Warning

In order to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injuries,persons operating the appliance must adhere to the followingsafety precautions:

It is essential to read the operating instructions before using thewashing machine.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONSThe washing machine must be grounded. Connecting the applianceto ground reduces the danger of electric shock in the event of amalfunction. The grounding is a protective conductor which providesa path of least resistance for the current. The washing machinecomes complete with a power cord and plug with the correspondingprotective conductor. The power cord plug must be inserted into asuitable outlet that has been installed and grounded in compliancewith all applicable local codes.

WARNING: Incorrect grounding of the appliance will run the risk ofelectric shock. In case of doubt, get in touch with a qualifiedelectrician and arrange to have your cabling inspected.

Do not replace or make any changes to the plug supplied. If thereis no suitable socket available, a socket must be installed by aqualified electrician.

Do not use a damaged washing machine.

Do not expose the washing machine to outdoor weatherconditions.

Do not install the washing machine in an area where there is a riskof freezing conditions. Frozen hoses may burst or split, and thereliability of the electronic control unit may be impaired attemperatures below freezing point.

Before connecting the washing machine, make sure that theconnection data on the data plate (voltage and connected load)match the domestic electricity supply. If in doubt, request theconnection data from a qualified electrician.

Do not connect the washing machine to the domestic electricitysupply by a multi-socket adapter, extension lead or similar. These donot guarantee the required safety of the machine (fire hazard due tothe risk of overheating).

The washing machine is not intended for maritime applications orfor use in mobile units such as motor homes or aircraft. However,installation in such scenarios may be possible under certainconditions. Get in touch with Miele's Technical Service departmentregarding these specific requirements.

Do not make any changes or repairs on the washing machine ifthis is not expressly permitted in these operating instructions.

Only Miele is permitted to replace a damaged power cord. Mieleservice technicians use original power cords from Miele.

If hot-water systems are not used for longer than two weeks, theremay be a buildup of hydrogen under certain conditions. HYDROGENIS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot-water systems have not been in use forlonger than two weeks, allow hot water to run from all valves forseveral minutes before operating the washing machine. This reducesthe formation of hydrogen. Refrain from smoking and keep awayfrom naked flames while the water valves are open. The gas will beflammable during this time.

Remove the door or destroy the door lock before disposing of thewashing machine.

Use

Children are not allowed to play with, on, or inside the washingmachine. If you are operating the washing machine in the presenceof children, the children must be supervised at all times.

The temperature of the porthole glass becomes very high duringwashing. Danger of burning! Refrain from touching the portholeglass. You must therefore keep children away from the porthole glassduring the wash cycle.

Only use the washing machine for washing fabrics with a carelabel stating that they are suitable for machine washing. Otherapplications may be dangerous.

Do not wash any fabrics which have been cleaned, washed, orsoaked with cleaning agents containing solvents (e.g. benzine) orother flammable substances. These fabrics release vapours whichcan ignite or explode. Do not add these kinds of fabric to a load ofwashing.

Do not use any solvents or other flammable substances orexplosive materials in the washing machine. These materials canrelease vapours which can ignite or explode.

Never use solvent based cleaning agents on or in the washingmachine. Surfaces are damaged on contact with cleaning agents.

Always make sure that the drum is stationary before reaching in toremove laundry. Do not touch the drum whilst it is still rotating.

Do not make any alterations to the machine.

Miele tumble dryers and Miele washing machines can be installedas a washer-dryer stack. A Miele washer-dryer connection kit isrequired as an optional accessory for this. Please ensure that thewasher-dryer connection kit is suitable for the Miele tumble dryerand the Miele washing machine.

If installing the machine on a Miele plinth (available as an optionalaccessory), please make sure you order the correct one for thiswashing machine.

Should detergent enter the eyes, rinse out immediately with plentyof lukewarm water. If accidentally ingested, seek medical adviceimmediately. People who have sustained damage to the skin or whohave sensitive skin should avoid contact with the detergent.

The maximum dry laundry weight is 17.6 lb (8 kg). See the“Program chart” for the maximum recommended loads for individualprograms.

