Courses addressing products of firms producing agricultural machinery, seeds and means of plant protection, address the needs especially of the management and specialists of agricultural enterprises directly dealing with the agricultural production. The courses are being updated continuously and therefore they give the possibility to get acquainted in detail with modern techniques and technologies and train the users to utilise them in an appropriate way.

Field Days and Exhibitions.

Field Days and related exhibitions and demonstrations of modern techniques and technologies allow presenting to the large public advanced products, production processes and production chains. The Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute – National Center of Seed & Cultivar Investigation of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences is one of the leading centres of agricultural science in Ukraine.

The research work at the Institute is carried out at 12 departments and 5 laboratories by the staff that consists of 430 employees including 102 research workers which are represented by 4 academicians, 10 D.Sc. and 59 Ph.D.

Breeding of winter common and durum wheat, winter and spring barley, sorghum, soryz, sunflower, soy, pea, chickpea, alfalfa and lately – mushrooms is curried out.

Since the foundation of the Institute, over 340 new varieties and hybrids have been developed. At present the varieties, bred at the Institute, are grown on 5-6 million hectares in Ukraine annually.

At present 139 varieties and hybrids of the Institute are in the Ukrainian State Register of Plant Varieties.

To succeed in the plant breeding the staff of the Institute carries out an extensive theoretical studies in areas of breeding, genetics, variety investigation, seed testing.

Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute has 9 experimental farms with about 36 000 hectares of arable land at its disposal which supply annually over 10 000 tons of certified seed for seed and grain producers.
