7OLYMPIC FAMILY GUIDE - JULY 2016

2 Welcome Messages

Welcome to the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016. Welcome to the Cidade Maravilhosa.

This is the moment Brazil has been waiting for: welcoming the world to the first Olympic Games in South America. These will be spectacular Olympic Games. Brazil and the Brazilians will enthusiastically welcome the world and overwhelm us with their joy of life and their passion for sport. The Brazilian people and the cariocas will remind the world of their unique combination of passion and efficiency.

This Olympic Family Guide offers information and practical advice to help you make the most of the Games experience and your time in Rio de Janeiro.

Thank you to the Rio 2016 Organising Committee for their dedication and hard work in preparing this moment. The next weeks will be an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators and everyone in the Olympic Family.

Wishing you a wonderful stay in Rio de Janeiro,

Thomas Bach President of the International Olympic Committee

8OLYMPIC FAMILY GUIDE - JULY 2016

We are just a few days away from the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. We will embark on a memorable experience and a renewed hope will arise. The Games come at a time when the world needs to be inspired by the example of sport. The athletes will show us what humanity is capable of. And it only takes us to be connected with the right values: the values of sport, inclusion and non-discrimination.

Brazil had the dream to be the first country in South America to host the Olympic Games. We reaffirm our promise that these will be unforgettable moments, and this is only possible thanks to the tireless efforts of everyone involved.

I would like to thank President Thomas Bach and the International Olympic Committee for repeatedly showing us the true meaning of the word “friendship”. Since 2009, the invaluable input of specialists has been essential to help us create and organise our Games.

We were never short of challenges on this journey. Difficulties made us stronger. And the Rio 2016 Games allow us to inspire future generations with a message of accomplishment. We can now say to the youth, speaking from experience, that we shall not give up on our dreams.

I am very pleased to welcome you all to our “Marvellous City”, to enjoy the energy of this moment and the passion of our people!

Olympic greetings,

Carlos Nuzman President Rio 2016 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games

29OLYMPIC FAMILY GUIDE - JULY 2016

For IF and NOC Presidents and Secretary-Generals, flights will be pre-determined based on the competition schedule. Only NOC competing teams are eligible for complimentary travel to Football Cities. There will be one round trip designated flight per day per match and flights will be only from Rio to Football Cities (FTC) and vice versa. There will be no FTC to FTC flight.

Bookings are made 72 hours in advance (due to our cancelation policy) at the Olympic Information Desks (OID) located in the Windsor Marapendi for the IFs and Windsor Oceânico for the NOC. There are limited number of flights per match, which will be booked on a first come first serve basis, therefore, it is important to book in advance to guarantee a ticket.

Clients will be asked to book their own accommodation. The OID will assist with making these bookings.

Clients who book their own flight and accommodation, in order to have T3 for the arrival, must fill in the FTC form at OID or call T3 Call Centre, if destination is on T3 list. If client has an accompanying guest travelling with them, they must book their own flight and accommodation. Only guest who are eligible to use T3 can accompany the client at the transport.

All clients must return in 24h before departure to pick up the FTC booking confirmation at the OID. The confirmation card will contain flight and transport reservation.

Clients with T1 or T2 privilege can arrange their departure and arrival from/at Rio de Janeiro directly with their OFA. Clients who book and pay their own flights and does not have T1/T2 privilege can use the T3 on-demand from the OFHs to/from the airports. T3 on demand is available from 7am to 11pm. RFT must be requested for transport between 11pm and 7am.

Upon arrival in the FTC all clients will have a T3 service. At FTC, T3 pick-up at the airport will be planned according to the client’s flight information. If the flight or match demands an overnight stay, the return T3 will be pre-booked at the time of booking. Clients will receive a Transport e-mail with the T3 confirmation in addition to the form received from OID team.

A T3 service will be provided to T1, T2 and T3 Olympic Family clients in the Football Cities, but Clients can use T1/T2 services in Rio to go to the airports for drop-offs and pick-ups.

17.1 EMERGENCY NUMBERSFor emergency services (police, fire, ambulance): dial 190, 112 or 911 These are public service, free of charge, may be called from any public telephone, landline or mobile.

17.2 SMOKING POLICY All Rio 2016 venues are smoke free. Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is not permitted within any Games venue. This includes any open air space within the venue perimeter.

Smoking immediately outside venues is discouraged.

Smoking inside closed public areas such as Shopping Centers, Restaurants, Bars, Cinemas and Theatres is not allowed in Brazil. It is allowed in the immediate surroundings but not encouraged.

17.3 GENERAL CLIMATIC CONDITIONS It will be considered winter during the Olympic Games with average high temperatures around 75°F/25°C. However, during this time of the year it never really gets cold. This period also has the least amount of rainfall of the year. Although it rarely gets cold in Rio, a cloudy or rainy day can be a bit chilly to be outside.

17.4 TAXES AND TIPPINGTipping in Brazil is typically not expected nor given. Usually, Brazilians only consider giving an extra amount if there was some special, nonstandard service. However, if you are a foreign guest with a good exchange rate and can easily afford to be generous, service people will be grateful. The standard tip for waiters in restaurants and bars is 10% and is often included in the bill, although not compulsory. Note: sales tax is included in the menu prices and not added to the final bill.

Taxi drivers are usually not tipped, but it's customary to round up the fare to the next Real - for example if it costs R$ 11,67 it will be rounded up to R$ 12,00.

17 Miscellaneous

47OLYMPIC FAMILY GUIDE - JULY 2016

Landlines have 8 numbers and to call another city you also have to add the 3 digits operator number + the 2 digit area code, which differ from city to city or state. Please refer to your hotel concierge or reception desk for further information.

17.7 ELECTRICITYPower in Brazil is supplied at a nominal voltage of 110 volts and 220 volts. The below socket will be found at all the Windsor hotels.

Windsor Marapendi and Windsor Oceânico both have 220 volts power supply. Windsor Barra has 110 volts power supply, although each room has one plug with 220 volts power supply. Be aware of the signs before using the plugs.
