GIUSEPPE CACCIATORE È professore ordinario di Storia della Filosofia presso il Dipartimento di Filosofia “A. Aliotta” dell’Università degli Studi “Federico II” di Napoli. Socio corrispondente dell’Accademia dei Lincei, dal 2004 è coordinatore del dottorato di ricerca in “Geopolitica e Culture del Mediterraneo” presso l’Istituto Italiano di Scienze Umane. IAIN M ICHAEL CHAMBERS

è un antropologo, sociologo ed esperto di studi culturali britannico. Membro del gruppo diretto da Stuart Hall all'Università di Birmingham, Chambers è stato un esponente del celebre Center for Contemporary Cultural Studies ivi fondato, che ha dato vita a una fiorente branca della sociologia anglosassone contemporanea. Successiva-mente si è trasferito in Italia dove insegna Studi culturali e postcoloniali all'Università degli Studi di Napoli "L'Orientale" ed ha fondato il Centro per gli Studi Postcoloniali. È autore di numerosi volumi scritti in inglese e in italiano e tradotti in diverse lingue. GIORGIO BANTI Giorgio Banti is now full professor at the Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”, where he teaches General and Historical Linguistics and, since last year, also Somali Language and Literature. His main research interests are: linguistic typology and information structure, Indo-European historical syntax, Cushitic languages and literatures (especially Somali, Saho and Oromo), Old Harari language and literature, ethnolinguistics (aka anthropological linguistics), oral literatures and comparative poetry. M ICHELE BERNARDINI Is now associated professor of Persian language and literature and History of Iran and Central Asia at the Università di Napoli “l’Orientale”. He is the founder of the journal “Eurasian Studies” actually co-edited by University of Halle Wittenberg and the Istituto per l’Oriente of Rome. He is in the scientific board of the Series catalogorum devoted to the publication of inedited manuscripts funds of the Islamic world. SÂKINE ERUZ

Sâkine Eruz studied Germanistics and European Art History in Germany and Istanbul, Turkey. She worked as a freelance sworn translator for many years in Germany. She has been a member of the academic staff of the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Letters, Translation Studies Department, German Section since its foundation in 1993 and has been teaching both in undergraduate and post graduate programs. Presently she is the head of the department. She has many publications and literary translations. She has been opening exhibitions and making presentations on multiculturalism in Europe and Turkey since 2000. [email protected]

HABIBA FATHI Dr. Fathi received her PhD (2001) in human and social sciences at INALCO (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales) in Paris. Her area of interest focuses on the expression of religion in everyday Islam among Muslim societies of Post-Soviet Central Asia. From 2003 to 2007, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the Institut Français d’Etudes sur l’Asie centrale (Tachkent) after which she joined the Aga Khan Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (London) from 2008 to 2009. ANTONELLO GIUGLIANO

Is full professor of History of Philosophy of Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries in the "A. Aliotta" Dept. of Philosophy of the Naples University ?Federico II?; in the Faculty of Sociology of the same University he teaches History of the Contemporary Currents of Thought, and Philosophy and History of Culture. One of his main research focuses on the philosophical foundations of the universal history of culture, and particularly on the conceptualization of temporality in the interconnection of ancient and modern Eastern-Western metaphysics. LAVINIA HELLER Since obtaining an MA in Translation Studies (languages: Chinese and Italian) in 2006 (University of Mainz), I have been employed as a lecturer at the Institute for Intercultural Communication and at the Institute for Romance Studies (University of Mainz). Currently, I am finishing my PhD involving the relationship between translation and intercultural communication. My field of study includes, amongst other areas, general translation theory (theoretical and practice-oriented approaches), theory of Intercultural Communication, cross-cultural dialogue, cultural transformation processes, as well as the translation of academic and literary texts. FEDERICO ITALIANO FEDERICO ITALIANO (Novara, 1976) è ricercatore presso l’Institut für Kulturwissenschaften und Theatergeschichte (IKT) dell’Accademia Austriaca delle Scienze (ÖAW, Wien) e insegna Letterature Comparate presso la Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU, München). Poeta, saggista, traduttore, collabora con diversi periodici italiani e stranieri. Tra gli altri, ha tradotto Vicente Aleixandre, Elizabeth Bishop, Philippe Soupault, Lutz Seiler e Durs Grünbein. RANA KAHRAMAN

Rana Kahraman has studied American Culture and Literature as an undergraduate programme at Đstanbul University. After finishing her undergraduate study, she has started Translation and Interpreting Graduate Programme and took an acitve part for the establishment of " Interpreters in Aid at Disasters " with a group of volunteer academicians and translators in 2000 . MATTHIAS KAUFMANN

Studied mathematics (diploma 1980), philosophy and political science. Dr. phil. 1986, Habilitation with a work on reference and truth in William Ockham 1992, professor in philosophy (ethics) at the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg since 1995. Visiting Professor at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (1992), at the Universität Münster (1994) and in Fortaleza (Brazil, UECE) in 2005. JENS LÖHNOFF Studied sociology, philosophy and communication science at the Universities of Düsseldorf and Bonn. After beeing an associate professor at the departement of intercultural communication at the University of Mainz he is holding the position of a full professor at the departement of communication studies at the University of Duisburg- Essen. His research interest are communication theory, intercultural communication, semiotics and philosophy of Language. [email protected]

FABRIZIO LOMONACO

Fabrizio Lomonaco is Professor of History of Philosophical Histororiography at the University of Naples “Federico II”, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia. From 1984 to 1993 he was a member of the scientific Council of the Centro di Studi Vichiani (C.N.R.). From 1985 to 1990 he was titular of C.N.R. research projects and, from 1993 to 1996. Since 2000 he has been a member of the editorial boards of the "Archivio di storia della cultura" (Napoli, Liguori) and the "Bollettino del centro di studi vichiani".

