WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!At the May 20th "Coffee with the Pastors," several people decided to become members at Central. They are:• Barr, John David and Jenni [John David works with Citizens National Bank and Jenni is a student at Samford in Birmingham;

John David comes by Transfer of Membership from another UMC and Jenni by Transfer of Membership from anotherdenomination]

• Davidson, Ben and April [Ben works with Mitchell Signs and April with Vital Care; they come by Transfer of Membership fromanother denomination]

• Ethridge, Doug and Mary [Doug works with Bimbo Bakery and Mary is retired; they come to us by Transfer of Membership fromanother UMC]

• Honeycutt, Grant [Grant works for Woodstock Furniture and is the husband of Erin Anderson; Grant comes by Transfer ofMembership from another denomination]

• Weidower, Brandon and Virginia [Brandon is with the Marine Corps at NAS and Virginia is a housewife and soon-to-be Mom!Brandon comes to Central by Profession of Faith and Virginia by Transfer of Membership from another UMC]

ANNUAL CONFERENCE MISSION OFFERING MAY 27th Each year when the Annual Conference is held, churches throughout the state are asked to send a "mission offering" fora special cause. This year's offering will go to fund pensions for pastors with years of service prior to 1982. In 1982changes were made to the pension program, but service years prior to 1982 were not fully funded. We ask you to makea gift on Sunday May 27th for this worthy cause to support pension payments for those pastors who have served Centralfaithfully in the past. If you will not be here that day, you may send or bring a gift by the Central office.

CENTRAL’S CHILDREN CENTER held their end of year program Wednesday night, May 16th in the FellowshipHall. The program, entitled "Dancing Feet," showcased each class dancing and singing joyfully, with four year parentsjoining their children on stage to dance (hilarious!). There were over 200 people in attendance with 24 four year oldsgraduating. It was a night of good food, good fellowship, and good fun for all involved. The Center would like to thank BobRambo, Sabrina Williams, Bob Peden, John Drake, Tyrone Rush, Justin Boston, and Deborah Cross for their participationand help in making this program such a success! And also, thanks to Doug Kennedy for stepping in and helping with thelighting at the last minute.

CREME DE LA CENTRAL!The Lunch Bunch group has decided to make a new Central cookbook! Creme de la Central will be createdby everyone submitting their recipes over the next few months so that we can have the cookbook ready to sellfor Christmas gifts. Make sure your name is attached to the recipe and send your recipe to Sandra Hammonat [email protected]

White Water RaftingThe trip of the summer and everyone is included! The date has been changed to accommodate the opening ceremoniesof the State Games so mark your calendar for the weekend of June 21-24. We will raft two days, stay in cabins on the river,and do several other adventurous things all for $200. (This price can go down based on the number of participants) So save yourspot now with a $50 non- refundable deposit due on or before Friday, June 1st..

Wednesday Youth Programs

Starting Wednesday, June 4 we will be doing something different with our Wednesdays. Youth will notbe meeting at night but will bring a lunch and gather together at noon. There will be icebreaker games, Bible Study and thenwe will go out to do missions through some of our local agencies. First up is the Wesley House. We will go there to workwith their younger children during the month of June.

3 on 3 BasketballThe Central Nation is sponsoring a 3 on 3 basketball league for the months of June and July. It is an opencoed league and anyone can participate regardless of age (though we may have divisions if we see play asbeing too one sided). The cost is $5 per person and there is a 4 person max on the rosters. Games will beplayed on Wednesday nights between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and there will be a devotion delivered duringor in between each game. Participants of the corresponding age will also be encouraged to attend our CollegeBible Study (CBS) after the games. JUST ADD WATERThis summer we are trying to do fewer "pool parties" and make them more event like, but with themes, games, and give-a- ways. We will handle all of this if a few generous people will provide their pools. These are the remaining dates whenwe need someone to host pool parties. This is not to say that prayers will not be lifted up for each and everyperson who has been taken off the list.
