OGSR Mission
The mission of the Office of Graduate Studies and Research is to support faculty and students to foster and sustain an environment of academic excellence through a strong commitment to promote graduate education, research, creative activity, and collaborative initiatives, such as centers, institutes, and faculty-student research.

OGSR Internal Funding Opportunities• Grant Proposal Seed Monies
(GPSM)– Up to $3,000 to support faculty
development of an external funding application
• University Professional Development (UPD) grants– Up to $8,000 to support faculty
research and creative activities and innovative instruction
GPSM• Aim is to support faculty in the development
and submission of proposals for external funds • Proposals may involve grants or fellowships for
research, scholarly activities, and/or pedagogy • Funds may be used for supplies, equipment,
research travel, stipends for assistance, student assistants, grant writing assistance, or needs associated with proposal development
• Faculty stipends and course releases are not supported
• Applications are accepted throughout the year and reviewed by a faculty committee which makes recommendations to the AVP-Research
UPD 2013-14• Primary purpose is to assist faculty working to meet the
qualifications for retention, tenure, and/ or promotion• Awards may be made to tenured full professors and/or
librarians at a rank equivalent to full professors, coaches, and lecturers in unique and limited circumstances
• Provides support for faculty research, scholarship, and creative activities as well as innovative pedagogy • Equipment/ supplies• Student assistants, research assistants, transcription/
translation/ analysis services• Travel to present papers at professional meetings• Publish results of previous research • Course release for fall 2013 or spring 2014
• Academic Senate Faculty Grants Committee reviews proposals and recommends awards to AVPR and Provost
• Submission Deadline Monday, February 18th by 11am
