Business Planning 2018 -2020 The School Board is currently working on our new Business Plan for the period 2018 – 2020. Book fair

Thank you to the families that supported last week’s Book Fair. A large number of books have been donated to the library, and we will also receive some reward points for me to spend on Scholastic books for the school next year. This is an enormous help to the school and ensures our library collection is current and interesting.

Holiday borrowing

Once again, children will be able to borrow up to 10 library books over the holidays. They will need to ensure they have no overdue books already, and of course we can’t allow loans if they are not returning to the school. They will need to see me to have the books scanned into their name as I will need to override the loan limits on the system.

Covering Squad

Finally, a big thankyou to my book covering squad of 2017. You have saved me an enormous amount of time and I truly appreciate your help. Thank you Alli, Anna, Carol, Emma, Myffy and Simone.

STEM parent booklet for families with children in Kindergarten to Year 2

A focus in 2017 /2018 is STEM. Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths is much more than coding, it encompasses design and technology. The resource” Exploring STEM at home” explores STEM in the early years, particularly numeracy, creative problem solving and coding skills. This resource provides parents with activities and ideas to support their children’s learning and development at home. Mindaroo Foundation Art Partnership

North Cottesloe Primary School has recently partnered with the Mindaroo Foundation for students in years 1, 2

and 5 to create artworks to feature on hoardings surrounding the Forrest family’s Marine Parade residence. The

artworks which depict marine and beach themes will be applied to the hoardings in the next few weeks.

After conversations about the causes which the Mindaroo Foundation supports, students have decided to donate

the prize of art supplies to a school in need. The Foundation has suggested a school in Ethiopia called the School

of St Yared. You can find out a little more information here: http://hopeforchildren.org.au/our-programs/

education/school-of-st-yared/ Students will have the chance to write a note to the students in Ethiopia to include

in the packages to be sent over to Africa.
