affordable supply of these resources for the lives of its citizens and industries.

Accordingly, JOGMEC has been and will continue building mutually beneficial relations with the na-tional corporations of resource-rich countries in line with Japan’s national policy for securing natu-ral resources. Such efforts include providing the technical training program for resource-rich coun-tries and creating further technological collabora-tion. Based on the wealth of state-of-the-art tech-nologies and expertise Japan has accumulated as a resul t of technology-based nat ional develop-ment, JOGMEC has been working on “Technical Solut ion” projects that apply or modify relevant Japanese technologies for overcoming challeng-es faced by the natural resource and energy indus-t ry. One area o f focus is tack l ing the techn ica l chal lenges that ar ise in o i l - and gas-producing countries.

In conclusion, JOGMEC is committed to fostering the development of natural resources and energy worldwide, and securing a stable supply of natural resources for Japan while serving as an integrated national corporation.

Exploration & Production (E&P)We work with Japanese E&P companies, supporting them both financially and technically. We also conduct geological and geophysical (G&G) surveys in fron-tier areas.

Geological and Geophysical Surveys

We conduct G&G surveys with host countr ies in support of Japanese companies aiming to extend their areas of activities.

We aim to build solid relationship foundations with countries that have hydrocarbon potential, through early-stage G&G survey. Then, we evaluate the ac-quired data and share the results with host coun-tries and interested Japanese companies to stimu-late further partnerships and businesses.

We can provide f inancia l support for Japanese companies’ high-risk E&P projects that have hydro-carbon potential.

Investment in E&P projects is capital intensive. To mitigate fi nancial risks, we provide equity capital to such E&P projects conducted by Japanese compa-nies. Addit ional ly, during the development phase, we can provide liability guarantees.

Examples of E&P Projects

Conventional Oil & GasCurrently, JOGMEC invests in numerous con-ventional oil/gas E&P projects worldwide. Re-cent ly, our projects include large scale LNG projects, which target Japan as a major con-sumer.

Unconventional Oil & GasJOGMEC is act ively seeking new projects in sha le o i l /gas. JOGMEC a lso conducts jo int studies with host countries and companies to establ ish an optimum development strategy for the Americas.

Frontier AreasJOGMEC conducts joint G&G surveys with host countr ies, promot ing the entry of Japanese companies into these projects. A JOGMEC-as-sis ted specia l purpose company (SPC) was awarded exploitation licenses in Greenland as a result of a joint survey program started in 1989.

Development of exploration and production technol-ogies plays an essent ia l ro le in secur ing future oi l and gas production. JOGMEC promotes R&D of up-stream technology for oi l , gas and unconventional resources, such as shale oi l /gas and methane hy-drate, in order to increase the amount of oil and gas

supply for Japan. Environmental sustainability tech-nologies and technologies for the sustainable use of oi l and gas are also studied. In addit ion, JOGMEC carries out technological support of exploration and deve l opmen t p ro j ec t s by Japanese compan i es worldwide and joint studies with NOCs.

Technical Solutions“Your Challenges, Our Solutions”-JOGMEC’s Technical Solutions Projects using Japanese Cutting-Edge Technologies-

Scheme of Technical Solutions Project

JOGMEC believes that Japanese cutting-edge tech-nologies have signif icant potential to solve a broad range of technical problems that oil- and gas-produc-ing countries face. JOGMEC’s task is to grasp and analyze the technical needs of oil- and gas-produc-ing count r ies and propose pract ica l so lu t ions to solve these challenges.

As a foundat ion of the Technical Solut ions Group, JOGMEC conducts ongoing technological develop-ment th rough co l laborat i ve research w i th a w ide range of Japanese industr ies, f rom the laboratory phase to the demonstrat ion phase, to create suit-able and practical technical solut ion packages for oil- and gas-producing countries.

JOGMEC Techno Forum

The JOGMEC Techno Forum provides a unique oppor-tunity to discuss technical challenges in the oil- and gas-industry and discover Japanese cutt ing-edge technologies and technical solutions applicable to the needs of oil- and gas-producing countries.

Technical Solutions Training Program

JOGMEC prov ides a t ra in ing program focused on Japanese cutting-edge technologies (seeds) for ex-perts from oil- and gas-producing countries. The fi -nal goal of this Technical Solutions Training Program is to provide technology transfer, such as the innova-tive CO2-EOR technology, reservoir monitoring tech-nology, and advanced produced water t reatment technology, as technical solutions using applicable Japanese technologies to solve industry challenges.

International RelationshipsEnhancing close relationships with oil- and gas-producing countries and emerg-ing producers is one of our crucial roles.

JOGMEC has been promoting collaborative activities with IOCs and NOCs. These activities encompass a broad range, including reciprocal visits by senior ex-ecutives, regular consultations and collaborative re-search projects. We have entered memorandums of

understanding (MOU) wi th severa l countr ies and NOCs in recent years. In addition, we organize vari-ous conferences and promotional meetings in order to open up high-level dialogues both within Japan and overseas.

Training Program for Technical Experts

As one o f the la rgest o i l and gas impor ters in the world, Japan strengthens cooperative relationships with oil- and gas-producing countries by contributing to human resource development in partner countries.

JOGMEC invites oil and gas experts from these coun-tries and hosts various technical training courses that provide practical skills to international participants.
