Ontario Place’s 40th Anniversary event kicks off Thursday July 14 12-night event “brings back the night” at Ontario Place

Toronto, ON – July 12, 2011 – Ontario Place is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and is commemorating the major milestone by “bringing back the night” for Through the Decades, a free evening party that runs from Thursday July 14 to Saturday August 6. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 7 p.m. until midnight, Ontario Place will come alive with the sights and sounds of the last four decades. In addition to free live concerts at Echo Beach, guests of Through the Decades can participate in numerous special events and activities taking place throughout the park. These events include free classic movies under the stars, bands playing homage to their favourite artists at Echo Beach, video dance parties, classic car shows and much more.

• Jimmy Buffett “Parrothead Tailgate Party” on Saturday July 16 at 11 a.m. • George Olliver and Gangbuster perform soul and R&B classics all weekend long • Disco Inferno performs disco hits all weekend long • Play Asteroids, Pong and Space Invaders video games on a 10’ x 12’ screen • Jaws, Superman and Grease to be showcased on an outdoor movie screen

1980s Week – Thursday July 21 to Saturday July 23

• Echo Beach concert with Floyd Factor (Pink Floyd tribute) on Thursday July 21 • Echo Beach concert with Desire (U2 tribute) on Thursday July 22 • Play Pac-Man, Super Mario 1 and Donkey Kong video games on a 10’ x 12’ screen • Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller’s Day to be showcased on an outdoor movie

1990s Week – Thursday July 28 to Saturday July 30

• Echo Beach concert with Desire (U2 tribute) on Friday July 29 • Echo Beach concert with Rearview Mirror (Pearl Jam tribute) on Saturday July 30 • Play Super Mario 3 and Mortal Kombat video games on a giant 10’ x 12’ screen • Titanic, Forrest Gump and The Matrix are the featured outdoor movies

2000s Week – Thursday August 4 to Saturday August 6

• Echo Beach concert with Rearview Mirror (Pearl Jam tribute) on Thursday August 4 • Play Guitar Hero and Wii Sports video games on a 10’ x 12’ screen • Minority Report, Iron Man and The Dark Knight are the featured outdoor movies
