    Florence Griffith-Joyner, known as Flo Jo, was a world-famous track star in the 1980s.She was born in Los Angeles on December 21st, 1959. Her first Olympic competitionwas at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. She won a silver medal in the 200 meterrace. She became well-known for her long, painted fingernails and her amazing,colorful clothes. When Florence went to the Olympics in Seoul, Korea in 1988, shewon three gold medals. After the 1988 Olympics, she retired from competitive sportsand started her own fashion business. On September 21st, 1998, Florence Griffith-Joyner died during an epileptic seizure.
