    CHANGING YOUR DISTANCE

    If you wish to change your distance, please email [email protected] by 5:00pm Thursday 24th August with your name, date of birth and distance you wish to change to. Alternatively, you can change your distance on the morning of the event at the Entries Marquee

    EVENT DAY FAMILIARISATION

    On Saturday, 26th August there will be a 30 minute ‘Event Day Familiarisation Session.’ This is a great opportunity to get to know the course and to recieve some great tips for Race Day.

    This will take place at Green Point Reserve, Brighton from 3pm.

    LATE ENTRIES:

    • Enter online at www.solemotive.com (online entries close at midnight Thursday 24th August).

    • Enter at Green Point, Brighton on event day from 5.45am or on Saturday 26th August between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

    EVENT VILLAGE

    The event starts at Green Point, Brighton and takes you along Beach Road down to Sandringham to return home to the finish line in a flash. Glory awaits you at the finish line with your #SMwinterwarrior medal and tasty treats thanks to our event day partners.

    RACE PACKS

    You will need to pick up your Race Pack at one of the following times / locations:

    SOLE MOTIVE: Race Pack pick up is available from the Sole Motive store (170 Queen St, Melbourne) from 10:00am, Thursday 17 August - Midday on Friday 25th August 2017. (This option only applies to those that entered the event before 9:00am, Wednesday 16th August 2017).

    EVENT VILLAGE: Race Pack pick up is available at Green Point, Brighton from the RACE PACK COLLECTION marquee on

    • Saturday 26th August between 2:00pm - 5:00pm or

    • Sunday 27th August (race day) from 6:00am.

  • GETTING THERE

    CAR PARKING

    Parking is available in side streets off Beach Road and in the Green Point Car Park. Beach Road will be closed to all traffic (vehicles and cyclists) between the following times 6:00am - 11:00am.

    Please allow plenty of time to park, and walk to t he event site at Green Point, Brighton. Please park legally, and be aware of parking restrictions in the area. Please carpool, where possible.

    BIKE PARKING Bike parking will be available at the event site. It’s a great way to warm up! Please bring your own lock.

    PUBLIC TRANSPORT The nearest train station to the event site is Brighton Beach (on the Sandringham line) and is just a short 3 minute walk to the event site.

    Please note that trains from the City run every hour until 7.30am, then every 40 mins after that. Trains from Sandringham run every hour until 7.00am, then every 30 mins after that. Please refer to the Public Transport Victoria website for further details: www.ptv.vic.gov.au

    BAG & CLOTHING STORAGE

    Free clothing storage is available during the run/ walk. Your race

    number features a tear-off strip

    for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag (plastic bags are available if needed). Do not leave any valuables in the clothing

    bags. We cannot accept responsibility for valuables

    lost or stolen.

    FIRST AID

    St John First Aid roving bike crews will be on course, in addition to first aid station at the finish line.

    There will be drink stations located on course at the finish lines. Below are the locations of drinks stations for each distance:

    HALF MARATHON

    WATER – APPROX. EVERY 2.5KMS ELECTROLYTE – APPROX. EVERY 5KMS

    WATER – 2.5KM, 5KM, 7.5KM, FINISH ELECTROLYTE – 5KM, FINISH

    TOILETS

    A public toilet block and portable toilets will be located at the event site. There are also toilets on course at the following locations:

    • Southey Street, Sandringham• Between Red Bluff & Edward Street’s, Sandringham• Black Rock Life Saving Club, Black Rock• Rickets Point

    EVENT MERCHANDISE

    Event T-Shirts will be available for purchase from the T-Shirt Collection marquee. Pre-purchased T-Shirts will be available for collection here also.

    Please note - remaining merchandise will be moved over to the Sole Motive pop-up store from 8.00am on Sunday.

    WAVE STARTS

    If you believe you will be in the Top 10 male/female in each race category, please ensure you are close to the start line as the top three places awarded on race day are based on gun time.

    To improve the experience for runners, we will have wave starts as listed below. Please position yourself accordingly.

    5KM & 3KM KIDS RUN There will be no waves for these events and all runners will start at the same time.

    10KM WAVE A – participants under 45 minutesWAVE B – remainder of 10KM participants

    HALF MARATHON WAVE A – participants under 1:45 minutesWAVE B – remainder of HM participantsWHEELCHAIR participants will start five minutes prior to the first wave in their distance

    RUNNER’S WORLD PACE LEADERS

    Join a Runner’s World pace team to help meet your desired time goal! Pace leaders will be present

    for the 5KM run, 10KM run and Half-marathon distances.

    The pace groups offered are as follows:

    5KM PACE TIMES 25 mins, 30 mins

    10KM PACE TIMES 40 mins, 45mins, 50mins, 55 mins, 60 mins, 70 mins

    HALF MARATHON PACE TIMES 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10

    Pace leaders will be running on ‘gun time’, and will start in the suitable wave to that distance. Pacers will be wearing a balloon and race number with the goal time displayed for easy visibility.

    COURSE INFORMATION

    The Sandy Point Half Marathon course is measured according to the requirements and standards of the IAAF measuring scheme.

    If you are required to complete the half-marathon on the footpath and beach paths due to cut off times, please note the course is officially measured on the road course only.

    START LINE All events start on Beach Road, just north of South Road near The Milanos Restaurant, Brighton.

    IMPORTANT All participants will start the event on Beach Road, near the event site. Participants will head south in the middle lane of Beach Road.

    The lane closest to the residents will be a slip lane for vehicles to enter & exit their properties - DO NOT RUN IN THIS LANE. The two lanes closest to the beach side of the road will be for returning runners to the finish line.
