Once upon a time, in a faraway forest,there lived a poor woodcutter, his wifeand their twochildren.

The boy’s name was Hansel and the Girl’s name was Gretel.

The woodcutter was so poor that the family had very little food.

One night, the woodcutter’s wife said, “We cannot take care of the children and you must take them to the middle of the forest and leave them there.

The two children heard their parents and they were very scared. So, the clever children came up with a plan to save themselves. That night, they were so scared that they quietly filled their pockets with tiny pebbles.

The next morning, the woodcutter took them to the middle of the forest, but Hansel and Gretel dropped the pebbles all along the way.When their father left them, they followed the line of pebbles and they found their house. The woodcutter was happy to see the children but they were very poor. They were so poor that they decided to take them to the middle of the forest again.

They dropped bread crumps this time, but the animals and birds had eaten all the crumps. Now, Hansel and Gretel walked and walked but they couldn’t find their home. Suddenly, they saw a very strange house. The house was so strange that they were surprised to see it, because it was made of candy, chocolate and everything delicious.

And, the children were very hungry. They were so hungry that they started to gobbling up the house. But, this house actually belonged to an old witch. She loved to eat little children. While Hansel and Gretel were eating her yummy door, the witch opened the door.

Hansel and Gretel were very frightened. They were so frightened that they could not move. The witch locked them inside. And she locked Hansel in a cage. She turned to Gretel and said “ Help me light the oven! When it is hot, I will cook your brother and eat him.”

Poor Gretel was very afraid! She was so afraid that she quickly thought a plan to save her brother.When the witch check if the oven was hot, she gave her a big push from behind.The witch fell into the oven with a scream and Gretel quickly locked the oven door.

Gretel rescued Hansel and the two children filled their pockets with all the witch’s jewels. Finally, they managed to find their way back home and gave all the jewels to their mother and father. They were very rich now. They were so rich that the woodcutter and his family were never hungry again!
