Atal Tunnel Rohtang: PM Modi inaugurates world’s longest highway tunnel Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Atal Tunnel in Manali. It is “world’s longest highway” tunnel and is named Atal Tunnel, Rohtang. The 9.02 kilometres long engineering marvel connects Manali in Himachal Pradesh to Lahaul-Spiti throughout the year. The Atal tunnel has huge strategic significance as it will greatly assist in the movement of armed forces. Atal Tunnel or the Rohtang tunnel has been built in the Pir Panjal range of Himalayas. The tunnel is located at an altitude of 10,000 Feet from the Mean Sea Level (MSL). The tunnel is set to reduce road distance by 46 kilometres between Leh and Manali. RTGS to be available 24x7x365 from Dec 2020 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its Statement on Development and Regulatory Policies has announced that the money transfer facility, RTGS, will be available round the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from December 2020. Under the current rules, the transfers can be made between 7 AM and 6 PM on all working days except for the second and fourth Saturday of the month and on Sundays. The announcement comes after the RBI made the NEFT facility available 24X7 from December 16, 2019.

In Madhya Pradesh, Panna Tiger Reserve, which once saw its entire tiger population disappear, has now been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a site that will serve as a lab to test innovative approaches to eco-conservation and sustainability.
