Galaxians in Japan

Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2015 invited 12 students of Galaxy Public School to participate in their program which was held from 30 th July to7th August, 2015. This event is one of the largest art festivals in the world and is held once every three years in the Echigo-Tsumari region since 2000. The Triennale provides an opportunity to present projects and initiatives developed in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field.  The students who participated in the art festival were namely, Jagrit Prashad Upadhyay Dahal (9G2), Shrikhanda Shrestha (9G5), Simran Pahari (9G4), Sabik Nath Shrestha (9G3), Garima Shrestha (9G3), Sanskriti Pandey (8G1), Ang Phuri Sherpa (8G5), Krisha Siwakoti (8G4), Pratistha Niroula (7G3), Shreela Gurung (7G1), Soni Khadka(7G3), Pancham Rana (4G1). They were accompanied by Ms. Surina Sunayani Gurung, the Vice Principal and Mr. Chani Kumar Rai, the Dance Instructor.Ms. Miwako Kawabata and Michiko Tochiyama received us at the Narita airport. Ms. Kawabata had taught Japanese songs to our students in Nepal and had made all arrangements for our visit to Japan. It was exciting to board Sinkansen (Japanese Bullet Train) from the main city to Niigata.

On 31st July, 2015, our students were warmly welcomed at Matsudai Train Station, Niigata Prefecture by the students of Matsudai School. Students were lodged in a residential area which was spick and span. The geographical features of Niigata are similar to that of Nepal. The place has small green hills and has a very humid climate. On 1 st August, our students performed for the local people of Matsudai, Tokamachi. They presented traditional dances such as, Chhalia, Adhunik and Maghauta. Students also sang “Furusato” which is a Japanese national song. The local people were very impressed by the performance of our students because of their ability to sing at par with Matsudai students.

2nd August was an important day since our students performed in front of an audience consisting of people from around the world:artists, art critics, social media personnel, foreigners, and important members of the community group of Niigata including the organizers. Students performed Tamangselo, Sebru and Manjushree dance forms as well as another Japanese song, ‘Sora Takaku’. We represented Nepal that day in front of the rest of the world. After the show people applauded us for our commendable performance.

On 3rd August, we met students from Okinawa and Niigata. All the students shared information about the geographical features, the significance and the heritage of their country. The important topic of conversation was the earthquake which struck Nepal on April 25, 2015. At the end of the meeting, we played Nepali musical instruments like the Madal and the Flute. We sang various Nepali songs including our national anthem. After having lunch, we went down to the Matsudai railway station where students of Okinawa and Niigata bade farewell to the Nepali guests. We went to the west side of Tokyo and stayed at Chiyoda Hotel.

Yet another exciting day awaited us as we were invited by the Earthquake Research Institute, Japan. Dr. Hiroshi Sato, Professor at the University of Tokyo made a presentation on the geographical resemblance between Japanese and Nepalese earthquakes. He gave us the reasons for the high death toll in Nepal in the recent earthquake. Our students also observed the earthquake proof buildings at the Earthquake Research Institute and learned how the seismograph worked. Then we visited the Ueno Park. After lunch, we went to Odaiba, a large artificial man-made island.

On the last day of the trip, we visited Mount Takao, which is a mountain in the city of Hachiōji, Tokyo, Japan. It is protected within Meiji no Mori Takao Quasi-National Park. We boarded a funicular to reach the top where we visited a famous temple called Takaosan Yakuoin Temple. We watched Buddhist monks light fireworks and worship Lord Buddha. From the hill top we viewed Hajihoji and Tokomachi area but unfortunately we could not see Mount Fuji as the visibility was poor. Then all the students enjoyed riding a chair lift down to the base.

