Sanitizing Wipes to clean classroom surfaces.

It is greatly appreciated when students donate the following items:

Tissues are needed throughout the year, but especially during cold and allergy season.

Hand Sanitizer to help control the spread of germs.

Old, clean, cotton socks to be used as “erasers” for our white boards.

The children will be bringing home their textbooks to cover.

• If you are using the stretchy fabric book-covers, then you will need the JUMBO size for most of their books to prevent damage to the book spines.

• The homemade, paper-bag book-covers work well. They fit the different sized books properly, and they allow the students to label and decorate their books, too. Please take care to not get tape directly on the books when making these type of book-covers.

Please support your child’s participation in this year’s reading theme at home.

Highland data supports the studies that show reading is directly related to

On your child’s birthday, you may send in a treat for the class if you wish. Treats can be brought in either first

thing in the morning or dropped off in the office during the day. If your child has a summer birthday or any other day that we are not in school, please send in a note if you’d like to send in a treat.

All students in fourth grade are required to maintain an Assignment Book with teacher modeling and guidance. This organizational tool should go home and back to school every day.

Parents can support assignment responsibility by checking Assignment Book daily !

All homework is to be turned in the morning of the day it is due. Please contact me if problems occurred with the completion of homework.

• Please guide your child in correctly using the pockets of this folder at home. The pockets are labeled “Return to School” side for homework, notes, etc. and the “Take Home” side which should be emptied every evening.

• Students should be bringing home graded work. If you are not seeing any graded papers, then check with your child.

• This organizational tool is meant to hold homework assignments, returned graded assignments, school informational letters, parent or teacher notes, etc. as they are transported between home and school daily.

• Use this folder, along with the assignment book, to build great organizational strategies in your child. Strive for student independence as a goal this year.

Page 20: Open house '05 power pt. presentation

• For the safety of the school, we request that all visitors enter and sign-in at the office.

• Students should arrive in the classrooms no earlier than 8:45 a.m. Students arriving earlier must wait in the office for their safety. The Latch Key Program is available to families in need of this service.

• When the daily routine changes and students need to leave school early or get picked-up by an adult, send in a note or call the office. Adults sign out children in the office or art room, not from the students’ classrooms.

• Please encourage student responsibility by not entering the classrooms after 3:45 p.m. to get forgotten homework, books, etc. on a routine basis.

CommunicationIt is so important to keep lines of communication open between home and school. Contact between adults can often clarify what happens at school and home. Since I’m not always available to meet before or after school, it always works best to schedule a

conference to discuss your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with questions or concerns the following ways:

• a written note sent in with your child. ( I prefer)• phone message left with the main office• e-mail sent to [email protected]

Also, look at my webpage for classroom newsletters and other information.
