Bluebill Annual Christmas Giving Luncheon
The Bluebills Annual Christmas Giving event was held on Thursday, Dec. 8th, at the Bay Club in Port Ludlow. Agency personnel who have partnered with the Bluebills from Jefferson, Clallum, and Kitsap Counties attended this event. The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs (DVAA) from the three counties were honored guests. Beulah Kingsolver was the keynote speaker, describing the various programs at Dove House that support victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and victims of crime. She thanked the Bluebills for their support in painting rooms, building the children's loft, making
bookcases, and the World Vision Essential Supplies. They are looking forward to working with the Bluebill's newest program called Dove House Support.
Betty Faulkner received a Certificate of Appreciation for all of the work she does to support the quarterly meetings. Michael Graham remarked that it made his job very easy and is grateful for her participation.
The DVSA programs in the three counties have given us a list of women and children currently in their shelters along with a list of their Christmas wishes. At the luncheon, Bluebill members select individuals and families from the list on a board and go Christmas shopping based
on their lists. The gifts are then collected an delivered to the agencies. The Community Enrichment Alliance (CEA) partners with the Bluebills
and conducts an annual Silent Auction in November to sponsor this program. Vickie Tallerico headed the Silent Auction this year and with her committee, raised over $10,000. This money was presented to the Bluebills Christmas Giving coordinator, Larry Elton. Larry immediately distributed it to all of the shoppers who selected families from this list. Buelah Kingfisher commented on how this giving touched the lives of the recipients in many powerful ways.

Bluebills Support Dove House
Dove House Advocacy Services provides free crisis intervention and advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence and work for the elimination of violence through education and social changes. Over 475 people transition to safe lives in this program each year in Jefferson County. There is an emergency shelter for those in crisis and also a transitional living accommodation to get people back into the community. Dove House has a tremendous need for adult, children and infant personal care
products. Bedding, furniture, household items, and electrical wares are also needed. The Bluebills are very pleased to be able to support Dove House in collecting these items and have initiated a new program entitled Dove House Support.
There is a list of items at the Beach Club and Bay Club and a box located there to collect smaller items. If you have large or bulky goods, please contact Betty Faulkner at 437-5116 or e-mail her at [email protected]. She will arrange pick up of the items to be delivered to Dove House.
If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about this new program, the Bluebills are having a meeting at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9 at the Bay Club. Please let Betty Faulkner at the above contact numbers know if you can attend.