The next day we were excited again to go back home and meet our family. Miwako San and Michiko San bade us farewell at Narita Airport. Our students learned many things from the trip: they learnt about the geography, the climate, the culture, the heritage, the food, the language, the etiquette of the people of Japan. The most significant thing that students observed was that every place in Japan was clean and tidy. We got an insight into heart of Japan. Surina S. Gurung

POEM5G1 - Samridhika Dahal

My GrandmotherMy grandmother is the one,Who loves me a lot,Without her, my life would be dark and dull,And my door of success would completely shut. She has got silver shiny hair,Her wrinkled skin looks quite fair,She has a stick in her hand,It seems to me like a magic wand. Her kind voice calls me every day,I respond to it in such a way,That she finds me the most respectful,And makes her disturbed mind very cool. She has got a magic power in her,To which I'm always looking for,She is my grandma, everyone knowsA role of God in my life she shows.

6G1 - Samriddhi UpadhyayGods Creation

God is the one, who created the earth,He is the one who gave us all birth,The ponds, the lakes and the treesThe evening, in which blows the breezeThe evening, the night and the dayAnd months like, March, April and MayHe made the days, the years and weeksAnd also the small hills and peaksThe mother, the wonderful motherAnd lovely father and brotherI wish I could be like youI could paint the whole world blueThank you for the sun and the moonYour fairies' are a wonderful boon

7G1 - Kaustuv PokharelDarkness

I have a little fear which goes in and out of me.And what can be the use of him is more than I can see! When the lights are off, I see darkness around me.And my fear again starts troubling me.

When the sun comes out I am happy and joyfulAnd when the nights are on, fear haunts my mind.I am scared of darkness you knowFor there is nothing like darkness, you can see for yourself.

I can't sleep in darkness!I can't sleep alone!Tumulutous thoughts haunt my mind. For there is nothing like darkness.

I wish there were no nights and only daysFor there would have been no use of light and only rays.Joy Sadness, disgust and anger - I don't care about them! But when darkness comes, I do care!

I am so afraid that I sometimes wet my pants!I wish I had Bruce Lee in my hatsDon't kill the lights! Don't kill the lights!Because I am afraid of darkness.

9G1 - Pawana ShresthaForgiveness

You say that your friend lost your pencil,How could you forget that little John painted the entire hall? You say you won't talk to him again.Don't forget you forgave John,And now, its time to open your heart

10G1 - Yogendra Singh BasnetIf

And fly like a bird.I want to visit the heaven,And meet the Almighty God.

I want to sing loud and clear,That I am a free and happy girl. With no limits to bound,And want to travel the whole world round.

I want to dance freely,And float just like water lily.I want to sing and dance,Because there's no second chance.

again.

You see the naughty boy poured the coffee in your clothes. You still know you forgave him remembering the famous quotes. That forgiving takes nothing but a kind heart. And saves a relation from falling apart.Forgiving can heal the pain within you.Or else your heart would feel as cold as dew.

You know the power of forgiveness,You know how it works in each and every place,Cause you know the warm feeling of it,Will always strike you the other time we meet

and there would be no fear.

If there was unitybetween every person in the worldthen there would be no fightand there would not be rivers of blood.

If there was complete peaceall over the worldthen there would be no discriminationbetween any two persons.

If only people knewthe importance of lifethen everyone would livein complete peace and harmony.

ARTICLE4G1 - Bipasana Shrestha

5G1 - Ayesha UpretiMy Favourite Cartoon CharacterMy favourite cartoon character is

Doraemon. It is a Japanese robot character of the 21st century. It is a Japanese character but it also speaks in many other languages like Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, Indonesian, etc. Mostly it comes in Hindi because India had bought Doraemon from Japan.

Doraemon is blue in colour. Doraemon's faced expressions are so amazing. If a crying man will see Doraemon, that person will start laughing. It is so funny. It has a big four dimensional pocket from which he takes out many surprising gadgets and helps Nobita. The friends of Doraemon are Geyan, Suneyo, Sizuka, Nobita, Dekisuki, Dorami, Saibasi, etc. Dorami is small sister of Doraemon. She is also a robot. She also has the same pocket as Doraemon. In every part, Nobita makes mistakes and always gets scolding from his parents. Then he requests Doraemon to give him some gadgets and helps him. They go for very interesting adventures. Nobita always gets zero in his tests and Dekisuki always gets hundred.