How the control panel works

The , , , , , and sensorbuttons react to fingertip contact.Selection is possible as long as therespective sensor button is lit.

If a sensor button is brightly lit, thismeans it is currently selected

If a sensor button is dimly lit, thismeans it can be selected

After a wash program has beenselected with the program selector, therecommended temperature (in °C) andspin speed (in rpm) light up brightly.

The CapDosing sensor buttons areused for activating cap dosing.

– Detergent (for the main wash only)

Time display

After the program has started, theprogram duration will appear on thedisplay in hours and minutes.

When Delay start is being used, theprogram duration will appear after theDelay start time has elapsed.

Sensor buttons

– After touching the sensor button,a later start time for the program(Delay start) can be selected. Onceselected, lights up brightly.

– The duration of the Delay start periodis selected by touching the or sensor button.

The Delay start time selected willappear in the time display.

After the program has started, the Delaystart time will begin to count down.

Once the Delay start time has elapsed,the program begins and the estimatedprogram duration appears on the timedisplay.

Start/Stop sensor button

Touching the Start/Stop sensor buttonstarts the selected program or cancelsa program that has already beenstarted. The sensor button flashesslowly as soon as it is possible for aprogram to be started and then lightsup constantly after the program hasstarted.

Before using for the first time

Damage from incorrectinstallation and connection.Installing and connecting thewashing machine incorrectly willcause serious damage to property.See “Installation”.

Removing the protective foiland stickers Remove:

– The protective foil from the door

– Any stickers (if present) from the frontand the lid

Please do not remove any labels(e.g. the data plate) which are visiblewhen you open the door.

Remove the drain hose elbowfrom the drumAn elbow piece for the drain hose isstored in the drum.

Pull open the door.

Remove the elbow piece.

Shut the door with a gentle swing.

This washing machine has undergonea complete functional test at thefactory and some residual water willtherefore remain in the drum from thisprocess.

For safety reasons, spinning is notpossible until the machine has beenprepared for use for the first time. Toactivate the spinning function, you mustrun a wash program without laundryand without detergent.

Using detergent could result in anexcessive build-up of foam!

The ball valve is activated at the sametime. The ball valve prevents detergentescaping from the suds container intothe sump during a wash program, thusmaking maximum use of the detergent.

Before using for the first time

Running the first program Turn on the tap.

Turn the program selector to Normal.

The washing machine is now switchedon and the temperature hot+ lights upon the control panel.

Touch the Start/Stop sensor button.

The program starts and the symbollights up on the control panel.

After 10 minutes, the indicators dimand the Start/Stop sensor buttonstarts flashing.

At the end of the program

At the end of the program, the Anti-crease function is switched on. The symbol lights up on the controlpanel, : appears on the timedisplay, and the drum occasionallyrotates.


The door will be unlocked.

Reach under the recessed grip andpull the door open.

Useful tip: Leave the door slightly opento allow the drum to dry.

When the program has ended, turnthe program selector to .

The washing machine is switched offagain and is now ready for use.

Energy savings

– 10 minutes after the beginning of theAnti-crease phase, the indicators dimand the Start/Stop sensor buttonstarts flashing.

– 15 minutes after completion of theAnti-crease phase, the washingmachine switches off completely andthe door lock is released.

Environmentally friendly washing

Energy and water consumption

– To get the most out of your machine,load the maximum dry load for theprogram you are using.The energy and water consumptionwill then be the lowest in relation tothe size of the load.

– When smaller amounts of laundry arewashed, the automatic loadrecognition system will reduce theamount of water and energy used.

– Use the Express program for smaller,lightly soiled loads.

– Modern detergents make it possibleto wash at lower temperatures (e.g.20°C). Using the correspondingtemperature settings will save energy.

– To maintain the hygiene of themachine, carry out a hot wash above60°C at regular intervals. The indicator will come on to remindyou to carry out a hot wash.

Detergent consumption

– Do not exceed the amounts ofdetergent recommended on thepackaging.

– Adjust the dosage to the level ofsoiling of the laundry.

