MOUNT CARMEL BAPTIST CHURCH CONSECRATION OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

TEACHERS, WORKERS AND STUDENTS

“I became its servant according to God’s commission that was given to me for you,

to make the word of God fully known, the mystery that has been hidden throughout

the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints. To them God chose

to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mys-

tery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:25-27 NRSV

ADDRESS TO THE TEACHERS AND WORKERS: PLEASE STAND MINISTER: Yours is the high privilege of guiding and inspiring men and women, girls and boys into the mystery and way of eternal life. Yours is the sacred calling to teach those entrusted to your care the deepest things of God’s nature and will as revealed in Scripture and the dedication of their hearts to God’s intimate keeping. In this you are co-laborers with Jesus Christ, the great Teacher and belong to the noble succession of loyal and patient souls who have carried the light of the gospel forward from one gen-eration to another. CHARGE TO THE TEACHERS AND WORKERS MINISTER: I charge you to be faithful, earnest and patient, always keeping in mind that the end of Christian education is not merely the imparting of information, but the awakening and inspiring of the souls to seek God. Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and favor with God and humankind. In the same you your pupils will grow in grace as you teach from the Scriptures the truths revealed through the life and ministry of Jesus the Christ. If any of you knows any reason why you should not be teachers in God’s Most Holy Church, I charge you not to take this oath of allegiance, knowing that you are acting under the open eye of heaven and that God sees you. CHARGE TO THE CHURCH MINISTER: These persons present themselves for consecration as teachers in God’s Most Holy Church. If you know a reason why any of these stand-ing should not hold the position of teacher, pray that God will convict them not to take this oath of allegiance.

TEACHERS AND WORKERS OATH OF ALLEGIANCE: PLEASE

READ IN UNISON

I stand before God and the members of this congregation, promising to

serve as a teacher and worker in God’s Most Holy Church. With God as my

teacher and guide, I will faithfully perform the known duties and responsi-

bilities assigned to me as a teacher and a worker. I will strive to be diligent

in personal study and class preparation. I will maintain a sympathetic and

friendly relationship with the pupils. I will take advantage of the learning

opportunities offered by this church to develop my skills as a teacher and

worker. I will be regular and punctual in church attendance; I will be whole

-hearted in giving of my time, talent and finances. All this I will do seeking

to be a light and example of the character of Jesus Christ.

MINISTERS TO TEACHERS AND WORKERS: You have given this

oath of allegiance before God and this church. Do you commit yourself to

it? If so, answer: “I do.”

CHURCH TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: PLEASE STAND

MINISTER: Recognizing that the primary responsibility for the Christian

upbringing of your children rests with you, I charge you now to join these

teachers and workers by consecrating yourselves to this task of faithful

stewardship of their Christian education.

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS OATH OF ALLEGIANCE: PLEASE

READ IN UNISON

These teachers and workers have promised to each and to guide us, our

children and young people in the Christian way of life. However, their best

efforts will fail unless they are supported by our wholehearted and con-

sistent cooperation. We as parents and guardians promise to support the

teachers and workers, to create in our homes an atmosphere that encour-

ages the impulses toward Christian character received in the church school

and the Christian Education program of the church.

MINISTER TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: You have made this

oath of allegiance before God and His church. Do you now commit your-

selves to it? If so, answer: “We do.”

OATH OF ALLEGIANCE OF THE STUDENTS: PLEASE READ IN

UNISON

We have witnessed the oaths of allegiance made by our teachers, workers,

parents and guardians on our behalf this day. We now promise to show our

appreciation of their efforts by determining to do our part: To be regular in

our attendance, attentive in interest, diligent in study, true to the ideals of

the church’s Christian Education program and loyal to our LORD Jesus

Christ, whom it serves.

MINISTER TO STUDENTS: You have given this oath of allegiance be-

fore God and His church. Do you now commit yourselves to it? If so, an-

swer, “We do.”

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION: ALL STAND

MINISTER: Eternal God our Father and Mother, who calls into service

and who gives grace and strength to fulfill that calling: Look with favor up-

on these who now dedicate themselves to serve in this church. Consecrate

them to the ministry of teaching; give them wisdom and ability to discern

the dormant talents and veiled possibilities, in those when they teach. Em-

power them with the Spirit of Encouragement to ignite the potential in each

student. Bless the parents and guardians; lead them in the path of Christ, so

they will demonstrate in their lives and in their homes an influence, which

will strengthen them and their children to stand firm under the pressures of

life, to chine in Christ-like purity and beauty of character. Bless the stu-

dents with the spirit of appreciation for the sacrifices made on their behalf.

Give all who stand before you this day, the Holy Spirit of Understanding and

Willingness to build a world in which the kingdom of God reigns in peace,

power and justice; in the name of our Lord and Master, Jesus the Christ.

Amen

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Pastor Moore, Officers and Members of Mount Carmel Baptist Church,

O Lord my lord how excellent in the name in all the earth…Psalm 8 :1

I would like to thank each of you for all that you did during the pass-

ing of my beloved daughter, Jacquelyn D. Poole. What would I have

done without you? Your prayers, card, visits and all acts of kindness-

es helped to make this loss more bearable.

Jacquelyn was a very caring, kind and thoughtful person. It was

very comforting to know how many lives she touched and that you

all share in my loss. May the memories you have of her serve as

comfort to you as well.

Please keep our family in your prayers as we continue to deal with

this time in our lives.

Katheryn Poole Smith & Family

Rev. Dr. Donald D. Moore,

I would like to take this time on behalf of the residents and Activity

Department for the lovely shawls and afghans that were made for

the residents. They really enjoyed them and some had memories of

when they use to make them. Please extend our thank you to the

Knit-Witness Ministry. Again, thank you for taking the time to think

of our residents this holiday season. God bless you and have a safe

and wonderful new year.
