Absolute Maximum Parameters
Maximum means that the op-amp can safely tolerate the maximum ratings as given in the data sheet of such op-amp without the possibility of destroying it.
Supply Voltage (+/-Vs): The maximum voltage (positive and negative) that can be safely used to feed the op-amp. (+/- 18 volts)
Dissipation (Pd): The maximum power the op-amp is able to dissipate, by specified ambient temperature.(500mW @ 80° C).
Absolute Maximum Parameters
Differential Input Voltage (Vid): This is the maximum voltage that can be applied across the + and - inputs. (+/- 30 volts)
Input Voltage (Vicm): The maximum input voltage that can be simultaneously applied between both input and ground also referred to as the common-mode voltage. (+/- 15 volts)

INPUT PARAMETERS
Input Offset Voltage (VIO) Input Bias Current (IB) Input Offset Current (IOS)Input Resistance/ Impedance (Rin or Zin)
Input Offset Voltage (Vio)The DC voltage that must be
applied between the input terminals to force the quiescent DC
output voltage to zero or other level, if specified.
Input parameters
Input Bias Current (IB)
The average of the current into the two terminals with the output at zero volts
Input parameters
Input Offset Current (IOS)
The difference between the currents into the two terminals with the output at zero volts.
Input parameters
Input Resistance/ Impedance (Rin / Zin)
The resistance between the input terminals with either input grounded.
Input parameters
OUTPUT PARAMETERS
Output Resistance/ Impedance (Rout or Zout)Output Short Circuit Current (IOSC)Output Voltage Swing (+/-VO max)Output Offset Voltage (Vos)
Output Resistance/ Impedance (Ro/Rout or
Zout)The resistance between the output
and the ground.
Output parameters
Output Short Circuit Current (Iosc)
The maximum output current available from the amplifier with the output shorted to the ground, to either supply, or to a specified
point.
Output parameters
Output Voltage Swing (Vomax)
The maximum peak output voltage that the op-amp can supply without
saturation.
Output parameters
Output Offset Voltage (Vos)
The unwanted voltage during when both input terminals have common
signals.
Output parameters
Adjustment to zero the DC output voltage of an OP AMP to counter the effects of input offset voltage
and/or current.
OFFSET NULLING
MISCELLANEOUSPARAMETERS
Open Loop Gain (AOL)
The ratio of the peak-to-peak output voltage swing to the change in input voltage required to drive
the output.
Miscellaneous parameters
Gain Bandwidth Product (GBP)
It equals the op-amp’s unity gain frequency, that indicates the upper
frequency that it can amplify.
A x BW = unity-gain frequency
Miscellaneous parameters
Slew Rate (SR)
The average time rate of change of the closed loop
amplifier output voltage for a step-signal input.
Miscellaneous parameters
Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR)
Measure of the ability of the op-amp to reject signals that are
simultaneously present at both inputs. This is the ratio of differential
voltage amplification to a common mode voltage amplification.

DEFINITION OF 741-PIN FUNCTIONS
PIN CONFIGURATION (Mini-DIP) Common Packages and Typical Pin Outs
Pin 8 NC
Pin 7 +V
Pin 6 Output
Pin 5 Offset Null
Pin 4 -V
Pin 1 Offset Null
Pin 2 Inverting InputPin 3 Non-InvertingInput
Definition of 741-pin Functions: • Pin 1 (Offset Null) : For offset nulling. An offset
null-adjustment potentiometer may be used to compensate for offset voltage.
Definition of 741-pin Functions: • Pin 2 (Inverting Input): All input signals at this
pin will be inverted at output pin 6.
• Pin 3 (Non-Inverting Input): All input signals at this pin will be processed normally without inversion.
Definition of 741-pin Functions: • Pin 4 (-V): The -V pin is the negative supply
voltage terminal.
– -voltage operating range for the 741 is -4.5 volts (minimum) to -18 volts (maximum)
– recommended for stable operation is between -5 and -15 DC voltages
Definition of 741-pin Functions: • Pin 5 (Offset Null): See pin 1
Pin 6 (Output): Output voltage terminal
Definition of 741-pin Functions:
• Pin 7 (+V): The +V pin is the positive supply voltage terminal.
– +voltage operating range for the 741 is +4.5 volts (minimum) to +18 volts (maximum)
– recommended for stable operation is between +5 and +15 DC voltages
Definition of 741-pin Functions:
• Pin 8 (N/C): The 'N/C' stands for 'Not Connected'. There is no other explanation. There is nothing connected to this pin, it is just there to make it a standard 8-pin package.