– Reduce the amount of detergent withsmaller loads (approx. ⅓ less thanthe amount recommended can beused when washing a half load).

When drying with a tumble dryer

Select the highest possible spin speedfor the wash program to save energy inthe subsequent tumble dryer cycle.

Empty all pockets.

Damage due to foreign objects.Nails, coins, paper clips, and so oncan cause damage to garments andcomponents in the machine.Check the laundry before washingand remove any such foreignobjects.

Sorting the laundry

Sort the laundry by colour and bycare label. Most garments have afabric care label in the collar or sideseam.

Useful tip: Dark fabrics often containexcess dye and should be washedseparately several times before beingincluded in a mixed load. Wash lightand dark coloured items separately.

Pre-treating stains

Badly soiled areas and stains shouldbe cleaned as soon as possible,preferably whilst still fresh. Stainsshould be carefully dabbed off usinga soft, colourfast cloth. Do not rub!

Useful tip: Stains (e.g. blood, egg,coffee, tea) can be pre-treated usingsome handy tricks which can be foundin the Miele guide to laundry care.Please contact Miele directly or submita request via Internet page to obtain orview a copy of this manual.

Damage due to solvent-basedcleaning agents.Cleaning agents containing benzine,stain remover, etc., can damageplastic parts.When pre-treating a stain, make surethat plastic parts do not come intocontact with cleaning agents.

Risk of explosion due to solvent-based cleaning agents.When using solvent-based cleaningagents, an explosive mixture maydevelop.Never use solvent-based cleaningagents in the washing machine.

General tips

– Curtains: Remove lead weights firstor place in a laundry bag.

– Remove or sew in any looseunderwiring in bras or shirt collarstiffeners.

– Close any zips, attach Velcrofasteners, fasten hooks and eyes etc.before washing.

– Fasten duvet covers and pillow casesto prevent small items from beingrolled up inside them.

Do not wash any items in this machinewhich are specified by the manufactureras not washable on the care label (symbol).

Opening the door

Take hold of the door and pull itopen.

Check the drum for pets or foreignobjects before loading it withlaundry.

The most efficient use of energy andwater is achieved when a full load iswashed. However, do not overload asthis reduces cleaning efficiency andcauses creasing.

Unfold the laundry and load loosely inthe drum.

Mixing both large and small itemsgives better wash results and alsohelps distribute the load evenly duringspinning.

Useful tip: Please note the maximumload for different wash programs.

Closing the door

Make sure that no items are caughtbetween the door and the seal.

Shut the door with a gentle swing.

Program selectionThe washing machine is switched on byturning the program selector to a washprogram.

Turn the program selector to therequired program.

The estimated wash time is shown onthe time display and the pre-settemperature and spin speed light up onthe control panel.

Selecting a temperature and spinspeed

The wash program’s pre-settemperature and spin speed light upbrightly. The choice of temperaturesand spin speeds selectable for thewash program light up dimly.

Touch the sensor button for thetemperature desired. It will then lightup brightly.

Detergent dispenser drawerThis washing machine requiresparticularly efficient detergent. Adherestrictly to the dispensing amountssupplied by the detergent manufacturer.The detergents must be marked withthe following label:

Filling with detergent

Pull out the detergent drawer and adddetergents to the compartments.

Chlorine bleach for removingstains or liquid detergent for thepre-wash

Detergent for the main wash andsoaking

Fabric softener, liquid starch, orcapsules

Tips for dispensing

Adjust the detergent dosage to the levelof soiling of the laundry and themaximum load. Reduce the amount ofdetergent with smaller loads (e.g.reduce the amount of detergent by ⅓when washing a half load).

Too little detergent:

– The laundry is not cleaned properlyand may become grey and hard tothe touch over time.

– Can lead to a build-up of mold in thewashing machine.

– Grease is not completely removedfrom the laundry.

– Can lead to limescale deposits on theheater elements.

Too much detergent

– Poor wash, rinse, and spin results.

– Causes higher water consumption asan extra rinse cycle is automaticallyactivated.

– A greater burden on the environment.

