Once upon a time there was an old woman who dreamt of having a baby. She visited a wizard and got a magic seed.

The woman planted the seed and watered it everyday.

Soon the seed sprouted

It grew into a beautiful flower.

The flower bloomed and inside was a tiny beautiful girl. The woman was surprised and

happy. She named the girl Thumbelina.

One night, a toad snuck in the house and kidnapped Thumbelina.

He brought her to the pond and kept her there. He put her on a lily pad. Thumbelina

was very scared.

The toad left to bring his friends to see his new bride and Thumbelina started to cry.

Soon a fish came to help her.

The fish chewed the stem of the lily pad and Thumbelina floated away. She was free.

Soon the water became rough. Thumbelina was very scared. She was nearing a waterfall

A beetle grabbed Thumbelina just before she went over a waterfall. She was rescued

again.

The beetle brought Thumbelina to show his friends. The other beetles only laughed at

her. They thought she was ugly, not pretty like a beetle.

The beetle abandoned Thumbelina in the forest.

Scared and lost Thumbelina wandered through the forest trying to find her home.

Soon Thumbelina found a mouse house. Mrs. Mouse felt sorry for the lost girl and

invited her in the house.

Mrs. Mouse took care of Thumbelina like a mother would.

One day, Mr. Mole came to visit Mrs. Mouse. He fell in love with Thumbelina and

wanted to marry her. He offered lots of food for her and Mrs. Mouse agreed.

Thumbelina did not want to marry Mr. Mole. Mrs. Mouse tried to soothe her and told

her it was for the best. Mr. Mole was rich and would give her many good things

The next morning, Thumbelina wandered through the forest and met an injured bird.

Thumbelina fixed the bird's leg.

The bird said "You look sad, my dear. What is wrong"? Thumbelina explained about Mr.

Mole. The bird said "Get on my back. I will help you"

They flew high over the countryside.

The bird brought Thumbelina to Flower Land.

She loved it there and soon the prince of Flower Land found Thumbelina

They were married and lived happily ever after.
