and I hope you enjoy your feasts, but most of all the special people in your lives. We are so thankful to be engaged with you during this season for His glory!

The best of Christ to you and yours!Pastor Chuck

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

Starting in 1888, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® was established to empower the international missions efforts for Southern Baptists. After more than a century, the annual offering continues its steady growth. Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God. Offering evelopes will be available through-out the month of November in the pew racks. Please pray and give generously to help Harrisburg reach its $90,000.00 goal.

a word to parents,

Harrisburg Day School is so thankful to have a new Director! Mrs. Lynne Bratton, one of our four-year-old teachers, has accepted God’s

call to be our new Day School Director, and she is already doing a wonderful job.

We really are in need of more willing hearts to serve in Extended Session. Please volunteer to help keep our babies through three year olds during our morning worship services. This is such a vital ministry, and we would love for you to be a part of it. We have two adults in each room, so maybe your spouse or a friend can volunteer with you. You will only be asked to serve four times a year, one Sunday a quarter, for one morning service. You can choose whether you serve in the early or late service, and you can let us know which age group you would like to work with – babies, ones, twos or threes. Please prayerfully consider becoming an ETC Volunteer! For more information or to volunteer, call Angela Mitchell (823-7124) or Nelda Hartley (823-7110). THANK YOU to those who already serve in ETC! You are such a blessing to our little ones and their families!