Dispensing aids

Use dispensing aids (e.g. balls) if theseare supplied with the detergent,particularly when using liquid detergent.

Using chlorine bleach

Damage due to chlorine bleach.Textiles may be discoloured or theirfibres damaged.Only use chlorine bleach on suitablefabrics.

Chlorination must be activated in theprogrammable functions beforechlorine bleach is first used.

Chlorine bleach may be used in thefollowing programs:

– Normal

– Wrinkle-free

– SaniWash

– Dress Shirts

– Extra White

Dispensing chlorine bleach

Follow the manufacturer'sinstructions on the packaging.

The extra option pre-wash must notbe selected.

Pour max. 60 ml of chlorine bleachinto the chamber.

The chlorine bleach is addedautomatically 10 minutes before the endof the main wash.

Using powder detergent

The detergent dispenser drawercontains an insert for liquid detergent inthe compartment as standard. Thisinsert must be removed to use powderdetergent.

It is not possible to use powderdetergent in the compartment.

A pre-wash cannot be carried outwhen using powder detergent.

Remove the detergent dispenserdrawer.

Remove the insert for liquiddetergents from the compartment.

Useful tip: Reinsert the insert into thedetergent dispenser drawer before nextusing liquid detergent.

Using detergent tablets or pods

Always put detergent tablets or podsdirectly in the drum with the laundry.They cannot be added via the detergentdispenser drawer.

Using fabric softener and liquidstarch

Fabric softenersmake garments soft to handle and helpprevent static cling when tumble drying.

Liquid starchis synthetic and provides good stiffnessto fabric.

Natural starchstiffens and gives body to fabric.

Adding fabric softener

Add the fabric softener or the liquidstarch to the compartment. Do notexceed the maximum level mark.

It will be automatically dispensed in thefinal rinse cycle. At the end of theprogram a small amount of waterremains in the compartment.

If starching frequently, clean thedispenser compartment, especiallythe siphon tube, regularly.

CapDosingThree different types of capsule areavailable:

= Fabric care (e.g. fabricsoftener, proofing agent)

= Additives (e.g. detergentenhancers)

= Detergent (for the main washonly)

Each capsule contains the correctamount for one wash cycle.

Capsules are available to order fromMiele's online shop, Miele's customerservice, or from your Miele dealer.

Capsules pose a health risk.The ingredients of capsules can behazardous to health if they areswallowed or come into contact withskin.Keep capsules out of the reach ofchildren.

Inserting a capsule

Open the detergent dispenser drawer.

Open the lid of the / compartment.

Press the capsule in firmly.

Close the lid and press it firmly shut.

Close the detergent dispenserdrawer.

The capsule is opened by the act ofinserting it in the detergent dispenserdrawer. The contents can run out ofthe capsule if you then remove itfrom the drawer before it is used.Dispose of opened capsules.

4. Adding detergent

The contents of the capsule will beadded to the wash program at thecorrect time.

During CapDosing, water intake tothe compartment is solely via thecapsule.Do not add any additional fabricsoftener to the compartment.

Remove the empty capsule at theend of the wash program.

For technical reasons, a small amountof water will remain in the capsule.

Switching off/Changing CapDosing

In order to switch off CapDosing,touch the brightly lit sensor button.

In order to change CapDosing, touchone of the other capsule sensorbuttons.

Colour run and dye removers/dyes

Damage due to colour run/dyeremovers.Colour run and dye removers cancause corrosion in the washingmachine.Do not use colour run or dyeremovers in this washing machine.

Dyes suitable for use in domesticwashing machines can be used.However, please note that the salt usedin the dyeing process can causecorrosion to stainless steel componentsin the machine if you use dyefrequently. Always observe the dyemanufacturer’s instructions carefully.

The door will lock and the program willstart.

– As long as the symbol is flashingon the control panel, you can addlaundry.

– When the symbol lights upconstantly, the door is locked untilthe end of the program.

If a Delay start time has been selected,this will count down on the time display.At the end of the Delay start time orimmediately after the program hasstarted, the program duration willappear in the time display.

