AN ORDINANCE relating to the Traffic Code by the addition or
removal of streets on the Arterial Street Map, as autho-rized by Section 11.18.010 of the Seattle Municipal Code
(Section 2 of ordinance 108200 as amended by Ordinance111963).
WHEREAS, Ordinance 111963 authorized the City Council to add or
remove streets on the Arterial Street Map by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, The City of Seattle and the Port of Seattle are to
exchange property which affects the classification of a
roadway; and
WHEREAS, the classification change necessitates the addition and
removal of streets on the Arterial Street Map; Now, There-
fore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The following streets are hereby removed from
the Arterial Street Map:
- 26th Avenue Southwest between West Marginal Way Southwest
and Southwest Florida Street.
- Southwest Florida Street from. West Marginal Way Southwest
to 26th Avenue Southwest.
Section 2. The following street is hereby added to the
Arterial Street Map:
- West Marginal Way Southwest from 26th Avenue Southwest to
Southwest Florida Street.
Section 3. Any act consisten-IC with the authority and prior
to the effective date of this ordinance is hereby ratified and
confirmed.

SUBJECT: An ordinance relating to the Traffic Code by the addition or

by Section 11.18.010 of the Seattle Municipal Code (Section 2
of Ordinance 108200 as amended by Ordinance 111963).
Pursuant to the City Council's S.O.P. 100-014, the Executive Department is for-

Subject: 26th Avenue Southwest andWest Marginal Way SouthwestStreet Classification
REQUEST. We request City Council adoption of the attachedresolution and two (2) ordinances which each relate to26th Avenue Southwest and West Marginal Way SouthwestStreet Classification.
BACKGROUND. The City of Seattle and the Port of Seattle areexchanging property which involves 26th Avenue South-west from West Marginal Way Southwest to SouthwestFlorida Street. Legislation is now pending for this
exchange of property by a vacation ordinance.
The Port of Seattle has received a street use permit touse both the street and the right of way for 26thAvenue Southwest. The Port has built a new roadwayseveral hundred feet west of 26th Avenue Southwest. in
the exchange The City of Seattle will receive the newlyconstructed roadway and the Port of Seattle will begiven the City's existing (old) roadway.
The exchange of property necessitates revisions to the:
- Seattle Comprehensive Transportation Program StreetClassification Maps;
- The Traffic Code Arterial Street Map; and
The Arterial Classification Maps which will besubmitted to the Urban Arterial Board.

The attached legislation provides for these changes andauthorizes submission to the Urban Arterial Board. Thechanges are as follows:
- Removal of the portion of 26th Avenue Southwest tobe vacated from the arterial system.
- Addition of the new roadway to the arterial systemas a minor arterial. (Tentatively called WestMarginal Way Southwest.)
- Removal from the arterial system of a portion ofSouthwest Florida Street between the new roadwayand old 26th Avenue Southwest.
This legislation does not require additional funding.
IMPORTANCE. The attached legislation is coordinated withthe vacation ordinance for the exchange of propertybetween The City of Seattle and the Port of Seattle. A"ratify and confirm prior acts" clause is included toallow the necessary revisions and submittal to theUrban Arterial Board as soon as possible.
