REVEAL THE UNIQUENESS OF YOUR TUMOUR : towards a personalized treatment

4 OncoSHARE enables easy consultation of test results, treatment guidance and clinical trial availability as well as sharing these with expert oncologists.

I have to send my samples to Belgium : Is this where my sample is processed with OncoDEEP® ?

The OncoDEEP test will be done by the Institute of Pathology and Genetics (IPG) in Gosselies, Belgium. IPG is one of the 8 Belgian Official Genetic Centres regulated by a law passed in 1987. OncoDEEP is ISO15189 accredited by BELAC, the Belgian authorities’ accreditation body.

How long will it take for me to get my results ?

Once everything (sample, medical information and payment) has been received at OncoDNA, the standard delivery time is 5 to 10 working days, depending on the level of the service requested. The results will go to your oncologist’s OncoSHARE interface as soon as they’re generated at OncoDNA. The final report always arrives within 10 days, even for the most comprehensive OncoDEEP.

How much do I pay for OncoDEEP® ?

OncoDEEP® for patients

Reveal the uniqueness of your tumour : move towards personalized treatment …We hope you’ll find everything you’ve always wanted to know about OncoDEEP in this document. Obviously your oncologist will also be able to answer your questions and, once you’ll have received your Information Kit, he or she will be the one responsible for ordering the analysis.

What is OncoDEEP® ?

OncoDEEP is a state-of-the-art tool to help your oncologist make the best choice from several approved therapies or find therapies under development which could treat the characteristics specific to your disease. Scientific breakthroughs in the study of cancer development have shown that no two patients are alike, no two cancer tumours are the same. Recent technological discoveries allow better characterization of patient tumours. Today’s Cancer Scene Investigators don’t have to rely on only a vague identikit : OncoDEEP generates a complete molecular fingerprint which includes genetic information and information on proteins. Your cancer cells have distinct abnormalities, also called biomarkers, which can make the disease unique to you. OncoDEEP questions these biomarkers (variants in your genome and the proteins expressed by your tumour) and integrates them using our proprietary Knowledge Database OncoDNA (OncoKDO) to help your physician with treatment choice. OncoKDO assembles the latest publications from medical literature to fully describe and document DNA variants and protein expression results, integrate them into intelligible conclusions for your oncologist and give advice on treatment regimens based on the latest scientific discoveries.

Will OncoDEEP® be beneficial for me ?

Cancer is a complex multigenic disease and it has become a model for the use of biomarkers in drug prescription. Biomarkers have enabled the concept of personalized medicine in the daily practice of oncologists. Based on the analysis of biomarkers, OncoDEEP is the perfect tool to help your physician choose the best drug to fight your specific cancer. And, as OncoDEEP generates a comprehensive and highly detailed molecular fingerprint of your tumour, it’s the best way for your physician to get the deepest characterization of it and hence help him or her to choose the best treatment regimen. Your oncologist will hold all the cards to consider not only the best approved treatments but also promising treatments which are still under development, which have been specifically designed to treat tumours harbouring the same biomarkers as yours.

OncoDEEP has been designed to be used on any solid tumour cancer, e.g. lung, breast, colorectal, stomach and liver cancers. You could benefit from OncoDEEP, no matter which treatment you’re already taking, or if you’ve already received a drug prescription. While OncoDEEP is commonly used by patients who’ve already been unsuccessfully treated by standard of care, or patients who are facing very aggressive cancer forms or cancer with metastases, we’ve noticed that more and more oncologists and/or patients are requesting this test very early in the development of the disease. OncoDEEP not only identifies candidate molecules which could be used for treatment but also finds out which drugs wouldn’t be active against your tumour and, even more interestingly, drugs which could turn out to be toxic and whose benefit cost ratio would be really unfavourable. Remember that any decision on your treatment should be based on the expert judgement of your oncologist. The purpose of OncoDEEP is to give the most valuable information about your tumour, helping him or her in this decision.

What are the technical processes behind OncoDEEP® ?

OncoDNA has set up state-of the-art technologies to study your tumour and the technical processes behind OncoDEEP questions two major components of a cancer cell. First, OncoDEEP analyses the cell DNA, its genetic information, which in cancer is often modified and can trigger or aggravate the disease. The major technology we use to study DNA is Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) which enables the reading of the genetic information of genes involved in cancer development and search for variations. But, as NGS can’t answer all DNA related questions and we want OncoDEEP to be exhaustive, we’ve put in place other special tests like fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), PCR, methylation analysis, … OncoDEEP is really comprehensive !And not only for DNA. The second cancer cell component analysed by OncoDEEP is protein. OncoDEEP analyses the presence and quantity of these cell effectors using immunohistochemistry (IHC), and also their activation levels by looking at the phosphorylation status of some of them. It’s this unique combination of genetic information and information on proteins which makes OncoDEEP most valuable.

What is OncoSHARE® ?

The results generated by OncoDEEP are available to your oncologist through a web interface called OncoSHARE. It gives him or her the opportunity to share the results with you, to present and explain them to you. Your oncologist will also be able to share the results with your general practitioner, with a colleague or even with an expert in the field of your specific cancer. Through this interface, you’ll also be able to discuss with other patients suffering from the same disease as you and share experiences, both good and bad.