Energy savings

After 10 minutes, the indicators dim.The Start/Stop sensor button will flashslowly.

You can reactivate the indicators:

Touch the Start/Stop sensor button(this does not have any effect on arunning program).

6. Program end – removing the laundry

Program endThe time display shows 0:00. The symbol will remain lit up in thecontrol panel. The door is locked in theAnti-crease phase.

There is a spin cycle after the mainwash and between the rinse cycles. Areduction in the final spin speed willalso reduce the interim spin speed asappropriate. If a spin speed of less than700 rpm is selected for theNormal program, an Extra Rinse phaseis carried out.

Delay start

With Delay start, you can delay the startof a program from 30 minutes up to amaximum of 24 hours. This allows youto make use of night-time economyelectricity rates, for example.

Changing the programAfter the successful start of a program itis no longer possible to select adifferent program.

If you would like to change theprogram, you have to cancel theprogram.

Cancelling a programYou can cancel a program at any timeafter it has started.

Cleaning the drum (Hygiene info)Washing at low temperatures and/orusing liquid detergent can causebacteria and unpleasant odours to buildup in the washing machine. Use theSanitize program with temperature Sanito clean the machine. This should bedone at the latest when the indicatorlight comes on.

Cleaning the housing andcontrol panel

Risk of electric shock.Voltage is present when the washingmachine is switched offDisconnect the machine from theelectricity supply before cleaning ormaintenance.

Cleaning the water inlet filterThe washing machine has two filters toprotect the inlet valve. You shouldinspect the filters approximately everysix months, or more often if there arefrequent interruptions to the externalwater supply.

Cleaning the filter in the inlet hose

First turn off the tap.

Unscrew the inlet hose from the tap.

Remove the rubber seal 1 from theconnector.

Using needle nose pliers, take hold ofthe plastic filter bar 2 and remove it.

Clean the filter.

Reassemble the appliance in reverseorder.

Using pliers, carefully loosen theribbed plastic nut on the inlet valveand unscrew.

Use needle nose pliers to withdrawthe filter by the bar.

The machine shakesduring the spin cycle.

The machine feet are not level. Level the machine and adjust the feet correctly.

The laundry has notbeen spun properly andthe laundry is still wet.

The machine detected an imbalance during the finalspin and reduced the spin speed automatically. Wash large and small items together in order to

achieve a more even load distribution.

Strange pump noisescan be heard.

Not a fault.Slurping noises occur at the start and end of thepump sequence as a normal part of operation.

Large amounts ofdetergent residueremain in the detergentdispensing drawer.

The water pressure is too low. Clean the filter in the water inlet. Please note that the water pressure must be at

least 100 kPa (1 bar).

Powder detergent used in conjunction with watersofteners tends to become sticky. Clean the detergent dispenser drawer and in

future, add detergent first and then the watersoftener.

General problems with the washing machine


Fabric softener is notcompletely dispensedor too much waterremains in the compartment.

The siphon tube is not correctly positioned orclogged. Clean the siphon (see “Cleaning and care –

Cleaning the detergent dispensing drawer”).

At the end of theprogram there is stillliquid in the capsule.

The small pipe in the detergent dispenser draweronto which the capsule is placed is blocked. Clean the small pipe.

Not a fault.For technical reasons, a small amount of water willremain in the capsule.

There is water next tothe capsule in the fabricsoftener compartment

The Cap sensor button was not activated or anempty capsule was not removed at the end of thelast wash cycle. Make sure that you remember to activate the

Cap sensor button the next time you insert acapsule.

Remove and then dispose of the empty capsule atthe end of each wash cycle.

The small pipe in the detergent dispenser draweronto which the capsule is placed is blocked. Clean the small pipe.

An unsatisfactory wash result


Liquid detergent is notachieving the requiredresults.

Liquid detergents do not contain bleaching agents.Consequently, fruit, coffee, and tea stains cannotalways be removed. Use powder detergent containing a bleaching

agent. Use the appropriate capsule or add stain removers

to the compartment. Never put stain removers and liquid detergent

together in the detergent dispenser drawer.

Grey, greasy particlescling to washed laundry.

