I am to inform you that on the recommendation of the BaS in Pharmacy theStanding Committee of the Academic Senate at its 4th meeting held on 17th March 2012decided to introduce sessionals (Internal Assessments) in M.Pharmacy courses from the

.academic year 2011-~012and onwards. .

Further, after threadbare discussions on the modalities submitted by the Board ofStudies, it is resolved to authorize the Vke-Chancellorto take final decision in fiXingthesessional marks by ·examining and comparing with pattern of sessional marks existing inother Universities in AP. The Vice-Chancellor, after carefully exami."lingthe issue fromall the dimensions and practices prevailing in neighboring sister Universitiesparticularly Osmania University, Hyderabad has accorded approval to the followmgmodalities in introducing the sessional marks (Internal Assessments) in M.PharmacyCourse for implementation to the batch of students admitted to the I year course for theacadenuc year 2011-2012. .

1. There shall be 30 marks for seSsionals and 70 marks for semester (Universityexamination) of both theory and practical papers of M.Pharinacy I & II Semester.

2. There will be no assignments in I &II Semesters from the academic year 2011-2012onwards. .

3. Two sessionals will be conducted in each subject of the theory for 30 marks each andaverage of the marks secured in the two sessional~ shall be taken into account as themarks secured in the subject. In each sessional about 50% oithe syllabus shall becovered. .

4. Duration of the sessional exam shall be for 11hhours (90 minutes). There shall befour (4) questions and students have to answer any three (3) of them. (Therewill be no internal choice in any of the questions)

5. Practical sessional examination for 30 marks shall be conducted at the end of coursework of the Semester.

6. Minimum marks for passing in the Semester exam shall be 40% Le., 28 marks out of70 marks both in: theory and practicals of M.Pharm I and II Semester examination.However, the .candidate has to secure a minimum of 50 marks out of 100 ·(sessionaland semester put together) in each theo·ryand practical papers

7. The list of the qualified teachers (along with their CV), who evaluate the sessionalsshall be sent to the Chairman, Board 0 Studies in Pharm. Sciences, at least two weeksbefore the cOmnlencement of the sessional exams.

8. All the affiliated colleges shall send the list of sessional marks secured by thestudents to the Chairman, Board of Studies in PharamaceuticalSciences for onwardsubmission to the Controller of Ex~minations subje~t to the moderation of marks bythe Chairman, Board of Studies.

9. There is no ·change. in the scheme and pattern of examination in the M.Pharm. III andIV Semester examination.
