As we close another Chorale season it is a little difficult to think of celebration, but celebrate we will. Think about it: ourlives are full of celebrations. During the Christmas season, we celebrated with the major choral work, "A Day for Dancing"by Lloyd Pfautsch. Then, in March we were honored to celebrate our musical talents by performing "Mass in Time ofWar" by Joseph Hadyn with the Federal Way Symphony. As you may recall, a group of Chorale members had plans toperform this masterwork with other community choirs this Spring at Carnegie Hall, but September 11th changed ourplans rapidly as other community choirs cancelled their trips to New York City; making it impossible for the hosts tocontinue supporting this festival. Though chosen over a year ago as the selection to be performed at Carnegie Hall, itbecame a most appropriate choice for us to do with the Federal Way Symphony earlier this year.

Now, once more, our thoughts are on our country and our heroes of both the present and September 11th. Andso, this evening we perform a group of both patriotic and inspirational songs to show our appreciation for bothour country and those who daily put their lives in danger so that we might feel safe, feel free. In a special way, this concert also honors our community's firefighters who do so much for us each and every day. They are truly"Everyday Heroes" and we are proud to give them recognition.

The Federal Way Honor Guard was formed in January 2000. Presently the team consists of 11 members and does variousservices for the community, including flag ceremonies for major events, such as business openings and funerals.

3k~~~;~JThe Federal Way Chorale wishes to provide an opportunity for talented vocalists in Federal Way and surroundingcommunities to learn and perform excitinq choral literature from all ages and styles. We belong to the Chorale becausewe receive much joy from singing. We take great pride in our accomplishments, and so we always strive for excellence.Should you wish to join us please call music director Don Barrows at 253-854-0868 for more information and anappointment to audition. Next open audition is Saturday September 7 at the Federal Way United Methodist Church.
