Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Last week we had the “Walk to School” Breakfast, which was a huge success. The Canteen again sold
almost all their food, so thank you to all the parents who supported this breakfast.
This week has been another very busy one, with Year 5 completing their CPR certificates, our new OC
students having a Transition Day and the final Kinder Transition.
Next week our end of year activities commence with a “Blue Day” on Monday to support Ethan Haldane
in the State Cricket Team. On Tuesday we have our Celebration Concert rehearsal and performance. It
promises to be another brilliant show. On Wednesday 100 students will walk up to the High School to
see “Footloose”. I am sure they will love the performance. On Thursday we have the Combined
Scripture Service, and the final scripture for the year. Friday is the Year 6 Fun Day, and I know all the
students will have an excellent day. PHEW!!!! I am already tired just typing it all.
The following week is also a very busy week with the Parent Helpers Morning Tea on Tuesday,
Performing Arts and Aussie of the Month Assembly on Wednesday, and a Canteen Christmas lunch and
the SRC Christmas food drive on Thursday.
If you have not received notes for any of these activities, please check Skoolbag and download the note
and information.
Please note that you are now able to send absence notifications to school via Skoolbag. Please be
aware that it is a requirement that a written note be obtained when a student is absent. Sending a
message on Dojo, while handy for the teacher to note, does not cover our legal responsibility with
regards to student absences. Please ensure a note is sent the day the student returns if you have not
sent a notification via Skoolbag.
Thank you to all the parents who are working along with staff to prepare the many end of year events
and activities. Everyone is very appreciative of your efforts and it certainly is of benefit to the students at
our school.
Cheers
Kerry

CHANGES TO SKOOLBAG APP
Due to changes to Apple policy, individual Skoolbag apps are no longer supported in the app store and
therefore will not receive critical updates. Users are also reporting issues
with attachments not downloading.
We have been advised to delete the individual ‘Blaxland East Public
School’ Skoolbag app and download the single Skoolbag app in the
App Store or Google Play store.
You can then add multiple schools within the single Skoolbag app if you
have children at more than one school, and easily switch between them
from within the app.
You can now submit absence notifications and change of details information via the Skoolbag
app.
Go to the Home menu within Skoolbag and choose eForms.
A reminder that when returning permission notes for school activities it is a legal
requirement to return a SEPARATE permission note for each child.
In addition, if returning multiple notes for more than one child/activity, there is no
need to put each note in separate envelope. We are able to process multiple
payments for multiple activities/children in the one transaction.
PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD/REN’S FULL NAME AND CLASS ON PERMISSION NOTES!
$31,903 Thank you to all who helped with the recent Fete - it was a fantastic day. The majority of money raised will
go towards the hall extension with remaining to purchase teaching resources to assist our wonderful
teaching staff.
Tickets for our huge Christmas Toy raffle valued at $400 have gone home to
each family. Tickets are $2 each. The raffle will be drawn on 13 December.
If you would like extra tickets to sell they are available from the Canteen.
While it may seem like such a busy time of year, this is the
time when our hard work in the garden is paying off. The
zucchinis we planted last term are producing a lovely
harvest for the canteen as well as lots of lettuce and herbs.
Thank you to
everyone for
your can and
bottle
donations -
we have been collecting them and cashing in! All the money
raised goes to straight to the garden. From land-fill to filled
land! Our Patch is full!
Thank you to our
Garden Friends
Club for sorting the
worm farms,
preparing the
compost and
maintaining the
patch. 5/6T and 6W
have been learning the recipe of compost cake. They looked
at how to bake a compost cake - what ingredients, how long to cook and who will eat it! They were
encouraged to make their own at home. The best ingredients, and the correct ratio equals the best results!
If you would like our recipe, jump over to our BEPS Kitchen Garden Facebook page and have a look.
While you may not be ready to think about next year, now
is the time for Garden Friends Club to plan seeds, plants
and irrigation. We will be having a brainstorming session
and celebrating with morning tea at the last Working Bee
on 11 December at 9am. We would love to see you there!
