■ Only 34% of parents report that their children arevaccinated for HPV* even although 65% say that theyknow it is important for their children to be fullyvaccinated, according to results of an online surveyconducted from 28 Sep to I Oct, 2011 by theAmerican Osteopathic Association. Of the 1034respondents, 61%, 73% and 84% of parents say thattheir children are vaccinated for meningitis,hepatitis B, and tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis,respectively. This compares with 90%, 88% and 95%of parents, respectively, who think that it is importantto fully vaccinate for these diseases. Health risks andallergies associated with vaccines were the top reasonparents gave for not vaccinating their children.