Everybody has their own choice. But my choice is always Doraemon. I think I will never forget Doraemon even after I grow up. I wish it will continue for 3 or 4 more years.

6G1 - Prayusha PudasainiImportance of computer

Life on earth has completely changed in these few years. The early humans were uneducated and they didn't know about science. But nowadays science is a part of our life. Scientists have invented many useful machines such as computer, television, refrigerator etc. One of the most important gadget is computer.

Computer is an electronic device designed to make our work easier and faster through different softwares. It is an assembly of monitor, CPU, mouse and keyboard. Computer has become a part of our life. It has made our life better by allowing us to type, make movies, do our office work and the most important is internet by which we get information on any subject. Computer is a lot quicker than humans.

There are also disadvantages of using computers like it affects our eyes and sitting in front of computer for a long time makes us dull and unhealthy. But if we use computer in a proper way it is very useful.

Nowadays we are fully dependent on computer for everything. It is used in educational fields such as school, colleges and also offices, banks, hospital etc. Now we know the importance of computer and we should use it in a proper way so that it does not harm anyone in the world.

7G1 - Sarasij Bhadra KarnaLET US SAVE OUR EARTH

Earth is a unique planet. It is the only planet known to support life. Earth is a fragile planet.

We human beings think we are the supreme species, we have been destroying nature. We have been causing pollution and destroying our home planet. Pollution is the damage of environment, land, water, air by human activities. Pollution may be classified as, air pollution, water pollution, land pollution and noise pollution.

These factors have been causing serious climate changes and have also been leading to disasters such as global warming, melting of glaciers, floods, droughts, ozone depletion etc.

But now many organizations have taken steps to improve the environment such as to stop using CFCs which cause ozone depletion. People have also taken steps towards making the environment clean. Let us also not throw wastes everywhere but in dustbins and save our Earth.

8G1 - Ashim Niraula Friends are forever

We live in a unique planet called earth. Many persons are born and they die. Some may be good and some may be bad. But for common people everyone is one, so keeping this in mind, God created friends. Friends are our third supporter after parents and teachers. Friends have made this world a better place to live in. A person needs a friend not only for his help but also for company.

Our life is full of happiness and sorrows. To heal the sorrows of life, we need a person capable of doing so and that is a friend. Friendship is a boon from God to people living on Earth. Friendship not only helps us to make a good relationship but it helps us to bring peace and harmony throughout the life. This unique life is incomplete without friends. Choosing a good friend is the first step to enjoy the boon given by our beloved God.

Friendship can last longer if a person feels the happiness and sorrows of his friend. Friends are our healer for sorrows and fun for happiness.

9G1 - Monisha Choudhary"Inhuman Activity Towards Our Environment"

Environment basically refers to the surroundings that involve the inter-relationship of the living and the non-living. Humans need a suitable environment for peaceful and sustainable survival. The environment that humans live in, must be fit to live in and it is completely upto them, whether to benefit themselves and their environment or to destroy both. With every passing decade, the extent of damage to the environment for the sake of development has been increasing.Environmental issues, such as health problems caused due to unhealthy environment are becoming abundant with every passing day. The irreparable damage being caused are the consequences of the unsustainable development, that humans take pride in and carry on thoughtlessly. Either way, humans are the ones to suffer. New viruses, such as Ebola appear due to the unsuitable environmental conditions. However, the research centers are trying to find out cures for new diseases. Each human that inhales the air present on earth is affected by one virus or the other according to a European survey. People need to be conscious of their actions and programmes. Building a mall where there once was a forest may seem quite a good scheme to invest in. But what will happen when the chemicals mix with the it, that is necessary to grow beautiful natural plants? The soil will become poisonous and flow into the river nearby and then, reach homes and people get sick.Every legal development scheme must be tested for the after effects. Also, such inhuman activities are being carried out daily due to poverty, illiteracy and unawareness. We have been polluting the water sources with our expensive junks, that could save the life of a thirsty deer. We've been clearing forests and cultivated lands to create concretes. We've been inviting unacceptable consequences for ourselves, unaware of our own doing. It's late but not too late. Until humans don't stop such activities, the environment won't get hold of problems and in the end, every human will suffer.