Insufficient amounts of detergent were used. Thelaundry was heavily soiled with grease (oils,ointments). Use more detergent or liquid detergent with this

type of soiled laundry. Before washing the next load, run a 60°C program

with liquid detergent but without a load.

White residues whichlook like powderdetergent are seen ondark fabrics afterwashing.

The detergent contained compounds (zeolites) to aidwater softening which are not soluble in water. Thesehave ended up on the laundry. Try and brush off the residues with a soft brush

once the laundry is dry. In future, wash dark fabrics using a detergent

which contains no zeolites. Liquid detergents donot usually contain zeolites.

Use the Darks/Denims program to wash thefabrics.

The door will not open


The door cannot bepulled open during aprogram.

The drum is locked during a program. Touch the Start/Stop sensor button to cancel the

program.

The program is cancelled, the door will unlock, andyou will be able to pull it open.

There is still water in the drum and the machine isunable to drain. Clean the drain filter and the drain pump as

described in “Opening the door in the event of ablocked drain outlet and/or power cut”.

After the program iscancelled, flashingbars .........appear on the timedisplay.

To protect the user against scalding, the door cannotbe opened if the suds temperature is higher than55°C. Wait until the temperature in the drum has

decreased and the bars have stopped flashing onthe time display.

Installation surfaceA concrete floor is the most suitableinstallation surface. It is far less proneto vibration during the spin cycle thanwooden floorboards or a carpetedsurface.

Please note:

The machine must be level andsecurely positioned.

To avoid vibrations during spinning,the machine should not be installedon soft floor coverings.

If installing on a wooden joist floor:

Install the machine on a plywoodbase (at least 59 x 52 x 3 cm). Thebase should span several joists andbe bolted to the joists, not just thefloorboards.

Useful tip: If possible, install themachine in a corner. This is usually themost stable part of the floor.

Injury can occur if the washingmachine has not been adequatelysecured.During installation, the washingmachine must be secured on a plinthto be made available on site(concrete or brick), in order to ensureit cannot fall or slip.Secure the washing machine using aclamp/fastening bracket (MTS floormounting kit – available from yourMiele dealer or Miele Servicedepartment).

Transporting the washingmachine to its installation site

Danger of injury due to unsecurelid.The fixings at the back of the lid maybecome brittle due to externalcircumstances. There is a danger ofthe lid being pulled off when carryingthe appliance.Before carrying the appliance, checkthat the lid is secure where itprotrudes at the back of theappliance.

Install the covers onto the holes.

Secure the shipping struts to theback of the washing machine. Makesure that the top catch is locatedabove the holder.

Levelling the machineThe washing machine must standperfectly level on all four feet to ensuresafe and proper operation.

Incorrect installation may increaseelectric and water consumption andmay cause the machine to move about.

Unscrewing and adjusting the feet

The four adjustable screw feet are usedto level the washing machine. All fourfeet are screwed in when the washer-dryer is delivered.

Using the wrench supplied, turncounter nut 2 in a clockwise direction.Then turn counter nut 2 together withfoot 1 to unscrew.

Use a level to check that the washingmachine is standing level.

Hold foot 1 securely with a pipewrench. Turn counter nut 2 againusing the wrench supplied until it sitsfirmly up against the housing.

Risk of damage due toincorrectly aligned washing machine.There is a danger of the washingmachine moving about if the feet arenot secured.Turn all four counter nuts for the feetuntil they sit firmly up against thehousing. Please also check this forthe feet which did not needadjustment.

The Miele water protectionsystemThe Miele water protection systemprotects all parts of the washingmachine and its surroundings fromwater damage.

The system mainly consists of thefollowing components:

– the inlet hose

– the electronic unit, and the drainageand overflow protection

– the drain hose

Inlet hoses

– Protection against the hoses burstingThe inlet hose can withstandpressure of more than1,015.26 psi/7,000 kPa.

Electronic unit and machine housing

– Sump: Any leaking water from thewashing machine is collected in asump in the base of the machine. Afloat switches off the water inletvalves. This shuts off the water intakeand prevents any more water fromflowing into the machine. Water in thesuds container is pumped away.

