WELCOME FROM OUR PRESIDENT AND CEO, CHRISTOPHER D’ADDARIODear Dancer and Parents, Thank you for providing The Joffrey Ballet School the opportunity to serve your family this summer. It has been a privilege to serve families for more than 60 years, providing a fun, learning-enriched experience for all of our dancers. We are so excited about what we have planned for the summer 2019 at JBS.

It is our desire to communicate effectively with all our families. To manage your expectations, we are here to answer your questions and provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your child is in great hands at The Joffrey Ballet School. Within this packet, you will find up-to-date information, FAQs, and other material that will be helpful as you and your children prepare for their week(s) at JBS. Please read the information carefully.

PICK UP DROP OFF

Pick up and drop off is so easy!!Drop off your dancer 15 minutes prior to the start of the first class. Pick up your dancer 15 minutes after their last class.

AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES/SHOWS

We have arranged for after-school activities to make Joffrey Ballet School’s Intensives truly one of a kind experience. All activities are chaperoned by JBS Staff.

All Locations Except NYCActivities list will be available for purchase during orientation.

NYC ActivitiesWe have arranged Ticketed Activities to enhance and complement the training of each student during the Summer Intensive. All activities are chaperoned by trained staff for safe escort to and from the events and the assigned dormitories. Tickets are limited and always sell out. If you would like to request tickets for sold out activities, contact the Activities Coordinator.

Tickets will be distributed at the venue upon arrival.

MEALS/LUNCH POLICY

Housing StudentsMiami, GA, Las Vegas, Colorado, Dallas, SF - Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner IncludedNYC, LA, Genoa - Breakfast and Dinner Only (Must bring own lunch)London - Breakfast Only (Must bring own lunch)

NYC/London – We encourage students to pack a healthy lunch, or bring money to find food near the studio. There are plenty of food options that would be fast and affordable. NYC dancers ages 13 and under may not leave the building. NYC dancers ages 14 and up may visit one of many delis or restaurants near the studio where class is located.

LA – We encourage students to pack a healthy lunch, or bring money to find food in the cafeteria on campus.

Dancers have breaks built into the schedule, so dancers may bring snacks to eat between classes. A large water bottle is highly recommended.

Special Dietary RequirementsWe care about your dancer and their special dietary needs. Please complete the online pre-check-in form/update your registration to keep us alerted to any special needs.

All CommutersPlease bring your favourite lunch to the studio.




RESPECT, ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE AND PATIENCE• Street shoes are not allowed in studio• No food or drink allowed in studios• No gum chewing is allowed during class• Cell phones must of turned off during class and stowed safely in dance bag.• Dance bags with valuables should be brought into the classroom and stored out of the

way; the school is not responsible for belongings left in the locker rooms and other common areas.

• No warm-up clothes may be worn once class has begun.• No Jewelry is to be worn during class• All students must adhere to dress code and wear their nametags.

IMPORTANT• Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed to participate • If you are going to be late or absent :

• Log on to your dancer portal and submit a late/absent note. • Tuition must be current in order to attend class.• If a student will be out past curfew or overnight, a request must be submitted through

the dancer portal 3 days in advance. Housing staff will reach out by phone to the parent/guardian to confirm. All requests will be finalized once confirmed with a parent/guardian.

PERFORMANCESStudent Performances/In Studio ShowingsThis is where the excitement and all of the hard work through the weeks culminates to a superb performance. Each week builds upon another where dancers are able to demonstrate what they have learned from their time here at the Joffrey Ballet School. Each performance is professionally choreographed by the industries leading professionals who put their heart and soul into creating the best performance for all dancers attending the last weeks intensive. Please note that all shows sell out – buy tickets in advance!
