Kishore Vaigyanic Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)

The "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (KVPY) is a program started in 1999 by

the Department of Siene and Tehno!ogy #o$ernment of %ndia to eno&rage

st&dents of 'asi Sienes ngineering and ediine to take &p researh areers in

these areas* The aim of the program is to identify and eno&rage ta!ented st&dents

+ith aptit&de for researh*

This program stri$es to assist the st&dents to rea!ise their potentia! and to ens&re

that the best sienti, ta!ent is de$e!oped for researh and gro+th in the o&ntry*

#enero&s sho!arship and ontingeny grant are pro$ided (&p to the pre-Ph*D* !e$e!)

to the se!eted st&dents* %n addition s&mmer programs for the KVPY .e!!o+s are

organi/ed in prestigio&s researh and ed&ationa! instit&tions in the o&ntry*

The KVPY is f&nded by the Department of Siene and Tehno!ogy (DST)

#o$ernment of %ndia* The program is administered by the %ndian %nstit&te of Siene

(%%S 'anga!ore)* The se!etion of st&dents from those st&dying in 01 0 any 2*#*

The Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTS) is conducted SEPARATELY in each state

(union territories too) of India by the resecti!e state education deartments" It is based on the

lines of the #ational Talent Search Scheme$Examination (#TSS$#TSE) and only students of class I% can articiate in this& only from their school& not indi!idually" The first round of JSTS

is 'ritten test" It is conducted in ebruary" It is al'ays conducted on Sunday"

NCERT Announces National Talent Search Examination-2012

National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The

purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the

potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas

The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, ngineering, !edicine, !anagement

and "aw

#t honours and helps talented students $y providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly

scholarship

%or the courses in &asic sciences, social sciences and commerce, this assistance is provided up to 'h.(

level

%or professional courses like ngineering, !edicine, !anagement and "aw this assistance is given only

up to 'ost )raduation

The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in class V only

1! Scholarshi"s* +n the $asis of the eamination conducts, 1--- scholarships will $e awarded for eachgroup of students appearing for class/### eamination. The amount of scholarship will $e 0s --2 per

month as per TS rules

2! Reser#ation* 14 scholarships will $e reserved for students $elonging to the S5 category, .4

scholarships for students $elonging to the ST category and 34 for 'hysically 5hallenged group of