10G3 - Tanuja Khatri Education - A Solution to all Social Evils

Education is very important in a human's life. A person cannot do anything without education. It is also a solution to all social evils. Mainly for the citizens of countries like Nepal which is rich in different old traditions and social beliefs which are now changing into social evils.

Many social evils, such as giving or taking dowry, discrimination between male and female, etc. are taking place in our country. But only those who are educated and concerned about their rights can face this problem. Many people in rural areas and villages are not given the opportunity to study by means of which these evils are created.

Educated people go against it but uneducated people are forced to support these evils. So, education is the solution to these evils.

When people are educated they can think and fight for their rights. This will lead to the end of social evils. Education and awareness can make a society free of all social evils.

Therefore, to create awareness among all people, schools and colleges should be established. Programmes should be organized. All people should be informed about social evils and solution of ending it.

In this generation, education can solve all problems and educated people can have a happy life. So, education can be considered as the solution to all social evils. It can really bring a change in society ending all the social evils.

was heard and everybody ran to see what was wrong.

He taught Chris many things related to science and technology. He explained to him how the telephone and television worked, how the bulb used to get electricity, etc. Chris was very amazed when he came to learn about so many things of technology. Then the professor also told him about one service they had on their television with SBUS brand. There were no schools and hospitals, people used to discriminate between the poor and the rich. Because of all this, the village was not yet developed. Hari Bahadur had a daughter. He used to avoid Hari Bahadur.

One day, Hari Bahadur was sitting in his house thinking how to build a school in the village as he was very worried about his daughter's education. He thought of doing this work alone, without anybody's help. After somedays he started bringing brick and all the things that were required for building a school. He called some people and started to build the school by himself. He worked day and night for this construction. The people living in that village were shocked seeing Hari Bahadur working like that. Seeing Hari Bahadur so dedicated to his work, the people also started to help him. Hari Bahadur was very happy. And finally after some days a small school was built. PROBLEM OF FOUL LANGUAGESome parents and students have been complaining that there are students who use foul language. We highly discourage use of foul language in school.Inspite of our sincere effort, we are still getting such complain. While trying to solve this problem we found that:

1. Society can be classified into three sections.2. The three sections of society are: High society, Middle society, Low society3.a. Poverty prevails primarily in low society.b. People of low society which lack education and grooming, tend to use foul language.

Hence the children also use foul language. They learn to use foul language from other members of their society.4. Children use foul language because of the following reasons:

a. Family members use this kind of language.b. Parents are not educated or cultured.c. Family is very poor.d. Children have lost their parents.

5. Children who use foul language should be advised toa. Work hard in order to get good jobs in futureb. Improve their self-esteemc. Inculcate good habitsOur parents are from good society. They are well educated and cultured. Students may be learning such foul language from their friend circle. The parents are requested to check their wards' circle and control them.

TIPS FOR BETTER LEARNING1. Be attentive in class2. Revise all the chapters taught3. Practice through writing4. Read story books to express your view5. Speak English to improve your language6. Improve your handwriting7. Improve your work presentation8. Take homework and classwork seriously9. Develop a habit of learning answers, spelling, formulas, tables, meanings, etc.10. Read loudly

MITOSIS & MEIOSIS CELL DIVISION

MITOSIS AND MEIOSIS

MitosisYour body contains trillions of cells (thousands of millions). But you started life as a single cell - a fertilised egg cell. This cell then divided and divided to make more cells through a process called mitosis.

MeiosisThe cells in our bodies contain 23 pairs of chromosomes - giving us 46 chromosomes in total. Sperm cells and egg cells contain 23 single chromosomes, half the normal number, and are made by a special form of cell division called meiosis.
