Global Eagle’s Broadband Solution
Global Eagle can provide an “enclosed” wireless IFE system or a fully operational satellite broadband solution. The functional components of the two solutions are illustrated below.
• Hardware LRU’s: a cabin wide IEEE 802.11b/g/n distribution system
• Software license and support: including all software and crew terminal interface
• Airline branded portal and integration
• Program management of the equipment installation
• Obtain all necessary aircraft certifications including STC on behalf of the airline

Built within the portal are several opportunities for advertising
and sponsorship, consistent across multiple devices (tablet,

Per transaction, fixed pricing supported for WiFi. Pricing structures include
pricing by timed duration, length of haul, usage, and device type. Internet
access: user paid, sponsored, or “free.”
UI display details plane’s real time location on a moving map, including speed,
direction, altitude, estimated time of arrival and time remaining. Also includes
connecting gate information / airport maps.
Promote specific products or categories from selected merchants. GEE and the
airline together identify shopping partners that fit passenger demographics.
Revenue is percentage of sales.
Weather info as well as tours, passes, restaurant vouchers, and more available
for purchase. Inventory includes both domestic and international destinations.
Ability to stream live channels to PED. Currently support per transaction, fixed
pricing: “all you can watch” access to both Live TV and TV Video-On-Demand,
as well as free TV via a sponsorship model.
Available on a pay-per-view basis. Movies are purchased separately. Includes
child-friendly content. Provides the ability to stream movies to PED. GEE
maintains a library of movie titles; additional rights may be requested.
Messaging service delivers a low bandwidth option for passengers to use their
device’s existing instant messaging apps at a lower price point than those
requiring full WiFi internet access. Solution functions without passengers
needing to install additional apps onto their PED.
Provision of an inflight music experience through partnerships with key brands
and b2c music providers.
Cached content; diverts attention from more satellite-intensive functions.
Internet access available gate-to-gate.
Linkage to airline back office systems to facilitate payment with stored credit
card data or charging passengers using their frequent flyer miles; and allowing
passengers to accumulate miles when purchasing products and services.
Provides consistent and customizable navigation experience across the entire
portal - UNB can also be displayed on 3rd party http sites for ease of return.
Using industry-leading reporting and telemetry capability, a connectivity engine
will transmit inflight data to GEE’s reporting servers upon landing. Airline
partners can then access this data on demand to understand key business
metrics, including take rate, system health, and more.

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES AND DISH: TV FLIES FREEA partnership with a major U.S.-based airline and a significant player in the cable television
industry has resulted in a uniquely successful collaboration. The deal – since renewed for a
second year – has resulted in significant exposure for both the airline and the sponsor: the
number of visitors to the portal is in the millions, the amount of time spent on the portal
numbers in the millions of minutes, there has been a major uptick in exposure to and sales of
additional features, and the relationship has generated sponsorship revenue, marketing leads,
and sponsorship renewal. Although the specifics of the results are proprietary, the relationship
has proven fruitful and profitable for both parties.
In the first six months of 2014
• Dish Free TV appeared on more than 412,000 flights
• 20 Live TV channels were available, including 5 that launched in 2014: TLC, Animal Planet,
Discovery, CBS and Cartoon Network
Case Studies
GATE TO GATE CONNECTIVITYOn November 20th 2013 Southwest became the first and only airline to allow Gate-to-Gate
(G2G) Connectivity. This unique service was made possible through Global Eagle’s technological
expertise, which enables airlines to send and receive data while parked at the gate - while
competing cell-based services cannot provide the same functionality. Statistics follow.
• G2G connectivity has received very positive media and customer feedback
• A significant increase in WiFi Authentications
• Aircraft WiFi availability increased from ~8 hours to ~14 hours
• Average session length increased from ~80 minutes to ~100 minutes
• 10% of data consumption now occurs on the ground
NORWEGIAN AIRLINESGlobal Eagle partnered with Norwegian, considered one of the world’s fastest growing
airlines, to secure key sponsorships. These relationships were timed to coincide with the
release of our Portal 2.0, a new inflight experience that vastly enhanced the passenger
user interface and added most of the service features listed in the previous page.
• The ability to secure significant new advertising partnerships resulted in revenue
generation through sponsorship of key assets
• Merchandising and promotion of existing capabilities: Promoted a free video on
demand trial through a call to action framework that raised passenger awareness of
favorite television shows viewable on their own electronic devices, free of charge.
The promotion resulted in a 650% increase in viewings.