MONICA LUMACHI Ph.D. in German Literature at the University of Pisa. Post-graduate scholarship for research at the University of Naples l’Orientale from 2003 until 2006 and from 2009 till today. Among her topics of research are Expressionismus and Moderne, literature of the Weimar Republic, contemporary narrative and poetry. [email protected]

NICOLA MELIS

A specialist in Near Eastern and Ottoman history, received his PhD from University of Cagliari (Italy) in 2000 with a thesis entitled “Ottoman Empire and Portugues Empire: a comparison between the political project and the military practice”. CAMILLA M IGLIO Is now Associated Professor of German language and literature and Translation from the German at the University of Rome, “La Sapienza”. Till 2009 she teached at the University of Naples, “L'Orientale”. Recent fields of interest: Cultural geography and poetics of Landscape, the German speaking authors of Central and Eastern Europe, Translation Studies, Poetics of Translation. She has published various monographies and studies devoted to German Poetry since the Age of Goethe and Translation Studies. She translated several german authors, among them Franz Kafka, Hans magnus Enzensberger, Clemens Brentano. [email protected]

RICCARDO PALMISCIANO Ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Filologia Greca e Latina in data 21-10-1996, discutendo la tesi dal titolo “Il lamento funebre in Grecia e la sua codificazione letteraria”. SILVIA BRUZZI PhD Candidate in African and Asian history, Institutions and International relations, Faculty of Political Sciences (University of Cagliari, Italy). OMAR GHIANI Omar S. Ghiani (1984) is a lawyer from the Sorbonne University (Université de Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne) and King's College London and specializes in international law. In his capacity he has worked for several institutions including the Office of Legal Affairs at United Nations Secretariat in New York and for the United Nations Development Programme in Beirut, Lebanon. He also publishes articles on Middle Eastern culture and society for key geo-political newspapers in Italy.

La sua tesi di dottorato, S/confinamenti del sé: visioni e tecniche dell’autobiografia postcoloniale, è incentrata sull’autobiografia visiva di artiste migranti provenienti dal mondo arabo (Mona Hatoum, Zineb Sedira, Lara Baladi), come esempio contrappuntistico all’epistemologia dei confini (sessuali, geografici, storici, linguistici, culturali). DOMENICO INGENITO Domenico Ingenito (1982) is a Ph.D. candidate in Persian Language and Literature at Naples University "L'Orientale". He has taught Persian language at the Ottoman Studies Summer School organised by Harvard and Koç Universities, and has published several articles in the field of classical and contemporary Persian poetry and translation studies. ENRICA PICARELLI Is a Ph.D in cultural and postcolonial studies at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. Her research interests are media and television studies, postcolonial literature, American history and culture and cultural theory. She has published on the effects of 9/11 on American TV series Lost, Battlestar Galactica and Heroes. She is currently working on an essay on the representation of social mobility in the show Mad Men and on a parallel project on Roberto Saviano. DORA RUSCIANO Nata a Napoli nel 1983. Nel 2006 ha sostenuto una tesi sull’influenza che il contesto socio-politico ha avuto sulle diverse traduzioni dell’Amleto nella Germania divisa. Una breve sintesi di questa ricerca è stata pubblicata sul volume Il demone a vela a cura della professoressa Camilla Miglio. Sta conseguendo una laurea specialistica su Rose Ausländer. GABRIELLA SGAMBATI

Ph.D. in Comparative studies at the University of Naples l’Orientale. From 2010 she gets a post-graduate scholarship for research in German literature at the same University. In her doctoral thesis (“Transletture di Paul Celan in Giappone. Esperienza del trauma ed estetica della latenza”) has analyzed some Japanese translations of Celan’s work and the reception’s problem of his poetic in Japan. Her main research themes are translation studies, trauma studies, intercultural German literature, lyric after Auschwitz and Hiroshima. [email protected]

ALESSANDRA SORRENTINO Svolge un Dottorato di Ricerca alla Ludwig Maximilians Universität di Monaco di Baviera presso la cattedra di Romanische Philologie del Professor Dr. Dr. Michael Rössner sul‘opera narrativa di Luigi Pirandello; collabora con l'Europeische Pirandello Zentrum; è stata borsista della DAAD all‘interno dello STIBET Projekt: Teaching/Researcing Assistantschip; ha collaborato alla pubblicazione degli atti del congresso Pirandello e l'identità Europea (Graz 2007 ); si è laureata all'Università di Napoli Federico II nel 2001. Attualmente i suoi interessi sono rivolti allo studio delle teorie post coloniali, in relazione alla produzione narrativa di Luigi Pirandello. [email protected]

JULIANE ZEISER Studied Italian Language and Literature and Philosophy at the Universities of Vienna and Bologna. For her master thesis she analysed German translations of Carlo Collodi's "Le avventure di Pinocchio", focusing on different translation strategies and their change over time. Her main research interests lie in the fields of Italian literature, cultural studies, and translation theories and practices. Currently, she is a doctoral student at the University of Vienna.
