Why Pilots?

• Testing is essential for developers and users

• Providers have understandable reasons not to do them

Who

Find a Partner: Pair up with Host or Innovator

Submit Joint Proposal: Submit a pilot proposal as a pair

Domains

• Clinical environments: such as hospitals, ambulatory care, surgical centers

• Public health and community environments: such as community health clinics, public health departments, mobile medical trucks, and school-based clinics

• Direct-to-consumer: such as pharmacies and laboratories

• Research and data that, for example, provide novel ways of collecting data from patients

Deliverable

• Contributes to the public knowledge base

• For example: white paper, journal article

• Contributes to the public technical resource base

• For example: API, open source tool, open data set

Challenge Goals

• Encourage early collaboration between medical and public health personnel, entrepreneurs, developers, and patients in order to link innovation in health IT to innovation in care delivery

• De-risk innovative digital health products for future clinical testing and investment

• Encourage uptake of ONC standards and technologies

Find a Partner

• We will be hosting three matchmaking sessions around the country to facilitate the pairings between Hosts and Innovators.

• Participation not required in order to submit a proposal

• Sessions held in Washington, D.C., New York and San Francisco • Session dates posted on oncpilotchallenge.com/events

• Innovators selected by hosts to attend

• Interested Innovators and Hosts to complete the Find a Partner form here: http://bit.ly/ONC_Partner

Submit Joint Proposal

• Host and Innovators will apply as a pair by submitting a joint pilot proposal • Applications without a Host or Innovator co-applicant will not

be accepted • Proposals should include:

• Description of pilot • Budget • Information about the Host & Innovator • Description and demo video of Innovator’s technology • Letters of Intent from the Host & Innovator

• An expert review panel will evaluate proposals and select up to 6 winning proposals

Review Criteria

• Pilot proposal and design

• Pilot budget and scale

• Potential for health impact

• Relevance to ONC priorities

• Potential of Innovator’s product

• Team experience and strength of match

• Proposed public deliverable

Prizes

Up to $300,000 in total awards

• Up to six Host/Innovator teams will each win $50,000 prizes

• 50% to be disbursed following award, 50% to be disbursed upon completion of pilot

Winners will also receive

• Pilot planning & implementation support from Program organizers

• Opportunity to demo their projects at a major health event or conference
