OBJECTIVES In this case study, we will report a practical example faced by our company and discuss how simple and low-cost options may make viable an interstate histopathology lab operation without quality compromise, maintaining profitability. INTRODUCTION The strict requirements of laboratory structure and specialized personnel may impose itself as barriers to the development of Laboratory Medicine, as globally known. Undernourished areas face stronger embargoes, although this phenomenon does not spare developed areas as well. Clinical Pathology and Histopathology, high demand areas, are not spared, leaving unassisted populations and setting a pent-up demand, while creating a potential unexplored market share.
