Ever wondered where the expression “once in a blue moon” comes from? A blue moon happens when there is a second full moon within a calendar month, and this rare event is next happening on July 31st 2015. So come and join us on the night of the full moon to climb the highest peak of the Brecon Beacons, to experience the beauty of the sunset and the rise of the moon.
Start at Pont ar daf car park (Grid ref 988199, postcode LD3 8NL) on A470 between Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil, from 8.30pm
> Begin ascent of Pen y fan between 9pm and 9.30pm> Route will be marked and manned by Brecon
Mountain Rescue> Families welcome; under 16’s must be accompanied
by responsible adult, and parental consent must be given (see below)
> “Once in a blue moon” certificate issued at end of walk, and refreshments provided
> Entry fee £15 per person; free for under 12’s. Participants are also asked to give a further donation or to gain sponsorship to support the vital work of St David’s Hospice Care in the local community
> Sponsorship forms and kit list will be issued following registration