– Overflow protection: This preventsthe washing machine from taking intoo much water and overflowing. Ifthe water level exceeds a certainlevel, the drain pump switches onand pumps the excess water away.

Drain hose

The drain hose is protected by aventilation system which prevents themachine from being emptiedcompletely.

Water intakeThe washing machine should beconnected to a domestic water supplyin accordance with current local andnational safety regulations. The Germanauthorities do not require it to have anon-return valve as the washingmachine has been designed to complywith DIN regulations.

The flow pressure must be at least100 kPa and must not exceed anoverpressure of 1,000 kPa. If it is higherthan 1,000 kPa, a pressure reductionvalve must be installed.

For the connection, a water tap with a¾“ screw thread is required. If notavailable, only a qualified installer mayconnect the washing machine to thewater supply.

The connection points are subject towater supply pressure.Turn on the tap slowly and check forleaks. Correct the position of the sealand union if necessary.

Maintenance

Only use a genuine Miele hose that hasbeen tested to withstand pressure ofover 1,015.26 psi/7,000 kPa should youever need a replacement.

A filter is located in the open endof the inlet hose and another in theintake point to protect the inlet valve.Neither filter may be removed.

DrainageThe suds are drained through a drainpump with a 1 m delivery head. For thewater to drain freely, the hose must beinstalled free of kinks.If required, the hose can be extended toa length of up to 5 m. Accessories areavailable from Miele or from your Mieledealer.

Drainage options:

Please note:

– Hook the hose over the edge andsecure!

– If the water is pumped into a sink,be sure that it can drain awayquickly enough. Otherwise there isa risk of water overflowing or ofsome of the drained water beingsucked back into the machine.

2. Connected securely to a plastic drainpipe with a rubber nipple (there is noneed to use a non-return valve).

3. Connected securely to a floor drain.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONSThe washing machine must begrounded. Connecting the applianceto ground reduces the danger ofelectric shock in the event of amalfunction. The grounding is aprotective conductor which providesa path of least resistance for thecurrent. The washing machinecomes complete with a power cordand plug with the correspondingprotective conductor. The plug mustbe inserted into a suitable socket.The socket must be installed andgrounded in accordance with thelocally applicable regulations.WARNING! Incorrectly connectedground conductors will pose thedanger of electric shock. Contact aqualified electrician or customerservice staff if you have any doubtsas to whether the washing machinehas been grounded properly.Do not replace or make any changesto the plug supplied. If there is nosuitable socket available, one mustbe installed by a qualified electrician.

Instructions for electrical connection

The installation must be carried out byan experienced and qualified specialistin accordance with local regulations.

Accessing the programming level

Before you begin, ensure the following:

– The washing machine is switched on(the program selector is pointing to awash program).

– The washing machine door is open.

Touch the Start/Stop sensor buttonand hold it down during steps –.

Close the washing machine door.

Reduce temperature

At high altitudes, water has a lowerboiling point. Miele recommendsactivating the reduce temperaturesetting at altitudes of or above2,000 m to prevent water from boiling.The maximum temperature is reducedto 80°C, even if a higher temperatureis selected.

Maximum rinse level

The water level in the rinse can bepermanently set to the highest value.

This function is important for allergysufferers as it achieves excellent washresults. The water consumption will beincreased.

Suds cooling

Additional water flows into the drum atthe end of the main wash to cool thesuds down.

Suds cooling takes place when aNormal program with a temperature of70°C or higher is selected.

– To prevent the danger of scalding ifthe drain hose is hooked over theedge of a sink or basin.

– Where the drainage pipes do notcomply with DIN 1986.

Anti-crease

The Anti-crease function reducescreasing after the end of the program.

At the end of the program, the drumcontinues to turn at intervals for up to30 min. The door can be opened at anytime during the Anti-crease phase.

Low water pressure

If the water pressure is below 100 kPa(1 bar), the program will be cancelledand the fault message will appear.

You can activate the automaticaddition of chlorine bleach at the endof the main wash.
