Hello Congregants,

How cool is it that we have such great young adults and younger folks at OZS? It is such a wonderful feeling to come to Shul and see so many activities being run by our young adults for our younger folks. Not only do these young adults need to know what they are talking about, they have to know how to get along with and communicate with others in order to teach. It is not always easy when dealing with such a wide variety of personalities to get your point across so all understand. When I arrive for Tuesday Minyan and see the Teachers leading the younger folks in lessons it warms my heart. And on Shabbat morning hearing younger folks read Torah so beautifully it makes me know we are doing things right. All said I wish to take this opportunity, as me AND as OZS President, to say THANK YOU to all the Young Adults and younger folk who make our Synagogue so great!

With Great Respect, Ira Cooper

Come join our table after services and discuss the week's parsha. This is an informal way to engage with Torah. Look for our table after blessings. Brought to you by the Adult Education Committee.

Dearest OZS Congregants ~

Thank you for the joyful memories you have given to me these last 3 years. You’ve included me as one of your family, enriching my life with your kindness and educating me as I’ve learned Hebrew words and more about the Jewish faith. Every day has been a gift. I will truly miss not being at the synagogue every day but hope to see all of you here in Lexington out and about. You are all the best!! Until we meet again. Jae

Have you noticed?

Many of our Etz Hayim chumashim are in need of repair or replacement. A committee will soon assess how many new Etz Hayim are needed and how many of the damaged ones can be repaired for a reasonable cost to have a full complement to meet our needs for study and reading. This should be completed towards the end of February. Twenty-four new Etz Hayim have been given to start a Book Replacement Fund. How this Fund is expected to work is that as Books are purchased for $72 (4xChai), then that money will then be used to buy new Etz Hayim. This revolving Fund is intended to keep our Etz Hayim in best condition. You can help with this mitzvah. Buy an Etz Hayim for any simcha or in honor/memory of a loved one or anyone. Just let the office know that you want to be part of this project to insure our Etz Hayim remain in the ready for reading and learning.
